Federer and Djokovic would move ahead imo since they have more deep runs than Nadal. They both have more QF and SF runs than him. Nadal has one more Slam final than Djokovic but he has like 4 more SFs and 5 more QFs.

I agree that using the official weighing is the best. However, the Olympics used to be 750 points, before being reduced to 0.
If we started adding points arbitrarily to them, we'd have to assign something to other achievements, too.

Olympics is worth 8,000. It's really worth 2,000 as you say, but only happens once every 4 years (4 X 2,000).

I think it carries certain weight, player has to beat at least 3 top 10 players in a tournament to win it ... counts for something, no ?

It's a lot harder to qualify for the WTF than Olympics. For one you have to play well whole year and end up in top 8. You get to the other by a country quota. There are several examples where the winner of the Olympics hasn't ever been able to qualify for the WTF.

P.S. Tennis shouldn't be an Olympic sport. Ditto football/soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, etc. (Ice hockey is an exception 'cause, well, the Winter Os need their own marquee team event. No, curling doesn't count.) Let less heralded sports enjoy their spotlight for a change.

last time I checked ATP results, they say:
2016 Nadal received ZERO points for Olympic Gold
2012 Murray received 750 points for Olympic Gold
how do you jump from this to 2000 points is a mystery to me.
