Not Rublev, it's Fucsovics to face Djokovic after epic R16 win over the Russian.

First ever Serbian-Hungarian Wimbledon quarterfinal to come.

Fucsovics won’t just give Novak points the way it seems Rublev did today. I could see this one being a little tough and him sneaking a TB.

Still though this is about as easy of a draw as Djokovic has ever had at a major, and that’s saying something given that he’s 34. NID.

Djokovic in STRAIGHTS. This is WImb QF. Marton has never been there plus played a 5 set match. Novak is too good right now. Dream draw for the world #1.

This one troubles me. Fucsovics is a good player and very consistent. He has good power when needed. Consistent baseliners tend to trouble Novak. None of their previous matches have been straightforward. Today's match vs Rublev was only 2 hours 41 minutes. We'll see how well Novak is playing after this one. I haven't been impressed with him the last two rounds. Lots of missed opps vs Garin, who just rolled over.

Recovery may be a big factor since Djokovic cruised in straights and Fucsovics had a five-setter. But Marton's got nothing to lose. Lets hope he throws everything he has at it.

I agree I don’t think it will be as easier as some people think either. It might also not be a bad thing if Novak gets a test. Novak I feel can get this one in 4 sets but I think will be tougher than today.

Djoko will need to raise his game but I’m sure he will. The man knows how to save energy and peak at the right moments.

Finally, we agree. The people underrating Fucsovics are casual fans.
Yeah he has a good game. He hit solid off both wings and has a good serve. He’s just not great mentally under pressure which lets him down in big games.

I expect Djoko to raise it in the quarters though but marton will be tougher than Garin today.

So Muglev loses now too? Yeesh. May be the easiest slam win for Djoker ever
It actually got harder with The Thin Man gone. This was very virgin territory for Rubylev (2R best before this year). He wouldn’t trouble the 2x defending champion in his first ever h2h. No variation, little to no touch, mediocre volleys. Straight sets if it had happened. Garin level 8 games. Fucs has won sets vs ND both times they played.

A guy who is near 30 and made his first GS QF. Played 5 sets in the previous round. How will he be tough?
Fucs style trouble Novak, I don't know whether you have seen their Doha match. It was a slug fest and Novak was tired after first two set
Fucs hit big and can tire Novak for next round if not beat him.
Only saving grace is, it is on grass so Novak may use his grass experience

Fucs is not easy for Novak, I would have preferred Rublev, I know I joked about Rublev being favorite but Rublev with weak serve would have been easy.
Case in point see his both matches with Fucs

Novak will win in STRAIGHTS. Fucsovics is PATHETIC on grass. This is NOT a hard court. And the first slam QF he will choke.

Fucs was absolutely zoning for a while in the 5th. He will have to play like that for 3 hours to make it close.

Djokovic in 3 , 4 if Fucsovics gets inspired.

This to me is another case of a solid player that can't hurt Djokovic. Simply put, Djokovic has the better serve, return, forehand, backhand, movement, and experience. Fucsovics might have better volleys and overheads though let's be real that won't help him enough. Djokovic in 3 unless he has a slump like today and Fucsovics doesn't miss his opportunity to take a set. Either way, comfortable win for Novak. Fucsovics to be consoled post-match by goulash and lángos

I've always thought Fucsovics is one of the most underrated players on tour, he's very good at his best and can play at a top 10 level.

Impressive run so far from him, demolished 3 seeds, Rublev, Schwartzman and Sinner. Djokovic will need to raise his level to beat him.
All in agreement except last sentence. ND could go to autopilot and he would still win a close one. If he does turn it up it will be straight sets but zero bakery products. One of those one TB and two 1-break sets (6, 4 and 4).

On the highlight of the Rublev-Fucsovics match, the studio host called Fucsovics "Robocop" which I thought was a perfect description of his physicality/demeanor. It's probably been said before, but this was my first time hearing it and it made me laugh.

If Novak doesn't play better than he has in last 2 rounds then he will be in for a really tough match.

Fucsovics is no mug and he has the game to give Novak a hard match. I just hope that Novak gets up for this match like he did the Kevin Anderson one otherwise it will be a slug fest

Don't underestimate Fucsovics, he will he hungary for the win. He's just got to make sure to keep calm and not (gou)lash out when things aren't going his way.
Here is the theme song for the hungary Magyar before encountering the lupine predator:

Djokovic in 3 or 4. wouldn't pencil in a straight set win given how their previous 2 matches have gone.

Just re-watched some of the highlights from their last 2 matches and some of the rallies were brutal.

Fucsovics had Novak in real trouble at 2018 US Open when he was both 3-1 and 4-2 up in 3rd set when match was at 1 set all. He was so close to the double break in that 3rd set.

I think this is a dangerous match for Novak and he has to come out like he did in his match with Kevin where he was on top of his game right from the start.
