Pusher Takes on TT Atlanta

I don't think you appreciate the racquet and body and mind control it takes for full stroke interruptus.
I mean there are few possible explanations. Like, just a split second before some of the gorilla tape used to tune the racket fell off.... Or maybe the wristband has not absorbed enough sweat yet (or absorbed too much) and that messed up the whole setup......
I just can't accept that such a finely tuned equipment and strokes, as documented in soo many threads, could result in such, well, how to phrase it, unorthodox looking play.... :)

I get the impression he doesn't spend much time on seeking acceptance. This was Trav earlier in the day:

Update:

After my match today against a Paraguayan teaching pro, I mentioned that I was planning to play against a famous pusher next week.

He asks me, is he left handed? Yes. ‘I think I know him! Is he Green Shirt Guy?’

Amazing. I had no idea that @GSG ‘s celebrity status has spread so far that he is being watched by tennis pros in third world countries.

The moment reminded me of the scene from Romancing the Stone when the Colombian drug lord recognizes Joan Wilder the romance novelist.

He asked me if Green Shirt Guy can come down to Paraguay to play against the stable of pros down here at his club. I told him I would pass along the invitation, and he got quite excited at the possibility.

Neat! Thanks for sharing. I told my wife about this and she was greatly amused.
GSG, you should create a youtube channel or something man to reap some of the benefits of your fame. You can become a traveling tennis player that everyone in the world wants to play. It could provide a nice little side income doing something you love. Your sense of humor seems great too, "circle strategy, clockwise or counterclockwise"

I think I need to see a doctor, that legitimately hurts my soul.

I just a left a hipster coffee shop. It was packed with liberals, whispering amongst each other about what a commendable job GSG did with Ian -- America is PROUD!

Trav losses to someone with off the shelf stock racquet probably challenges his worldview. But don't confuse "challenging it" with "changing it".

I used to play in these shady semi-pro money tournaments, so I and my 16 identically matched and strung racquets were warming up at the club where I used to train and just as I'm about to leave the director who was an NCAA champion, ATP player, blah blah blah, comes out of his office, grabs a demo off the rack, and says "see you there J."

Was it a Jack Kramer autograph still in the wooden press?

Gotta hate those guys. 8-B I always repeat a Garth Brooks ... paraphrasing:

"here I am a fat guy sweating my a.$.$ off singing/entertaining ... and there is George Strait standing there singing".

My first high school racket was a Wilson Jack Kramer Prostaff ... followed by Davis. I broke the first Davis hitting an overhead on that skinny throat ... head went farther than the ball. Finished high school with the aluminum red throated Head AMF which was a major improvement over the wood racquets ... even with the tiny head size (tried looking up spec ... saw one reference to 64 sq in head size ... no wonder I sucked in high school tennis 8-B )

Just imagine if you had a 120in^2 racquet in HS: you'd be in the top 100 now!

Don't you think if I started with 120 ... I would be playing with a Weed or Big Bubba now? Which btw ... transitioning from hijacking Trav's thread ;) ... Trav will probably be customing old Weed racquets in 10 years.

you don't say. I have a story too.
Back in the days when my local club cared about tennis there was an open tournament with pretty good monetary award. Quite a few players from local D1 schools participated (Illinois, UoC, Northwestern, Notre Dame, etc), plus few Futures and Challenger level dudes. So I'm in locker room and one of the players is changing there. We struck a conversation, and I was hoping to get for some invaluable knowledge on benefits of slick poly, or perhaps advantages of proportional stringing, or at the least whether he prefers lockout or a constant pull machine - so I asked him "what do you string with?" He looks straight at me and says dead serious "hmm, with a tennis string......" I never felt more stupid in my life. Then he grabs his two not-the-same-brand rackets and a towel, no bag, walks onto the court wearing those Chuck Taylor converse shoes, and proceeds to wipe out a dude that at that time was playing #2 singles for Illinois team.
