Whose shoes would you like to be in right now ???

Roger Federer with a Billion $, most celebrated tennis player for close to 2 decades, most fans on the planet...... but now all his records are breaking and he will be surpassed on stats, so that is a price to pay for enjoying the royal treatment ....

Novak Djokovic ..... had it tough for 15 years with crowd against him but finally now the rewards will be worth it ...... he will have all the records ......might not be a billionaire but still has 400-500M dollars .... life is good.

Nadal ..... doesn't have any record except 13 French opens but that is the 1 record worth having ......Enjoyed good enough crowd support throughout his life ...... personal assets of 400-500M dollars .....life is good.

Or Someone like Sampras/Borg/Mcenroe/Agassi/Becker/Lendl/Connors.... not in GOAT Race anymore but chilling out with family without unnecessary media spotlight..... life is sufficiently comfortable and good

Let's see having to raise twins let alone two sets of twins... And being 40 with basically none of your physical prime left... I'm not picking Federer.

Unless you feel like doing intense stretching for an hour per day, every day the rest of your life, and eating celery and juice to top it off, I wouldn't pick Djokovic. Too intense.

Nadal has a cool boat but probably hurts every single day getting out of bed. I don't want to be any of them.

Between the big 3 I would prefer Nadal's lifestyle.

French Open record is a cool record to have and life has been good with no regrets, for a clay courter to achiever so much is a bonus.

Federer enjoyed a lot for 18 years but now records r going down, thats is weird and leaves a sour taste .... it is as if you won for 18 years and finally lost.
Djokovic will have all the records but the crowd against you for 15 years, booing and sometimes interrupting you, that is an unpleasant feeling, spoils the experience/journey though you have won in the end.

Nadal is in a better position than the other 2 ;)

If Djoker wins the calendar slam then it's him.

And doing this so late in his career! That's what really makes it amazing since the competition is there! Fedalovic have had to overcome a few waves of NG'rs with all kinds of ability! Novak's proved it's about what's "upstairs" as he set records I think are unattainable even if a great player comes along with little serious competition! :sneaky:

Well according to you, both Djokovic and Nadal have 400-500 times more money than Fed.

Every record will break except Nadal's 13 French Opens.

So it doesn't matter.

Federer enjoyed the long journey but lost in the end, Djokovic did not enjoy the journey but won in the end, however none of their records are unbreakable.

Only Nadal has the unbreakable record

Yes, Nadal has the most unbreakable record in tennis, maybe in all sports? 13 FO is ridiculous and can't be matched. You can't even say he was lucky or got tested. All 13 finals were in 3 or 4 sets, never pushed to 5 sets.

Federer looks anxious and confused last couple years as it dawns on him he'll be heading into retirement while there are 2 active players with more slams than him. He probably always envisaged nice exit interviews asking him how it feels to be goat etc - not going to happen now.

Out of the 3 Fed is the loser. Nadal is still a chance to finish overall slam goat to go alongside FO goat (can win 1 more FO and either USO or AO?). Djokovic will trump them all if he completes calendar slam. How do you top that?

So as it stands I see Nadal as the clubhouse leader, Fed has just hit 3 tee shots into the water and about to miss the cut, Djoker heading into final 2 holes with 1 stroke lead over Rafa.

Just a few off the top of my head:

Of the 14 elite titles, Nole's won each at least twice ove rhis career
Set record pts in 2015 being in every event final played (13) winning 10
Winning AO 3 yrs in a row (twice)
... and a host of others many players probably won't even bother trying to achieve

- - I think it was Fedal who pushed Djokovic to these heights! He's the Ivan Lendl of his time except Wimbledon has been attainable! If "seniors" continue to hang in there and perform well, the next wave of NG'rs will be stifled just as the last few have been! I'm a firm believer, normally windows of greatness are brief! Fedalovic have proved it can be extended! Of these players "lying in wait," who do we think have the ability or mental toughness to come close to even Sampras' numbers? Thiem had a chance, but's breaking down as we post! Sascha hasn't been able to finish while his serve comes and goes! Medvedev's the most tempermental of the lot who can be so good at times, then look totally disinterested the next day! If I have to put money down, Med's the complete package at this time! I've seen him dismiss Djokovic; just blow him off the court with his serve and forehand! Anybody else?

IMO, Federer had to see this coming years ago, but his ego wouldn't allow him to act upon it! I'm one of those people who thought he probably would/should've retired if/when he had taken OG in 2012! I just didn't think it worthwhile hanging on these last 8-9 years to only acquire 3 Majors when the masses could've asked "what if?" as with Borg! Now he'll allow 2 players to jet past him in the major count while still active! Pete got 8+ years of adulation and being thought "The GOAT!" It's already past tense when it comes to Roger!

Nadal has no chance either, he can maybe take 1 more slam and end up with more slams than Fed but the GOAT of stats (and since we are in the era of stats) is Djokovic because he will end up with most slams, it is a forgone conclusion, he was slowed down by loss of 2 slams to conrona and DQ, then in his peak murray and wawrinka stole 3 slams each, but Djokovic eventually reached this far because he cannot be stopped, so record is his ....... Nadal has 0 chance..... he will be lucky to win a 14th french open, thats it..... no other slam he can ever win and even french he can win only 1, he is really old, 36 years old next year for a guy whose physical body is like 38+ .... 1 more it is.... or maybe 0.

But French is a powerful record to have.... so that is a consolation.

Better than Lendl, Djokoic is a taller upgrade of Agassi ..... had Andre been 6'2 then one would have expected him to be like Djokovic.

Only Sascha has the game to rule tennis but he will have to work on his serve bigtime and he will have to hire a good coach (Boris Becker is a nice candidate).

Medvedev is too boring and I find him awkward, he is good on hared courts but not all that good off it...

Good post, though not sure I agree he should have retired in 2012? No way could anyone have seriously anticipated Djoker could just win slams at will like this, or to top it off with calendar slam at age 34. Sure there was some chance, but really it would be reasonable to think it wouldn’t happen. Any way it’s Fed’s worst nightmare coming true before his eyes and he can’t stop it. As great a career as he’s had its going to be very bittersweet. The 2019 Wimbledon loss he will never get over. He just served 2 aces in a row to get to 40-15 double mp, and very nearly served another ace to finish the match in style. It just missed, and the rest is history.

Yes it seems likely Djoker will have the record, but there is a chance he won’t win any more Slams too. It’s not inconceivable he loses at USO due to huge pressure, maybe an injury too. I agree Rafa is looking old and slow, but he’s regrouping for a final assault. He may find his best form at USO with nothing to lose compared to a Djoker. He’s already beaten Djoker in 2 USO finals. Nadal could be 1st guy to 21 slams. Djoker may also lose narrowly at AO, still depressed at missing once in a lifetime chance to win calendar Slam. Suddenly Rafa could have 22 slams, 2 more than Fed and Djoker, and FO coming up. Djoker will be turning 35 then.

Interesting times - things can change very quickly in this game.

Huge pressure ? For Novak ?
Not winning slams anymore ?

haha

Please see the stats posted in this post

Novak is the most dominant player against youngsters in the open era, those numbers tell you the future.

Maybe someone like Zverev. Enough money and big endorsements and doesn't matter if I lose as well. Come to practice late.

Novak has a great family, his dad has been so supportive of him and made him what he is today. There is nothing wrong with his family, for the outside world (us) his dad looks crazy or his mom looks like a super biatch but in their house they love him and they raised him to be a good and successful world beater. Plus his wife also seems supportive to him (just like Mirka is to Federer).
