Club pro crushing some shots...

Great dubs overall, but Chase...boom!

Winston always has some great players to watch, and lots of things to learn from.

I was a member of that club (RCI) for a couple of years. It was there that I started my tennis career.

Notice the structure on the left? That is the clubhouse. It had a bar and restaurant and that is where I spent Sundays, alternating with some playing.

It was the club where I saw Lindsay Davenport practicing on the clay courts before her European season.

I remember playing in a seniors tournament in the age 50-55 category and came up against a 240 lb Italian ex-futures player (or whatever it was called 25 years ago). He hit FH's like Chase. Ball was by you before you even had a chance to turn your shoulders. We ended up just trying to hit low slices at him to stay out of his wheelhouse which did work a bit. Still lost 6-1 6-4. But it was interesting to face someone with real power.

Great match. Chase was chilling.... must have been top line at the D3, probably 10.5-11 UTR, the top end of 5.5.

Chase is a crazy good player, from the eye test, probably UTR 12+.

I will say 10.5-11 UTR is not 5.5. I peaked at UTR 11 in 2013 and got up to 10.51 in November 2019 at my peak, post-junior level and I'm nowhere near 5.5

Yikes that guy was crazy. Also what kind of maniac does a drop serve in doubles against that forehand. Trying to get his partner killed...

I've played a bit at RCI over the years and used to live right down the street. It's one of the few places in the area with clay courts.

I'd say your UTR is a bit more accurate....things like 5.5 are more general guidelines.

Out of curiosity... Why do you call it a club pro or a teaching pro? It means one of the coaches in a particular club, right?

His current UTR is 9 :D thanks to the highly accurate match decay bs algo they have going on.
If you check his previous matches a few years back as well as the Redland's D3 first line, that was somewhere between 11 and 12, very very far from 4.5 tennis....

Is he normally a two hand backhand? Those volleys were beautiful

Also, what racquet is he playing, I couldn’t tell?

I know what the outcome will be.

Honestly I have been sandbagging matches for years and intentionally gaining a bit of weight back in hopes of disarming Matt and getting him to let his guard down and decide to play a "friendly" match with him. I even plied him with sushi. Just for that moment I can break out my 120 mph serves and 90mph groundies in a whirl of first strike tennis, leaving him wondering what just happened. It has to happen soon because I am NOT sure I can stand losing and looking this mediocre on court. It is difficult, really.

So I get first crack before GSG man! :giggle:

Yeah but how many speak Russian well enough to tell? Mine consists of "nyet" and "da svedanya" [?].
It's "dō" like in "donut". And "svid" like in "video". And "ni" like in "Knights who say Ni". Do svidaniya. But many in Moscow spell "Do" more like "Da" (and many o's like a's generally), while some other regions spell o's very clean.
You always know a non-native Russian speaker... And you always know a Russian (and some other relative nations) speaking in English

Div 3 college tennis? I thought he'd be div2 at the very least! He looks easily good enough to have a top 1000 ATP ranking!?
