As things stand now, Novak Djokovic is the overwhelming 'give him the trophy already' favorite to win the Wimbledon title this year.

What can/Who can potentially stop the grass-eating, **** throwing Serbian from winning the 6th Wimbledon title?

Make your pick(s) and please have a civilized discussion.

Thenks.

Desperation seems to be rising.

You're making me bump all of those "someone please beat Novak at 2021 AO" threads. There are at least 10+ of them.

While you're at it, predict a CYGS for him.

One of the main reasons he won the AO this year is due to many players suffering injuries that either forced them to pull out or visibly hampered their performance. By Wimbledon, the other challengers would be in much better shape.

I find the poll options amusing.

Thiem, Medvedev, Tsitsipas have shown NOTHING on grass as of yet, Zverev has shown little. Kyrgios hasn't shown much since several years back and Wawrinka's last chance was in 2015 pre double knee surgery. The only poll option even possible to discuss is a 40 year old man coming off TWO surgeries on his right knee that will have been going through rehab as recently as 7 months prior to the event.

It's quite hilarious how much of a gift this tournament is going to be for Novak. I suppose a type of justice for missing out on Wimbledon last year due to pandemic and BS disqualification at USO.

If they recover from their injuries or if others do not get injured, or if Fedr does not serve for the match.

Thiem is almost always spent mentally and physically at the end of Clay Season. I, for one, wonder how well he would fare if he spent his energy on Grass rather than on Clay.

Shu-Pak

Rookie
Goran Ivanisevic coach = best serve on tour
Ulises Badio (physio coach) = best shape on tour
Djokovic mental strength = best on tour

Djokovic humor (key factor here) = best on tour

This is why he will win Wimbledon this year.

Disclaimer: my prediction is based on facts that are not facts but only opinions pulled out of my rear end.

The grass field is even weaker than the hard court field. Novak provided he’s fully fit is a massive favourite for Wimbledon this year.

Worried about what? 2 slam lead is massive at this point.
Well nadal fans have more reason for optimism because he keeps winning the french and is a threat at us open. However, fed fans realistically must be fearing the worst right now.

Novak is 6 years younger than Fed and 2 back. Djoko has more slams than what federer had at 33. No matter what some say, if fed wins another slam at nearly 40, after another massive knee injury lay-off it will be a big surprise. Novak is a big favourite at Australia and Wimbledon going forward and still a threat at us open. Therefore, barring something strange happening Fed looks destined for 3rd position. The fight between Rafa and Novak will likely go on after they pass roger. Just my view.

This abdomen tear changes things and what many of us have said about the Slam race. I.e injuries are key. Realistically he is out for 2 months without risking aggravating it. Clay is brutal for the abdomen as one has to generate their own power. Wimbledon is straight after. He has a decision to make now i think. He gambled and all credit he won the AO. But at what cost?

I don't think he gambled on anything. He'll come back fresh just like he came back fresh after the Fritz match.

He can rest up. 4-6 weeks is enough time to recover. Plus with his great team, physio’s and doctors he probably recover faster.

It’s no big deal as luckily the next majors are months away. He really doesn’t need to play Dubai, Miami or even Monte Carlo. I feel he will be back by probably April though.

It was worth it because he won it. If it was a serious injury that could cause a lengthy layoff of several months then he wouldn’t have been able to compete or win the tournament. Novak said himself between a month to 2 months is more than enough time to get over the issues. He will just want to make sure.

He will be fine for the rest of the slams this year. I’d worry about Fed more having to play best of 5 matches at his age and after lengthy knee injury. Literally if one player gets Fed into a long match now he’s pretty much done.

His only gamble was a safe bet that had he lost any match after the Fritz match, he could have claimed his "injury" as an explanation.

You forgot to add the lineswoman as an option. I'm not even kidding, she probably has bigger chances to take out Djoker at Wimbledon than any Next/Lost Gen player lmao.

I can only see Djokovic being beaten at Wimbledon in the scenario where someone has an incredible serving match as well as flawless ground game. That is going to be very few players. The only one I can think of who an outside chance... the mental toughness and the skills/ability to do it is Kevin Anderson.

Kevin Anderson looked really good against Berrettini (even though he lost). If he plays himself back into form... I think he is the only one who has a chance.

It isn't Federer. No chance. Federer simply blows way too many break points, set points, and match points at critical times. Djokovic plays way too tough in tight scoring clutch moments for Federer to take him out.

Nobody. Most likely Federer will get to the final again and pick up yet another runners-up title to Djokovic. He will set the all-time record at Wimbledon for runner-up titles with 5.
