I want to see Nadal dropping out and Federer participating. We would see who is the nr2 atm on clay

Hewitt has the absolute worst clay court draw possible, Calleri, Chela/Canas, Davydenko. Unfortunate, guess it's another first round exit.

Why is Roddick not playing? Also dissapointed to see Nalbandian missing the tournament. Hope to see a Safin-Federer clash.

Hamburg suits Nadal's game so well to. Oh well Roland Garros is what matters I guess. Too bad Nadal couldn't finish off Davydenko in 2 sets.

If Nadal drops out for some rest, this may be Federer's only chance to pick up a clay master's this year. Oh wait, is Volandri playing? (Laughing)

Perhaps, O. But perhaps not.
Cañas beat Chela earlier this year (7-6 6-1), and I can't think of any other reason to think Chela will beat Cañas now. In fact, last time Chela defeated Cañas was in 2004...

Protected ranking? He is in his best -- 895 in the world, since his comeback, but I didn't think that would be good enough to get him in!

Russell is trying to qualify. He's been playing good lately and is probably going to play Roland Garros.

Yeah what the F. Is Nalbandian retiring or something?

Good to see Blake showing up. Don't think he will go far on the slow Hamburg clay. Might have to play Stepanek first. Ouch.

I think Blake can become a solid clay-courter. Last year, he was serving at 6-4, 4-3 against Ancic and then eventually lost. He wasn't playing bad, it's just that Ancic came up with the goods at the right times.

I doubt it. Blake just hits too flat for clay courts. He is much more effective on hard courts. His power his neutralized some by the clay as well as the ball sitting up a little more. Also the movement on clay is much different as proven by Nadal.

What was PR? Verkerk and Andreev get PR?
I just figured it out: PR = Pending Removal… until they select what other player to put on his spot.
“Ok Mr. Verkerk, you’re out of the draw!”
“What do you mean…? I haven’t even played yet!”
“It doesn’t matter. We are replacing you with another player: you are out!”
“But, but…”
“No buts: you are out!”

yeah hamburg has pretty slow clay courts...I played a match on the center court once and it's slower than the courts I played in spain!

Hamburg is a faster clay court so Federer has a good chance.

Actually, Hamburg is one of the slowest courts on earth and
Federer actually has been doing better on it.

Federer won his 1st ever Masters title at Hamburg beating Safin and Kuerten
in 2002, for example. He is actually very good on slow courts.

In fact, his initial success on tour was on slower courts.
He won Wimbledon once its courts got slow.....

He never won any title on indoor until 2003.

He used to do very well indoors. His first title was indoors, in Milan in 2001, I believe. He also won in Vienna as early as 2002.

He started winning Wimbledon in 2003 since he became a mature player. Duh!

Yeah, but Vienna is a hard court event.

Yes, his 1st ATP title was at Milan on indoor carpet. But he lost to
a clay courter at the same court next year.

And he has maintain poor (relatively, compared to other surfaces)
record on indoor carpet.

Especially, the indoor carpet tourney at his home country.
Despite he wanted to win it badly since it's at his home.
He failed to win it until last year when he beat couple of clay courters
from Spain and Argentina to win an indoor carpet court...
