Hi ichaseballs

Can you do the same Vcore98 > EZ98 > EZT but also add in the DR98. thanks

Reason is I am looking to upgrade from the DR98 and maybe try something new with the VC98.21.
I am 4 rated aggressive all around court (net finisher) but looking for something a little more plush now.
Setup was DR98 w/ Hyper-G and as needed something softer am currently DR98 w/ multi Triax

the DR98 is in between the EZ98 and the EZT. (by weight it would be 305, 310, 315g)
DR98 is not far off from the EZT in terms of being a good replacement.

So the 95 sounds really tempting but would it be fair to say that one should be a NNTP 4.5+ playing 3 days a week to hit with the 95?
No, as long as you have a full swing with decent form. It is very user friendly. It is hard to mishit balls and the sweetspot is pretty big. In stock form I don't see how a 4.5+ could even play with it. It needs a good amount of lead, tw's specs are not close to right.

I'm not sure you have to be 4.5+ to play with the 95, but you would probably need to have good strokes to take advantage of this frame. I myself prefer the 98(I play on USTA 4.0) as it's a little more forgiving but I can see myself picking up a used 95 for trying it out some of the days.

I often read that the VCore 100 (2021) would be comparable to the Babolat Pure Drive....

I wonder now if, the old VCore 100 (2018) goes more towards PA19 with more control?
I am looking for a replacement for a PA19 with more control, but still a lot of spin (the PAVS did not work, because too little spin and too low launch angle).

After a brief demo, I just purchased two VCore 98s. I requested the matching service and my two rackets have the following specs with plastic on the handle #1: 305.3 gm, 315mm balance, 292 SW and #2: 305.4 gm, 315mm balance, 293 SW. After removing the plastic and cardboard both weighed 302 gm. A little below spec on weight but swing weight should land around 320+ strung. Now I have to find the right string setup. I bought a set of Poly Tour Spin to try and strung the other with T-1 Black Knight.

If you’re looking for more control, coming from a PA, I’d look at the Ezone 100. Ime, that frame is closer to the PA than the VCore 100, which for me feels like a more spin friendly Pure Drive (2018 version).

I've been looking to purchase or trade for a VCore98, it's amazing how few of these that people are parting with- must mean its a keeper racket rather than one that people try and then deal around.

It's a crazy good best seller, chatted with a few shop managers. It's also the popping up all over the place and almost as equal to the Ezone 98 "in the wild" so to speak, even played a doubles match the other day where 2 opponents had the 98.

I still say the 95 is better though :).

Anyone use the ezone 98+ and the vcore 98+ I'm trying to decide between these 2. Demoed the vcore 98+ and liked the new head shape. Which is better for serve and volley doubles racket?

I guess it all depends on what you prefer. I bought the Ezone 98+ when it first came out. I had been using the 2018 VCORE 98+ for a little over a year at that point, but was curious. I thought I’d get a little more spin & free power, but it just felt clunky to me. My serve suffered the most as I felt my RHS decreased.

I switched to the 2021 VCORE 98+ back in April and am really liking it. Serve has definitely improved, and I’ve not lost anything on my returns.

As far as at the net, I serve and volley off both serves in doubles. I’m not an exceptional volleyer, it’s just they way I learned doubles 35+ years ago. I’ve had no issues volleying with this vs the 2018. If anything, it may be a bit more nimble at the net.

But again, it all depends on your game/preference.

Is the shape on the 2021 vcore 98+ more round than the new 2021 Ezone 98+ or they are the same I kind of like the new head shape and mostly the string density is different? Is the ezone 8 mains on the throat and the vcore 6 mains on the throat?

I believe the 2021 VCORE 98 head shape is more round than the Ezone 98. It’s 6 mains in the throat (something I’ve had to get used to), and they seem to have raised the pattern a bit compared to the 2018 VCORE. If you back up a page or two, I believe I posted side-by-side pics of the 2018 and 2021.

I use the 2021 vcore 98 as my main and it's a beastly racket once you get it to 12 oz.

I have 6 grams at 3/9, 4 grams at the throat, 2 grams 7 inches from the buttcap. I think I have a total of 10 grams total from the throat/7 inches but cant remember. Weights in at exactly 345 grams for my pair.

This setup swings easily and gives you maximum power and control. I used to play with a 2014 prostaff 90 and it kinda reminds me of that scalpel like feeling except way better power and forgiveness.

Precious racket was ezone tour and dumped it for the 2021 vcore 98 grams because it was better in all aspects especially if you have whipper strokes. Ezone head balance sucks and was not maneuverable.

I've been comparing it to the 2016 babolat pure aero vs tour and it kinda plays similar to that the babolat is 351 grams but higher launch angle and more power.

I prefer the Vcore 98 over the babolat because the ohbh feels much cleaner and less clunky. 2hbh feels great on babolat and I don't need power.

