Zed is peaking with his serve and it's a BO3 match.

The winner of first set takes the match imo. The firs set is crucial here.

Discuss.

The Real final no doubt about it. I feel this might go 3 sets. I feel a match for Djokovic is gonna get complicated somewhere on his dream for gold and this could be it. It just likely to happen with the pressure and Zverev is capable of making things uncomfortable with big serve and powerful groundies

Zverev is a very good best of 3 player too. He’s looked sharp. However, djoko has looked mighty impressive and very locked in. His game in great order and his physical condition looks fabulous. Djoko had the edge in big matches and H2H but I think this will be a nervy affair. I hope and think Djokovic digs it out in 3 sets. An upset is possible though and don’t see how the winner of this match doesn’t get gold.

May the best man win.

This match for me is more pressure for Djokovic than the final. As it’s a round he’s never won or got past at the Olympics. If he beats Zverev I think his confidence will be even higher and he’ll make no mistake in final. Especially that the final opponent in my opinion will be easier than Zverev too.

Djoko this year has broke many curses and this is another one he trying to overcome. It won’t be easy as Zverev is playing good, likes the best of 3 format and the conditions.

Should be a fun match. Novak will be nervous.
Just saw his demolition job over Nishikori, may be not that close a match lol

Djokovic is continuing on his quest to rack up pretty much the perfect season. Difficult to see anyone stopping him here, but obviously cannot afford to let his guard down against Zverev

Best of 3 I would never trust Zverev to stand a chance against Djokovic, but best of 2 is usually where Zverev can play his best and unleash the Zedzilla/genetic freak/servebot/offensive game mode.
It could be a good match ( it could not too though)
About Djokovic I have to say I was really impressed by his baseline game vs Nishikori, amazing consistency and some scary rallies and shots

Can see this being a match where Street leads by a break in both sets before Djoker clutches it out lol. Could also be a routine affair though.

Winner of this one will most probably end up with the gold.

Best of 2? Who wins if it's 1:1?

All those claiming “this is gonna be such a close match, impossible to call!” will wake up to a 6-3, 6-2 Djoker win. Zverev has 1% chance, if that.

Question for me is do I want to yolo and put my $25 free bet on Zverev, or go slightly safer with Vondrousova in the women's. Hmmmm

Zed looks to be in one of those serving zones again from what I saw in the stats. Think he was 80% first serve percentage against Basilashvili. Handled Chardy pretty easily too. Not that either guy compares to Djoko, and I'd expect him to probably miss more first serves against Novak. But if he can keep up those serve numbers? Probably worth a shot. Game spread odds seem way too generous too.

Just like with Federer 15 years ago, tennis becomes uninteresting when competition is too weak. But this is a new level of void.

Novak in straights.

How is it safer to bet on a womens match? WTA is a complete lottery lol.

Genuinely would rather bet on a coin flip than betting on WTA
Someone made a post in GPPD which showed that every slam for the last 2-3 years has had completely different players in the quarter finals. No consistency from anyone. Quality is much worse. And they get paid the same for less work (athough that's a separate discussion entirely).

Anyway who cares, I watch mens game 99% of the time. :p

Novak is in a zone. His ROS will neutralize any advantage Zverev has serving, and then it just becomes a baseline battle. Zverev can't hang with Novak right now. The courts aren't that fast. Ultron 7-5, 6-3.

Zodjoker will have a strange, complimentary choking fakery dynamic. Djoker will be choking and Zod goating early, with both trying to set the other up for the same plot-twist conclusion: Djoker wanting Zod to believe he can win before the epic Djoker comeback and Zod wanting Djoker to believe he can actually lose before an epic Zod choke.

Hopefully it’ll be a fine vintage, free of Belgrade Actor nonsense like MTOs and imaginjuries with a classic scoreline like 7-6 5-7 1-6.

I wonder if novak wins the gold how many tournaments he will play afterwards. Frankly he shouldn’t play any and get ready for the us open. Conserve that energy.

You'll probably know in the first 20 mins or so. If Zverev wins, it will be in straight sets. He ain't winning in 3. I'll say Djokovic 6-2, 5-7, 6-3

I have a feeling Zverev puts himself in there tonight. Will not be watching as the time is unfriendly for my EST constraints. However, will not at all be shocked if Zverev wins this somehow with a dominant serving performance. Djokovic has to let down at some point, right? Right?

Novak looked slow yesterday against Nishikori, mixed doubles are tiring him to much. Zverev will have a chance if Novak energy is depleted.

Last five matches between them, Zverev has never won a single match. Djokovic has figured it out Zverev games. Let's see.

What Novak is doing right now is a joke really. No one's ever played tennis like this ever - he is just unbeatable. He deserves the golden slam.

Novak's exact level is still unknown. He has had an incredibly weak draw: Hugo, Nishikuri (choker), Fokina...
Zverev is first worthy opponent.

That's only because Zverev chokes his serve away under pressure. Like literally the other day in his previous match. He was serving for the match and up until that point he had lost just 2 points on serve and then got broken. I really wish Zverev could get a hang of his nerves and focus against players like Djokovic because his game is more than equal, especially his serve.

Also slightly off-topic. Can anyone tell me what UK services the match will be shown on? I've managed to catch highlights but up until now there hasn't been a full match i wanted to watch.

Djokovic to not lose a game here on till winning gold in both the competitions.

On a serious note haven't seen Z this week but it shouldn't matter, Djokovic will straight set him.
