1. Was mentioned in jest. I have no idea who would be in the draw, let alone have the advantage. Not sure Rafa plays this one given how brutal the schedule is. I could honestly see him giving serious consideration to sitting out the entire North American hardcourt portion and focusing on the European clay. Especially when he's saying that he wasn't able to practice/play for several months and only recently started practicing again, but only doing like an hour or so sessions.

2. I don't believe for a second he hasn't been practicing. Not one second.
It's Nadal. EVERYTHING is about gamesmanship. He literally said it himself. He mentioned that he lives in an apartment type situation with no courts on the property. He said he only recently started playing again and that he's only really playing about an hour a day. I don't see how or why he would feel the need to lie about that. I mean the tour is shut down, so it can't be a gamesmanship ploy.
Rafa was spending the quarantine in an 8,000 square foot mansion, not "an apartment type situation." And satellite images clearly showed not just one tennis court on the 14 acre compound, but multiple courts. Djokovic and Fed also lied, claiming they weren't practicing either, when both were. Why do they lie? Why do you think? These are elite athletes where even a 1% advantage mentally or physically... is huge. Gamesmanship is ENORMOUS with Nadal! He literally said it himself. I do believe Rafa has been playing quite a bit, but I think his, as well as some others, "lie" about it because it is not a good look when there are other less fortunate players on tour who don't have that advantage.I'm just reporting what Rafa said or at least hinted to. I don't really care, because it's him you're calling a liar, not me.
That source is from June 4th when the schedule hadn't been announced, that's why Rafa wasn't sure if the US Open would be played, and he may not have been practicing much.He literally said it himself. Nadal not sure US Open can be played in 2020
Rafael Nadal says right now he doesn't think the US Open can be played this year but he wants to wait and see what happens with the coronavirus pandemic.www.espn.com
Nadal and Djokovic will not be able to play for 7 consecutive weeks if the schedule planned a few days ago is maintained.
It is impossible for them and the other veteran players that the ATP circuit has.

Whether I agree or not, it is clear that the US has decided that it is time to move on. They are over the virus and want to get on with life. Money matters, and it is showing.Coronavirus: Worst could be yet to come, WHO warns

No it does not, but the people in power see money profits behind a mask.I doubt the virus cares who’s “over“ it.
Let's hold it in your forest--there's been no cases there! Here is an idea: why don't we hold all tennis tournaments in one isolated place in the world? After all, there won't be any spectators right? Maybe do it indoor somewhere in the Arctic or Antarctic?

Don't believe everything you hear on Rachel Madcow.USO is not happening .... how deluded are people if they think this is going ahead, the US right now is a ****ing disaster with this covid sh1t ...

It will be on, by then there will be at least three new "krisises" manufactured. The stands will be packed, free tickets to the USO, broadway shows and to gentlemen's clubs will be demanded by protestors and be granted. Why anyone would WANT to go to NYC is beyond me--go to Las Vegas' version of it instead, you're more likely to win a jackpot there then buy a fake Rolex and get pick-pocketed in de Blazio's Big Rotting Apple.USO is not happening .... how deluded are people if they think this is going ahead, the US right now is a ****ing disaster with this covid sh1t ...
She is indeed a lamentably pathetic presenter, almost the mirror image of those old bulls hitters on Fox.
