Hello all

In the last month I've been having some Achilles tendon issues, which have progressively worsened to the point that I am not able to play. At first I thought that it might be related to two very demanding matches that I played in the span of 5 days (the first one lasted more than 3 hours, the second one more than 2 hours). Usually I don't play such long games and I was really exhausted and sore. However despite proper rest and resuming only light activity, there is no improvement.

I talked about this with my physio and she pointed out that these issues appeared more less when I started playing in new shoes. Nike Air Zoom Vapor Pro. So I started looking at this and I spotted something that looks strange:

Notice how at the moment when the heel steps on the ground and the sole is loaded, the shoe kind of opens up and widens around the ankle. This drags the rear part of the shoe forward and compresses the tendon. With every step that I make.

At least that's what I see, but maybe I'm just paranoid? It happens when I simply walk, I could easily stick my fingers on both sides of the ankle and at the same time, I feel slight pressure on the tendon. Basically it behaves like this:

Has anybody noticed the same thing about the Air Zoom Vapor Pros? I have zero knowledge about shoe mechanics during gait, so maybe I'm just barking at the wrong tree. However I checked my old tennis shoes and it does not happen, it also doesn't happen with any other casual shoes that I have.

I'll be grateful for any feedback. Maybe someone can check if they have the same phenomenon happening:)
I have the same exact issue with my pair (white). They are size 11US and do the same "flaring" at the sides when I walk. The model itself seems to be longer than other Nike size 11s. The only fix seemed to be lacing them through ALL the eyelets as I had left the topmost eyelets empty when I played in them the first few times. Problem with that is the laces aren't long and stringing them all the way up leaves extremely little length to actually tie both ends together.

I tried on a pair of 10.5 that fit ok recently and they didn't open up at the sides so it could definitely be a sizing issue but I like to wear two pairs of socks when I play and 10.5 would make that uncomfortable so I'm pretty stuck on 11. I just need to find a longer pair of white laces for them.

How do these compare to the vapor x? I stocked up on several pairs of the vapor x, but I will need to make a decision as to what to get next. The air zoom vapor pros seem to have a different construction and lacing system.

"The same as the white and black ones i bought 2 months ago :p But to be more specific, they feel to me like the vapor X, size wise they are a few mm longer, got more space in front but not as much to go up a size. On court they feel fast, light and i dont have any issues with them. I have to tie the shoelaces a bit more than with the vapor X otherwise i get some light heel slippage. Thank god these shoelaces are longer than with the Vapor x"

how long does this Air zoom cushioning last before it goes dead ?
I think you will go through the rubber soles well before you go through the cushioning. I'm on my 4th pair and they all look like brand new except I put holes in the bottom. I will have to say, "these are my favorite Vapors to date. I have had every rendition of them, and I think they get better with each model.

I was a VERY big fan of the Vapor X Knits, these are just as stable if not more and weigh a lot less. They're very light, comfortable and feel secure on your foot. I don't even notice them when I'm playing, I can say without a doubt these are the best tennis shoes I've ever played in.

Worn my Vapor Pro's for a few matches starting to dislike them more and more. One match on my left foot the pinky toe was rubbing big time. I took the shoe off readjusted my thorlos socks and it still rubbed. Next match the right foot started rubbing on top near the laces. Had to throw on my trusty GR8's.

Does anyone know if they'll be releasing the white/orange version that everyone is wearing at the Olympics?

What is up with the in stock dates? It said July 24th for the Red/White and now it says Aug 30th. My order of them never got shipped though. So were they not in stock yet still?

Nice, aren’t they? Same colours and funky swoosh as will be on all of Nike’s shoes for the Olympics. Guess this is a test of how low on the pecking order tennis is for them at the mo…
Do we know when these might drop? They’re incredibly would really like a pair!

I ordered the two-tone blue ones right away (6/20) and they've also been pushed back. Guessing neither of those colors shipped any units yet and that Nike must still be dealing with supply chain issues.

Gant/Tommy Hilfiger called, they want their photos back...
Must buy for Greg Marmalard.
What’s the deal with Nike’s ‘Ivy League’, ‘Sk8er Boi’ and ‘Street’ devolutions?

How do these compare to the Vapor Tour 9/9.5s? I disliked the Vapor X. The Prestige was too narrow for my foot.

Any other shoes closer to the Vapor Tour 9/9.5s?
