Imagine Roger Federer with 6000-7000 RPMs on his forehand and with a double backhand with lot of RPMs and power ?

Also with 10-14 MPH more on his 1st and second serves too ...

How many French Opens would he win ?

How many overall slams would he win in total in a period of 20 years?

So what if he was a less athletic version of Rafa Nadal...?

So basically, give Roger groundstrokes twice as heavy as any in the history of the sport, plus Milos Raonic's serve? And really, if someone were capable of 7000 RPMs on the forehand, they'd also be capable of routinely hitting kick serves that go well over their opponent's head. There'd be no need to ever hit a fast serve. Just hit a 90 mph kicker that lands in the 5th row every time.

I mean, he'd pretty obviously never lose a match with those attributes. He'd win 80 slams in 20 years.

Eh...
Fed's forehand has always been a bit more versatile than Nadal's. Nadal had to work for a long time on flattening out his forehand, while Fed's was always well-rounded. I don't think more spin would help his forehand.

A 2hbh, I think, would go against Fed's whole style. He can slice and use his 1hbh to approach the net better than he probably could with a 2hbh.

If he had Roddick's serve with his same accuracy? I wouldn't mind seeing that. How many more French Opens would he have won? How many did Roddick win?

Rafa is the most athletic player of his times like Sampras was of his time, that is for sure, nobody is more athletic than Nadal.

Federer is the probably the fittest athlete playing Tennis ever, never injured, ideal movement and game.

Roddick's power with his accuracy would definitely give him 3-4 more wimbledons and perhaps some more HC Slams too.

For the French he needs that backhand for sure, no beating Nadal without it.

Lol, you are right, he would win everything. It is like a perfect player from 50 years into the future, superior in everything.

5000 RPMs would be good along with a stronger serve

You make it sound like Roger doesn't hit his forehand with a lot of topspin. He already has a heavy forehand himself and it is easily one of the best forehands ever seen in tennis. He doesn't need to change anything about his forehand.

I mean if we're just talking about changing one stroke then fair. OP is basically proposing a hypothetical that turns him into a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT person which defeats the purpose of hypotheticals
Yeah I know and didn't take this thread seriously, I just thought it would be cool to have more players with Guga's BH these days. Such a great shot.

If he had that, he would have had to have less of something else, no?
So what are we taking away?

Probably none, considering his success depends on taking time away from his opponents by catching the ball on the rise and redirecting-adding to it's pace, something which would be almost impossible with a two handed BH and a topspin FH.

Fed's not a grinder, he doesn't have the stamina for it.

It's like proposing McEnroe to play baseline tennis.

A better question would be a right handed Rafa with a flat FH and BH, and a net game. Basically, give him early the classic tennis teaching Fed received: how many slams would he win ?

You jealous freak ..... why can't you at least acknowledge that if Fed had a forehand with 7000 RPMs and a double hander of the same then he would automatically be a powerful grinder too, won't he be a superior athlete to even Rafa?

When will some people learn! Players with big serves want to shorten the points, and lessen the reaction time of their opponents! Hitting with more topspin will just do the opposite!

OK, but less error margin than flat hitting. And high balls less controlable to return.
