Had another hit with my BP 16x19 today.

Changes from the previous time: I've added 1g at 3,9, and 12 respectively, and counter-balanced with 5-6g at 7" above the butt cap. This has increased the static weight from 339g to 349g (this includes around 1g of finishing tape once the overgrip was re-applied).

The racquet played very well. Still very comfortable, excellent stability (the SW should have been around 343 before the mods, so not sure where it's at now), excellent directional control, excellent slices, and plenty of net clearance on most shots (but I did have more incidents of the ball hitting the tape due to a lower launch angle than usual).

My racquet, as I've said before, has been strung a little too tightly (DT of 40 and I usually like 37-38). This will be remedied next time around with a slightly looser stringbed, which will help achieve a slightly loopier shot and even more comfort. Furthermore, the grip feels just a tad bigger than I would like, so I may need to replace the original grip with a leather one. This may result in a slight reduction in thickness and a further increase in the HL balance, which will hopefully further improve the maneuverability.

The racquet is very powerful and this is something that will require further tinkering, in order to get the right balance of control, power, comfort, and launch angle. Several things are clear: the racquet has enormous potential, and I will need time to fully gel with it. However, with each hitting session, we are becoming better acquainted.

This was at lunch and we both had to work after. So I was lazy hitting so my footwork looks bad. I needed to hit against the heavy ball so I can adjust my strokes. I’m testing different weight and balance now. I’m playing with lead in the handle in this session. I think figuring out the string tension was the key for me. I’m still figuring it out the rest. I sold my friend my Yonex vcore 95 frames which he’s hitting with to commit to bpro. It’s a demanding frame but I love it.

Do tell , how does the BP feel coming from the Vcore 95? It's currently my goto stick and I'm going to play with the BP tomorrow, so I am curious!

I picked up the Yonex 95 2yrs ago, due to an arm injury. Yonex definitely helped me recover and get back into the game but I never got used to the muted feel. Its not a bad thing, its just something different than what Im used to playing with. I played good with it. Surprising power and easy to play with. Its a fast frame, so easy to hit serves and volleys. But even after a full year, I couldn't get used to the feel. I switched to the older blades end of last year, BLX/Kfactor models and been playing with them since. I just really like how they feel(don't like the newer blades). You really can't compare the Yonex to the Bpro, they're completely different in the way they hit, feel and swing. Bpro is more similar to the Blade but still plays much differently. I've been gravitating towards the modern specs for the frame since my arm injury. I was playing with more classic specs, 355g ~ 31.5cm balance, its what I grew up with and feel comfortable with. I find that modern specs, like 330g ~ 33cm balance, has more advantages especially with poly strings. Bpro has that classic feel, swings heavy and a bit clunky. Nice flex in the throat but a stiff/solid head. The frame is very stable and directional control is excellent. You can swing through the ball with so much confidence and the feel is there. I'm used to playing with heavier swinging frames so I'm adjusting to it very quickly but I do think that this is not for everyone. Sweet spot is small, and you need rac head speed to generate decent spin. If you know how to use the swingweight, it hits massive. But the frame doesn't give you "free" power like the Yonex. Just like everything in tennis, its all about personal preference.

Holy crap, your experience and mine with the Vcore 95 sound extremely different!!

Anyway, I finally played with my BP 16x19 the other day, but first the specs

Strung Specifications

String: Solinco Hyper-G 1.20 @ 22 kg
Weight: 344 grams
Balance: 32.4cm (~6 points HL)
RA: 63
Swingweight(Home-calculated so not 100%): 333
Notes: Added a leather grip and about 8 grams in the grip to make it more headlight.

Bonus!!
Length: 68 cm (Noticed it was a little shorter than my RF97 when they were stacked, so I measured it and true enough... Curious if anyone else has measured theirs?)