I used to have the 2018 VCORE 95 and the 98 plays similar to that. The 16/19 98 is more forgiving than the 2018 95.

Once you get the VCORE 98 to 345 grams it's a different world and still swings easier than the ezone tour 98.

Feel is subjective and I think it's fine it has that newer crisp feel. Ofc I like the feel of old school mid rackets but new rackets don't play like that anymore.

6 grams at 10/2 because I hit higher in stringbed 3/9 is useless because it already has plenty of power and big sweet spot.

The 4-5 grams at throat is really what wakes up the racket and makes it stable against heavy hitters. The 5 grams also makes serving bombs much easier. 2 grams at 7 inches from buttcap to offset balance.

Agree with you that bringing up the weight of the racquet feels much nicer. I am still tinkering to find my liking but my setup below...
I have my two 98's weighted differently trying to find my goldilocks zone
#1: 5g at 3/9 and 7.5g at 12, ALU Power 1.25, Overgrip at 5g, dampner at 3g
#2: 2.5g at 3/9 and 5g at 12, Poly Tour Rev 1.25, Overgrip at 5g, dampner at 3g
racquets weight in at #1 at 346g & #2 at 342g

I may play around adding a little in the handle area to see if with a different balance I like better or not but I am leaning towards racquet #1 for the moment but need a few more match plays with it to finalize.

So far I only see people playing with ohbh with the vcore, am I the only one who likes this racquet and plays with a 2hbh?

Dw bro I have a ohbh but when I get jammed hard i'll randomly do a 2 hander or 2 handed volley for extra leverage. Racket feels good with all styles the sweet spot is huge

I have a decent 2HBH(at least I would like to think so :p) and play with the Vcore98 and also the 95.

Does someone know if there will soon be an alternative PJ to the VC line such as the Galaxy Black or else ?
If not, do you remember how long passed between the release of the old flame Vcore 98 and the Galaxy black one ?
Thx

I haven't heard anything from the Yonex about any plans for a black version so that means *IF* there'll be any plans in the future it means not at least for months.

As best I can tell from this topic:

The red 2018 VCORE arrived in late August, 2018. The Galaxy Black arrived early February 2019.

So...if they were going to do an alternate PJ, it would be released fairly soon. Alas, even if they do, I'm certain they won't release it in the '+' line of frames...

I don't understand why they won't make any smaller head sizes. A lot of the people who care about racquet quality also like smaller head sizes. I'd love a 90 or 93 head Yonex.

I agree with you, however, judging by the fact that Head is not making a Prestige Mid available for the next iteration (when they did with the G360+), might indicate that sales of the Mid did not go as well as the other options in the line and they are therefore not going to offer it.

I love Mids, I have collected many of them, and I might just have to go to that well when I'm thirsty, new Mids by manufacturers may become rarer and rarer occurrences (unfortunately).

Holding my Graphene Touch Mid up against my VCore HD, the Mid has slightly longer mains, and really differs in head size only at 10 and 2 where it lacks the corners that the HD has. I'm getting more free power from the Mid, easily.

I understand. I love playing with my Mids. I pull them out regularly. Joy to play with. I'm trying to keep them in good condition so they last me as long as possible.

Yonex making smaller headsize... Here in France, we wish that, a least, they could make smaller grip first ! And for 300gr racquets and more, there is simply no Grip 1 (here)... Why Mr Yonex ? For Junior, women and smaller hands should play with 100 / 285g ? So... You see... Thinking about yonex smaller headsize is, for some people, simply vain !

Probably gonna buy this racket (Vcore 98 305G). I've heard great things about it.

I'm a baseline groundstroke player and hit with tons of top spin.
I'm considering this or Pure Aero, but I think this one is better overall.

What are your thoughts ?

I think this would be easier on your arm, you will still get lots of spin and a bit more accuracy as well.

I've been using the 98 + since it's release this spring. While I absolutely love this frame, understand that it is not for everyone. The feel is quite muted, and if you liked the Pure Aero, you may not like the feel of the 98.

One of my doubles partners uses the Pure Aero + (2015 version), and has been looking to switch for a while. He's tried mine, as well as the new VCORE 100+, and just cannot get used to the feel.

Conversely, another guy I hit with regularly changed frames like many change underwear. Then he tried the VCORE 98, bought two the next week, and surprisingly hasn't gone away since.

So...I'd recommend demoing first if you can. The frame generates tons of spin, and isn't a rocket launcher, but still allows you to generate good pace. I play mostly aggressive baseline in singles, and serve & volley in doubles, and find it's a well rounded frame.

I didnot play with Pure Aero. I Played with aeropro drive 2013. Now I'm playing with PS97 (315G) but I think it does not fit my game 100%. I demoed the vcore 98 2020 version and I liked it a lot. That's why this should be a great racket, even though they say it's more muted
