Novak's last TEN years!!

Pretty mind boggling decade of excellence. (2011 to present)

86 Finals appearances in 10 years
64 tournament victories
17 major championships

90% winning percentage

It's one of the greatest 10 year periods of excellence in SPORTS history.
Who else compares for a 10 year stretch of utter brilliance? (Federer from 2003-2012), Nadal from 2005-2014, Serena, Michael Phelps, Babe Ruth, Pele, Michael Jordan, Steffi Graf, Wayne Gretzky, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods...I'm sure I'm forgetting a few)

Novak has proven to be one of the top 20 sports athletes of all time, maybe top 10-15.

The amount of money and beers that guy won me over the last ten years... Safest pick ever, yet my foolish relatives and friends just don't stop betting against him in my presence.

This decade has been Novak as a whole.

But its been phases if we are honest. Nadal and Federer didn't exactly fade into the dusk; RG was still Rafa's stomping ground. Fed came back from injury to add 3 more slams to his 17 at an age no one thought possible prior.

Stan, Murray had their peak moments and snagged slams, something which the lost gen and nextgen failed to do.

And who is greater than him? Federer?

Federer and Nadal (just) remain greater than him in my opinion.

(Not in terms of #1 stats, but writing "the greatest #1" basically means the same thing as "greatest player to be ranked #1" in my mind - although I don't think that's what Nole Slam meant as such)

From 2001 to 2010 , Fed won 6 Wimbledons

From 2011 to 2019, Novak won 5 Wimbledons .

I wish there was no 2020 WB cancellation , and Novak would have a chance to win 6 WB too ,in a decade .

Hopefully , I hope 2021 WB doesn't get cancelled again .

You're starting from when Novak reached his peak and are counting years when Fed hadn't even blossomed yet. And that's on top of counting 10 years for Federer and just 9 for Djokovic.

2003-2009, Fed won 6 Wimb's in 7 years vs Novak winning 5 in 9 years.

Djokovic is on the verge on becoming the greatest world number one of all time. Most week at number one, record equalling most year end number ones, oldest ever year ending world number one.
... No1 with most ATP points accumulated + No1 with greatest ATP points difference from the rest of the field + No1 with most ELO points accumulated + ...

All of this makes Novak's decade shine brighter, right?

Pelé, Gretzky, Jordan? Pelé was world class from the very Start, 1956-1966 age 15-25 might be the greatest dominance of the first ten years of anyone’s career.
Actually I must amend that statement. Bolt didn't lose a race in the 100, 200 or 100x4 from 2008 to 2016, so it's only 9 years.

And I must admit, as the biggest Jordan fan ever, that his stretch from 1986-87 to 1997-1998 was one of the best ever. Really, he was the best player in the world in every single one of those years. But the NBA didn't want to give out 10 MVPs to the same guy in a row. He was practically the best player from when he turned pro to when he retired

Gretzky I don't know much about, so I will not comment on him.

I'd definitely put Pele in that category as well, but football isn't as well-defined as running. I also think sprinting is the ultimate sport, and because the margins are so thin, winning every single race for 9 years is pretty insane.

Not sure how rankings now are working but ill bet Nadal is YE1 this season if he wins more Majors which i think he may. Federer is Djokovics problem at W. Big problem. No W for Djoker no YE1.
Problem for the weeks at no.1 issue is most are not bothered by it as YE1 is bigger and anyway Djokovic got assisted with Covid rankings as points could not be lost etc.

Put in Karelin in Greco Roman Wrestling who was undefeated for 13 years without loosing a point for six of those years. This includes 3 Olympic gold medals or if we restrict it to a ten years span 2 gold medals. Jordan was definitely not the best in 94 and 95, well in 94 he did not play but in 95 he did and no way he was better than Hakeem in this year.

Djokovic has no era. Federer was the top dog his era, then Nadal took over. Djokovic has played 2nd fiddle to Nadal his whole career as always playing catch up. They are only a year apart age wise.

We did all the calculations on this forum in many threads. Fed is the biggest beneficiary of covid rankings, with Nadal benefiting a lot also. Main loser of covid rankings is Novak. Nice try, though.

Lol that is just wishful thinking. Anyway im not bothered about rankings as winning Majors will take care of rankings this year.

Read it again lol. My statement is factual. If Nadal wins more majors he will be YE1. That is how the rankings work. I do not know if you are aware but Majors have 2000 points. That is much more than other events.
You on the other hand say Djokovic will get 20 Majors. And to that i correct the comment and say...if if if.
