Jura claims that the Tour version of the Storm is RED like this:

It is nearly identical to the orange storm we've been talking about.

I'm curious why they don't put guys like gonzalez or ginepri with the Tour paintjob.
They've always used the Control and they would get more exposure for that racquet.
The Storm already has plenty of pros with it.
Becker is the only guy I've seen with the Red Tour paintjob.

If anybody knows...
Will the Pure Storm Tour, as successor to Pure Control, be more flexible since it is using the Storm name.

Or is the new Storm going to be produced heavier, maintaining 63ish flex?

Thanks,
~Tursa

You didn't even read OP did you?

Look at the throat!

Now take the orange part and with your imagination or Photoshop..make it Red.
There is no Cortex!

Either way, you can definitely put me down for one!... As someone recently torn between buying the Storm or the PC, this might be exactly what I'm looking for?... can't wait to hear more about it.

Neither do I, they should just make the new storm PJ the same as the old one but with a matte finish rather than glossy.

When is Benjamin Becker supposed to switch over to one of the Boris Becker Tennis racquets? Perhaps during Wimbledon? They have been touting him as being the first pro to be sponsored by the new Boris Becker Tennis.

Do you really think he will switch racquets? He is already 25? and has been playing with Babolats for a long time. His window to make a mark on the pro tour is rather small and so he may not want to use some of that time to get used to a new racquet. OTOH, money is a big motivator....

BP, are the Pure control/storm series really a box beam like the 6.0 95? If so, a pure storm tour with the right flex might be an interesting alternative... What do you think?

Hi oldguy,

I don't think it's out of the question for Ben Becker to switch racquets, it's possible IMHO. I mean Nalbandian switched from a POG to a RDX 500 in the middle of his career and Davydenko switched from whatever he was using to the Prince O3 Tour. Neither of these are paintjobs of their old racquets due to the Yonex headshape and the O3 Ports.

Neither the Pure Control nor the Pure Storm have box beams like the ProStaffs do. I doubt you'll like the Babolats as I've found all of them to be too stiff and too powerful.

Thanks for the info. TW describes the storm as having a box beam like the Pure Control. Must be different somehow?

I have had the same experience with Bab's but the Pure Storm has a 64 flex so I was just thinking...

However, my Pro Staffs are comfy and easy to swing. With a gut hybrid and low tensions, I seem to have plenty of power and they still look good. Guess I better get a couple more this summer.

Actually, I think TW describes them as having a "straight beam" which is very different and not the same thing as a box beam. Straight beam just means that it does not vary in width from the top of the head down to the handle (from the side), so 21.5mm all the way down It does not describe the shape of the beam.

Some racquets have beams that vary in width from the top to the middle to the bottom, like this one:

I understand the straight beam vs. variable width...

This is minor I realize, but of interest to me...Click on the storm link and read the first sentence. Am I missing something? And are there any other racquets that feature the same box beam construction as the 6.0 95? (Other than the k90 of course)

I see. I've demoed the Pure Control before (but not the Pure Storm) and I don't recall it having a box beam.

The POG and PC600 have "box-like" beams and so does the TF335/320. The RDS001/RDX500 have a hexogonal beam but still has flat sides (not curved) and plays like a box beam to me. But I'd say the PS 6.0 is as boxy as it comes.

Thanks for the info... It's nice to be able to borrow someone else's experience.