I played first an hour with my Vcore 95 and then switched to the BP for another hour and a half.
Easy and controllable power for me.
Slices and dropshots were on point right from the start, which I usually struggle with when first changing to a new racket.
Serves were absolutely amazing! I played a set with a friend who generally gives me big trouble with his defence and returns and he really struggled to return my serve even when I didn't go for huge angles or max power. It serves a pretty nasty ball! (I lost eventually in the tiebreak 14-12, but considering I had lost in our last two encounters, 6-2,6-2 and 6-3,6-4 respectively... I think this result was an improvement if nothing else :-D !!)
Ground-strokes were good too, plenty of spin and controlled all-around with some great plow-through. The only thing that needs some getting used to is my one-handed backhand. It's not that it is bad, it just needs some tuning from my part. Did not notice any instability whatsoever as some people have commented but I'll be in the lookout for it in the coming weeks.

Generally very good first impressions! Really looking forward to hitting with it some more, but it seems like the weather has different ideas...

I find that customized to that spec, almost any racquet is amazing :)
Ironically my H19's are similarly spec'd, and i like them more than the Blade Pro's. My H19's feel like 93's in my hands for some reason and are much easier to swing.

I noticed when I was playing them back-to-back (the UP16 and the BP16) that at the very beginning of the switch I would just feel like the BP was a larger head size (like almost 100sq. in.), particularly on the BH side. I think it's due to the more rounded head shape. This makes it feel less maneuverable... but I think it goes away after a bit and I adjust and then stop thinking about it.

Saw you posted some BP for sale. Are you done with the H22 experiment? You settled on H19?
I've had my H19's for years and go back and forth to them. My main frame has always been the RF97. The comparison was mainly between my RF97 and the H22 as my H19's are just a different category altogether. If I had to choose between my RF97 and the H22, the RF97 wins. So for now I will be using the H19's again, RF97's in garage and the BP's sold.

I have way too many frames. Many more in the garage.

Just when I thought PT2.0 is going to be my one and only Wilson's got to come out with that H22 I've been hearing about for a decade! :X3:

Oh well, I'm $300 down, Blade Pro 18x20 Alu Power @ 46lbs up.

So I finally got it on saturday and played it stock with just overgrip and rubber band (strung by Wilson with Alu Power 17 at 45lbs).

First impression is HELL YEA! It's VERY similar in feel and flex to PT2.0, just has a bit bigger stringbed and slightly more polarized setup with more weight at the tip. Unlike my PT2.0 that are now with Roman at R.P.N.Y for TK82S swap, I don't have to mess around with the grip shape on this Blade Pro (H22).

It's not often that I feel I can play a frame without adding weight and this is one of those rare frames along with RF97 and PT2.0. There is a slight torsional instability that I noticed, so I'll be adding a little lead at around 3&9 and then maybe a gram or two on the handle to get it perfect.

Can this be the PT2.0 PLUS? A little bigger head, a little more spin with same great feel and control? More testing to come.

I made further mods to my BP 16x19. I replaced the original grip with a Volkl Leather one. This has pushed the static weight to 359g, made the racquet even more HL, reduced the thickness of the grip slightly, and made the racquet much more maneuverable.

I was able to hit all my shots with no problem, including serves. What was re-confirmed was that the racquet is strung too tight. It was still comfortable despite this, but will significantly improve once the tension is lowered. The power that this racquet possesses was evident even with the much higher tension, as my serves and groundstrokes were penetrating and heavy, my slices low and skidding, and my ability to punish short balls... off the charts.

The BP 16M is now only 6g heavier than my UT 18x20 and UP 16x19 but feels similarly balanced.

I'm very much looking forward to hitting with this racquet again, and now that the balance and stability are spot-on, I can focus solely on exploring the enormous potential and performance that this racquet possesses.

I agree!! I put on a Wilson leather and over grip with 1 gram at 3 and 9 and it was a different Blade. I strung mine up with Hyper G 17guage @ 52lbs. Total weight is at 347 g. The only problem I have is I can’t get my other BP to play and feel like this with the same mods.

So far I like the BP 16x19 better that the 18x20. Long story short.... it's just more manageable and maneuverable. Coming from the UT I appreciate the extra power and spin the BP 16x19 provides. I find no difference in accuracy between the two. The BP 16x19 is a comfortable racquet. No elbow or shoulder soreness after a long match. I have not spent much time with the UP 16x19 yet, but I have a gut feeling that the BP 16 x19 is my Goldilocks racquet.

