Federer with ON Tennis shoes Dubai

I think they're badass.

Yeah, some of us don't want to look like clowns on court as some of the tennis shoes and apparel manufacturers seem to think. A neutral shoe with slight colour accents that goes with most decent clothes is a very welcome thing, as long as it fits and does its job. Actually some of us have wanted something like that for years, but no one was able to provide it.

EXACTLY! I'm actually pumped when I think about OM's reputation for cushioning as well.

Yes, we will see what they did with the shoe, once it is out, but I am mildly optimistic. Obviously, the fit will be a major point, so I really really hope that they have made notes and will sell normal and wide options. I don't ask for much more. I don't care, if they sell the same shoe for 5 years. As long as it fits, is cushioned, and is stable enough, I will be a customer.

And, just to add, I really don't want a six-month sole guarantee. When I grew up playing tennis, that's how you knew you needed a new pair; the soles wore out. You can't see your midsole (cushioning) wear out and now that I'm an old man, my knees have to tell me. NOT GOOD!

I find it so odd that fed still hasn't figured out his RF logo situation. In the practice video I shared there is no RF logo but instead the R logo from "The Roger" shoe and then uniqlo still isn't including the RF logo on his clothing except the hat.
For Uniqlo, that stuff was in the pipeline and done long before the RF was settled. I'd expect to see it at maybe W or the USO latest. For the R* logo, dunno. If I was Fed, I'd have the RF on my sleeve, shoe, and while we're at it, the throat of the Wilson, just above the grip.

These shoes are almost unlike any tennis shoe I've ever seen, not just by color(or lack thereof). I am a New Balance Fresh foam lav user, and the on shoe resembles it a tiny bit. As someone who switched from the barricade 2,3, and 4, I welcome this look. The NBs are the best shoes currently on the market. Hope the ons have outsole durability.

Small aside, rewatching again, did anyone else notice the snub or non-acknowledgement from Thiem at the beginning there?
if you look, thiem raised his hand to say hi. you can see the sliver of green when he raised his hand along with his shoe

I guess when you've closely followed all the Nike releases for years, this On shoe does seem comparatively bland, but like someone said, sometimes a plain white sneaker fits the bill. Perhaps as a 40 year old player it will actually kind of suit him for the farewell tour.

Yea I dont get the hate of the looks. I mean Nike gets hate the other way for their rather loud shoe designs and colors. The shoe looks to have a lot of different color blocking options with various panels and textures especially around the heal and into the midsole. That said I love ON running shoes, and have rather wide feet so as someone else said if these tennis shoes fit anywhere near as good my runners I am in.

They'll definitely be a hit with the country club set, especially if the magnetic lace thingy is included on the production versions.

They are plain, but I’m down to give them a shot. I like On as a company and have been wearing their shoes and clothes for years, plus Nike has finally destroyed the Vapor line with this new era of over-teched cement show crap. One concern is durability as I’ve had three On shows in their first generation that utterly broke (Surfers, Cloudventure Peak, Cloud Terry’s), but they improved the design flaws quickly and are pretty good at replacing defective product.

Guessing this isn't going to be released for a while. Maybe around Wimbledon? RG if we're lucky? Really dig it though, think it looks good.

Just did a search. According to the website I read which details new shoe drops, the On Federer is a one-off at present. On may release tennis-centric products going forward. The verbiage made it sound like a decision hasn't been made yet.

Well that's sad.

Of course they will. They're a relatively small player in this, and you don't leave that kinda money on the table. The casual line is out there; expect this at retail by Wimbledon or the USO.

Oh yeah, you mean just like Under Armour did with Andy Murray's shoe? I got it......

Is this just the paint job they do to racquets for shoes?
I wonder if the base is copy of the shoe he has been using for years and ON just added their outer? Maybe afraid to release it to the public in case Nike wants to sue?

I hope this doesn't end up being another Under Armour with Murray's shoes. I wanted to try the UA shoes as I like their running shoes and they seem to fit my foot the best, but alas they never made it. I'd definitely try these on in a store though to see how they feel, which is a must now a days as some of these new shoes just are not comfortable at all.

Murray doesn't have quite the brand cache that Fed has.
No argument there, but he had enough cache that Under Armour spent 2 years developing a shoe for him (that they didn't retail). The only two male pros I saw wear them were Andy and Jamie.

And, Federer's UniQlo apparel isn't available in retail chains, only limited at UniQlo stores despite the aforementioned cache.

Don't get me wrong, I hope it goes on sale. I'd love to give them a try. But it doesn't look like a 100% thing at the moment.

Looks like a light quick vaporesque shoe to me. As long as they got the fit right I’m sure they will get a ton of people to switch over. Interested to try the tread pattern as well the vapors were meh imo

I captured a still of the outsole from the video:

That resembles Yonex's clay court sole. If that is the true sole, I wonder if it'll be an all surface one... Will it work on grass?

RE the carbon fiber build, Federer did mention that (if produced) it would be at a higher price point. As long as it's not $200+, I ain't scared.

The shoes look sweet and I would consider buying a pair to actually play in. But if this shoe or a version of the shoe will not be available to public, it's a vanity project, which is fine but don't get the consumer's hope up just to build hype.

Don't worry guys, the shoe will be on the market sooner or later. Federer will be putting them through their paces and they will probably tweak them before release. It is smart thinking to not rush production for a shoe that hasn't been tested in real matches, or, indeed, for durability.

Look closely and you can see the carbon fibre shank...beautiful weave! Many aspects copied from the Vapors unsurprisingly.
