Another old beauty: Völkl Match FCS

Hi there, I was wondering if someone can tell me anything about this old Völkl I've just found. It's in great, near mint condition, and even though I'm not an expert (this is my first frame of this brand, I collect only austrian Head frames...) I really couldn't leave it there. It was love at first sight with its Made in West Germany sticker and with its very fine global quality.
So, if you played with it, or just know its specs or year of construction...

Looks like it came from the same mould as the T9-30, and its design and the "Made in Western Germany" label would place its construction very close to the year 1988 (very close to the end of German tennis production for the company). I believe it's a more flexible / cheaper racquet than the T9 series (which Petr Korda and a few other pros used at the time).

Thank you retro, it's very interesting!
I played with it last week for a few time, and I honestly think it's not so flexible (in general: I never played with a T9, or other Volkl). I usually play with a i.Prestige MP XL, and this MATCH FCS seems quite similar... but I don't know what kind of strings and tension we're talking about...

The Match FCS is in my collection, and I played with it this fall, but I haven't measured it yet. While it didn't play like a very stiff racquet, it didn't play like a very flexible one either (like my flexy Rossignols for instance). It's been a while, but I remember liking it, it felt quite "modern". Have to play it again to be able to give a proper review.

I played with the Match FCS for an hour saturday, and checked the specs in the rdc-machine today. The specs first:

Völkl Match FCS
(with overgrip, strung with Völkl PowerFibre I @ 20 kg / 44lbs)

Weight: 361 g / 12.73 oz
SW: 315
Flex: 53
Balance: 31.25 cm

It's a nice playing racquet, and I wouldn't hesitate to play with it again. I like heavy and rather flexible bats, and this one fits that description. The rather low SW meant that one can whip it around in spite of the 361 g weight. It plays true to specs, maybe apart from the flex, as I thought it was slightly stiffer when I played with it. It felt solid and comfortable from the baseline, but I didn't serve and volley enough to say anything about it.

Hi guys, I used to play with a very similar stick, back when I was a kid. My dad owned 2 of them and after I tried his I received my own. It was a good racket - the obvious difference is, that if I remember correctly, what is yellow on your stick was in red on mine. I wish I still had it some where... Does anybody know what my racket was, what the specs were etc.? If anybody has one, I wouldn't mind getting one for sentimental reasons.

The main color was like yours though, dark grey I think. Unless it was sold with different PJs.

A while ago I came across a TOP FCS, not as nice as the one shown here http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=332999, but that's ok. I am still looking around for the racket of my childhood. Meanwhile I figured out what it was: I played with the Cup FCS, which was part of the group of the World-cup Rackets (based on the tag)

Does anyone know, what the differences are between these 3 rackets, other than the PJ? Any differences in material? Headsize?
I scraped together the specs from the different threads below and will be happy to update, if you have more info:

Top FCS specs:
20 mm constant beam
Material: Graphite/Carbon
Head size: 95 sq. in.
Lenght: 68,5 cm
Strung weight: 346 grams (actually mine is 355g strung, with Völkl leather and no overgrip)

One more thing - it seems that FCS was a technology that made the rackets shoulder and arm friendly. Any idea what FCS is?

Hmmmmmm...The cup.. Pro racketeer maybe the red and yellow racket you posted was in fact a cup ?
It sure looked close to it .. Shape and beam width. Too thin for a t9.
Tr 25 meets a fcs cup!

Korda played with the TR25 the whole time with all this different paint jobs. The V bridge is the key.

Dude graduating from a 4 year university in 3 semesters is easier then posting pics on here . I don’t get it , .why is it so dam hard to do it . But it is . Took me 7 yrs to sit down and dedicate an afternoon to seriously figure it out , ridiculous man.. I use imgur and have for years now . It still takes me forever to get one image up .. and it only lets me ever do just one .. never more than one. And after u post that one pic, you have to wait like 12 hrs before you post another picture. Infuriating.’why can’t we just upload a pic from our camera roll from our dam phone ?

The shape is exactly the same, the headsize is probably around 100", the cosmetic is the same also, just instead of yellow stripes and letters mine got golden ones. There is "Carbon Pro", "FCS" and "graphite/carbon-ceramic" prints.

Alternatively, if you use a computer, you can host pics on Google photos, make them Public (or have one album for public pics), open the pic, right click inside and ‘copy image URL’ (or image address or something of the likes), then paste that link in using the ‘insert pic button’ which creates the bit of code needed around the link.

I played with one for about 6 months a few years ago. It's a nice buttery feeling frame strung with a poly/nat gut setup around 55.

FCS CUP was played by Tsjesnokov. First V Bridge by Völkl in 1986. together with FCS Match & Top.

First ever V Bridge???

T9 ca 1987.
T9 30, 37 & 45 ca 1988
TR (Trophy) 25 (Korda, Tjesnikov Volkov)) 30 & 35 from ca 1989

We need more pics of these bad boys !
I mean they are all BANGERS design and color wise . Best of the best . I’d dare to say the tr series red Volkls . The T9 series red too were top 5 best shapes and color way of any rackets ever created . Matter of fact I’d put them up there top 3 in the world currently 2024 .