4 more blade pros in for me today. All 18x20. Unstrung weights are all 309 or 310, and balances are between 32.3 and 32.6 which is all tolerable. Swingweight is a different story. Had two at 311 unstrung which match the two I already had (one was 311 stock and the other is up to 311 after starting at 307) then one at 319 and one at 326! The two heavy ones are headed back or going to be sold. 341 sw strung is about perfect for me on this frame, and 356 strung swingweight is way more than I want to handle.

I added leather grip, with string (17g), overgrip (7g), my blade pro (18x20) weighs 337g, swing weight 341-343 (differs after try different tension), balance point between 328 and 329mm.
I am extremely happy with its groundstroke and slice. Serve is good, average power level will generate great speed already, but still don't know how to serve with my biggest power. Anything relating to volley and overhead, I perform clumsily.
Now it settles with Alu power 1.25 at 40lbs. Due to my serving problem with power, I might raise the tension a little bit.
By the way, I ordered an ultra pro 16x19 for my friend, and had it delivered to my country by a third-party service. Today when I opened the box with my friend, there were two of them. After I checked my credit card and my order, I am pretty sure I only ordered one.
I live in China.

Anyone know if you can buy grommets for the 18x20? Or if any other bumper guard will work?
Edit: Nvm, its available on Wilson's site. I thought it wasn't available because when I emailed their customer service if they carry the grommets and they told me no.

Does the head guard of the 16 19 blade pro work on the H22?
This is the real question! I’d assume no, but I’ve seen h22s with what looks to be PS97 grommets, at least on the sides due to grommets holes that are longer (would fit PWS) so it could be worth a shot or maybe somebody could Frankenstein one to fit.

Zebra?

I do recall prior discussion that H19 and H22 were Wilson's efforts to provide to prior HEAD using professionals a familiar feel. So not surprizing.

Reminds me a lot of my Austrian Radical Bumblebee Os. Has a similar balance and swing to it as well.

I can see this comp. Earlier I was saying it was kind of like a Pro Staff Classic, and I think it kind of is, but with the smoother finish of the Bumblebee.

Whatever it is, it's a great frame. But beginners need not apply.

Hi all, I'm from Italy and I've just received and unpacked my Blade Pro 18*20.

Is this Wilson QC??

It doesn't have flex feel, and I don't really know that there's a version of the Blade that it feels very similar to. It's pretty much a completely different frame. To me it feels kind of like a lighter RF97, but the feel is pretty unique.

I tried the BP side by side with a 2013 blade and a v7. It certainly doesnt feel like either of them. Your right it feels more like a lighter, flexier RF97. My BP came in at 311g with plastic on handle so its about the weight of the blades but it feels more solid and stable.... maybe its the different beam shape, maybe they put magic pixie dust in the layup, who knows.

I've used the CV Blades extensively and it definitely doesn't feel like those either.
I'm sure the stability comes from the boxier beam, and I feel like I remember someone on here saying they're foam-filled, which would also account for some stability and comfort.

This racquet has nothing to do with blade. Think of h22 in a blade paint job.. specs are similar.. feel and pocketing and the way ball leaves the string bed is completely different. If you compare 16x19 v7 to this, BP will have much more pop and less control but more spin.. control is very good but you do need to be attacking to access the control. It does not have any gimmicks wild bounces or hot spots.. its just no nonsense great racket. Some of them come in super high SW.. mine is 334 sw.. first set is good but 2nd set my serve is dragging little bit. It has ton of power on serves though.. easy power too. Its not like you have to really hit well for power.. you have to hit well (positioning and balance wise) to access the control.

I sent one back to wilson over a month ago and they still have not refunded. They messed up my return basically. They see that the frame was returned but they put it under someone else’s name. So just beware when dealing with them, follow up with their customer service if you dont see the credit back to you. This is one of the downsides of the Direct to Consumer model with Wilson. The positive is they ship pretty fast.
