This is already too sad...

I really don't see why they would delay it? what's the difference if January or March? They have 0 cases and can't pull it off....

It's because the Australian government doesn't accept overseas flights for December and if players arrive in January they will have to quarantine for 14 days... That's not proper time to have any decent preparation... They will delay it for sure.

I have so many ideas on how to reply to this but I promised 24 hours without putting down Djokovic... Still 22 hours left.
Too bad I never made any such promises.

No way does Rafael Nadal have the same amount of World Tour Final titles (0) as me (0) :-D:-D:-D

You have never even qualified while he has 2 Finals and 4 SF... I think Nadal is already looking forward for the slams next year.

They need to get the insurance - PMAC or Gilbert mentioned it today. They're probably concerned about liability too.

Australia is a pretty sad, lousy country if it can't get its act together and host the tournament.
When you have things like these:

I give them a little leeway.

Then why are you here since tennis is so unimportant compared to the rest of "life", you shouldn't even waste 1 second on this forum.

Cool man. To each his/her own.

I don’t log on here often, and only when I need a mental break. Tennis has been a lifelong hobby and interest. Not invested super emotionally in these vicarious debates about pros anymore....

Not when a friend who’s been on the frontlines of the pandemic as a nurse for months is now down with COVID herself and battling it in isolation and I can’t do anything for their family.

Outta here as you suggested. Good night!

I imagine he's here because tennis is a sort of hobby for him, rather than something vitally important or worth feeling sadness over

I expect some players will skip the Aussie Open this year just like many skipped the U.S. Open and the French. It is a huge investment for players - who are hurting financially from a lack of tournaments for months now - to fly down to Australia and have to quarantine for 2 weeks in order to play 1 tournament. Australia will have to put together a group of tournaments leading up to the Aussie Open to make it worth the trip. I fully expect it to be delayed. Air travel will continue to be restricted for many more months. Many players will also want to avoid the long flights to Australia for safety reasons. I anticipate that Indian Wells and Miami may have better draws than the Aussie Open.

Yeah well normal people would feel a little sad if one of their "hobbies" is no longer there.

Yes there are horrible things happening in the world like murders, rape, wars, illness, and that's why a form of entertainment such as sports is very welcome to have a break from it all. Good night.

"Many" did not voluntarily skip either the FO or USO unless you consider like 4% of players to be many.

You had top ten players like Simona Halep not play the U.S. Open and Ashleigh Barty who did not play either the USO and the FO. Kyrgios also did not play either. There were other important players who did not play these slam tournaments for safety reasons during the pandemic. They were missed.

Sure Halep didn't play USO because of covid but she played French that even allowed some attendance and bubble measures were farcical as players stayed in a hotel with regular visitors. Same like Nadal. All because of "covid".

Covid-19 is a serious virus. It is not a hoax. And, it is to be feared. Even someone as fit as Dimitrov had a difficult time recovering from it. It appears the people running the Australian Open are taking the virus much more seriously than The French Tennis Federation.

You must be new here. That guy is the biggest COVID denier on this forum, there no getting through to people like that.
