Can Federer realistically get one more slam?

Nadal is pretty much one annual RG victory away from being ahead in the slam race, and Djokovic has surely fallen too far behind to challenge at RG anymore.

The question is, can Federer win one more slam to get to #21? And where would his best chance realistically be?

I think one more Wimbledon is possible. And I know it’s a stretch but if Djokovic doesn’t play in Australia, I’d put Federer as the favorite there over Nadal to win the tournament.

Thoughts?

I think yes. Now that Nadal is no longer scared of Djokovic, if Nadal takes out Djokovic at AO, Fed has a shot there. Also Wimbledon he has a shot. I don't know about USO or FO.

I am hoping Djokovic comes back roaring, but takes it easy for a little bit so Fed can get a (or some) slam(s).

Wimbledon 2021 shall be his last chance.

Much like Kenneth Robert Rosewall in 1974, he shall reach the final in his 40th year.

Shall he win it? Time shall tell.

This was partially an excuse to put the word "shall" in every sentence.

You never know with fed. Probably not but I will never write him off entirely. If Djokovic goes off the boil then fed may capitalise on it. I think Nadal will like his chances for 2 slams next year again though.

There is ONE player who has been consistently better than Fed over the last few years, and that guy is visibly declining now.

And Rafa hasn't threatened him outside of clay in years.

If Djokovic is no longer a lock for every GS Final, who is going to reliably, Slam after Slam, be there to break Roger's heart? It isn't gonna be Rafa, those days are gone outside of RG.

If @StrongRule starts saying that Fed is done and has no chance then it’s time for Fed fans to celebrate
He won’t because he is a biiiig closet Federer fan.
lol. I can’t tell if he’s just an extremely superstitious Nadal fan or a dedicated anti Rafa jinxer
At one point in 2018 I was suuuure that he is a Federer fan who trolls Nadal fans. He never writes about Federer.
And then he'll counter jinx Nadal as well saying that Rafa will have no chance and lose to whoever. And then Nadal fans will celebrate.

So, let us see who will StrongRule jinx this time. He's our only hope....for either fan base
Yes. But we know each other since 2017.

He won 2 in 2017, one in 2018, and had two points to win one in 2019. He also made slam semifinals in 2019 and 2020 (losing to Nadalovic). So unless the NextGens truly step up in 2021, surely Federer can win another slam.

Realistically Federer can only win AO and Wimbledon and his problem is that he cant beat Djokovic in those tournaments anymore. The last time he beat him in Australia was in 2007, and the last time he got the upper hand at Wimbledon vs Novak was in 2012.

2012 is actually the last time he defeated Novak at a Grand Slam. Since then he is 0-6.

So, yeah, Federer can technically win another Grand Slam, as long as someone else takes Djokovic out in Australia and Wimbledon.

Federer will not beat Nadal on a hard court over 5 sets. He is 3-1 down when he was younger and fitter.
I think he may well win a W. I do think Nadal will beat him in Slam count but if Federer won W at 40 then for me we have joint GOATS. We do anyway at the moment unless u really dissect things then a debate ensues but Federer winning the most historic Major at 40 and having 9 in total would be stuff of legend like Nadal at RG.
I do feel the above is actually starting to affect Djokovic mentally. For all his brilliance he knows that history may well have him as a footnote to Fedal.

Yes.
Pre injury Federer would be the 2nd fav at Wimbledon, only behind Djokovic.
No one know how he'll play once he comes back, but if he's close to what he was before injury, he'll still be top 3 at Wimbledon.

Well, Syssypas and Dimimug broke Fed's heart just fine in last year's hard court GS. Fed is very vulnerable vs Next Gen at his age, has losing H2Hs vs Thiem and Zverev ( whom from this year started to be more consistent at GS as well ) and he's coming back after 2 knee surgeries at almost 40 years old.
Granted, he probably can still beat Next Gen on grass, because Next Gen are trash on grass.

That's why I qualified with "consistently there to break his heart."

Djokovic took 3 Wimbledon crowns from his clutches in six years as well as a US. Winning record notwithstanding, Thiem wouldn't be able to do that.

Djokovic has been the one guy he COULD NOT beat...I don't think there is another player on tour that just has his number at Slams no matter what.
