Thats why I said, Thiem is trash.
He will not have his time because in an year or 2 the run of the 1997-2001 borns will begin, infact it already seems to have begun.

Seems like his was mentally tired (as well as physically) from the Kygrios match.
6-0 in the 3rd set though, ouch.

Would love to see dimitrov at least makes the semis, he never truly lived up to his potenital.

Talk about the draw opening up for Djokovic lol
I know, he was projected to meet Stan and Thiem on the way, and both are out now.
Just hope his injury isn't too serious, I don't really see him losing to Raonic, but Zverev could challenge him in the QF, if both make it that far.

The press was harping about a tough draw for Novak from the beginning.
Now he might make the final WITHOUT losing a set.
Nadal has Fognini/Titspas/Medvedev - He might have to play 3 consecutive five setters.

Djokovic is very injured so this is inconsequential. Djokovic fans tell me it's a real injury unlike Nadal's injuries so I'm expecting Djokovic to lose tonight.
If Novak wins in straights, then what? That is the likely outcome. Have you seen Raonic-Djokovic matches in the past? Raonic hasn't even come close to winning a TB. He's lost every single one to Novak.

I really don't see this as much different from when he crashes out of Wimbledon every year.

It's usually a combo of mental & physical exhaustion from the clay season combined with the surface really not playing to his style. Same thing happened here. Why he looked so burned out early in the year, I don't know. But he did for whatever reason.

Raonic is the number 15 tennis player in the world playing in the 4th round of a slam. He is not losing to a severely injured tennis player. Unless of course he is not severely injured?

I'd add 1996 borns in that stretch too. Medvedev, Berrettini and possibly Khachenov are all strong contenders going forward

Oh come on, so whenever Thiem loses he is tired right?

Thiem loses to Nadal at RG 2019: he was supposedly tired.
Thiem loses to Schwartzman at RG 2020: he was supposedly tired.
Thiem loses to Dimitrov at the AO 2021: he was supposedly tired.

I have an easier explanation. He lost because his opponents have a higher peak level than him. Nadal (even in his early 30s) has a much higher peak level at RG than Thiem, Schwartzamn has an equally high peak level at RG than Thiem (remember RG 2018 when Schwartzman won 1 set against Nadal at RG while Thiem lost in straight sets to Nadal) and Dimitrov has a higher peak level at the AO than Thiem (remember the AO 2017 SF where Dimitorv displayed a much better level.than anything ever produced by Thiem).

The last scoreline in AO 2020: 6-3, 6-4, 7-6. Djokovic thrashed Raonic.
Raonic hasn't won a set vs Novak. How do you think Raonic beats him?

Excellent post. Sometimes the right answer is the one that is the simplest.
Thiem loses because he is NOT good enough and his game is not efficient enough to persevere for a long season and slam matches.
I've NEVER seen a weaker slam performance from a slam champion. The last UsOpen he won was because there was no one playing.
I hope for the sake of tennis - Thiem NEVER comes close to winning another slam.

Because Djokovic is severely injured this time. That's what Djokovic and all his fans have led me to believe. I put all my faith in them.
Your faith is touching but unfortunately misplaced. I would trust the ESPN Crew. Cahill and Mary Jo Fernandez actually said Novak had a FULL practice session with big serve, forehands and volleys without looking hampered.
Does that seem like a serious injury? Also Chris Mcendry the ESPN host said Raonic is Novak's pigeon.

Yes I put all my faith in TTW Djokovic fans and Nadal haters. They are my best source of information.

This much is true. Djokovic could have multiple limbs severed and still beat Raonic.

I watched both of Djokovic’s previous matches and at best I would call his form average even had he closed Fritz in 3. But yes, bump would be appreciated.
Thank you. I will.
Just so that I'm clear you think that Novak in AO QF will play at the same level as plays in R3?
Haven't you seen Novak struggling in wk1 and then destroying everyone in week 2?

As they say in the Market: Past history is NOT an indicator of future performance.
Novak in Week 2 slam>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Novak in wk1 slam
IF Novak plays his best AO type tennis, none of the guys in his half have a prayer, now that Thiem is out.
I was just making fun of you. You said he might make the final without losing a set, but obviously you meant he won't lose one from here on out.

He already dropped 3, so it's literally impossible for him to make the final without losing a set.

History says that Djokovic remains vulnerable at AO right before semi finals begin, same goes for Nadal at RG. Hard to know what to expect from Djokovic now, but safe to say he won’t be untouchable before Semi.

Understood. I should have phrased better. Makes sense.

Nick vs Grigor would have been entertaining.
Wanted to see Nick meet Novak

This clown Thiem has spoiled everything and now got mauled like a puppy, I hope for the sake of Tennis he never progresses beyond the Semis in any slam ever.
