It has little to do with clutch when most of the time his opponent in the final is better than him. The only losses in big finals that he should have won were against Zverev and Tsitsipas, and the last one is very debatable.
He can't be called clutch with only a masters and a vultured slam at 28.

People talk as if the match is over when Zverev is still making inroads in all of Djokovic’s service games.

It's never over in a Bo3 but that really means nothing. Especially when he's missing shots like the 0-15 one.

I guess I'm just not seeing this 'great' Zverev I'm reading about in this thread.

This has nothing to do witch clutch. His best surface by far is the same as the most dominant player ever on a court type. That is the reason for his lack of big titles.
Sure, but Nadal wasn't unbeatable, Thiem was just not good enough. His 2017 and 2018 performances were a disgrace.

What about his other missed opportunities that weren't against the most dominant player on a surface?

It's amazing how a next gen has one or two competitive games and we have egg fans saying unironically that Djokovic will be lucky to win

The only thing I'd be nervous about is the Bo3 format being conducive to upsets but I'm not seeing anything indicating much reason to worry.

Cheap misses by the Giraffe on every half big point.

It's not AO now. It's a different tournament. Why are you talking back when you very well know the advantage for a big server when he is a break up.
Because I remember the AO where it didn't matter thst Zverev was a break up. In 3 different sets too.

You can say that all you want, but the amount of sets losts by Nadal at the French in those years is much more telling.
Clutch is mostly relevant when players are of the same caliber or evenly matched. This is not the case.

He doesn't want to run. He is petrified by that particular aspect. That's why he is throwing errors at the first opportunity.

That's an isolated occurance. Still doesn't change that being a break up is a great advantage and gives you control of the set.

Nadal didn't have anyone to push him physically. He finally did this year and surprise, surprise, he lost.

As soon as I saw Zverev S&V on that break point I knew it won't be good. Novak will take it

Surprise, an ATG and worst Nadal matchup on tour was needed for that. That with an older Nadal who was already showing signs of struggle in the clay season.

Flatout has not been good enough all year.

Hasn't been good enough ever. Tim was begging him to win the USO.

This Nadal would have stormed to the RG title like in previous years.

The fact that a 34 year old Djokovic outlasted him physically doesn't say good things about Thiem.
