Pro's Pro Strings!?

Could be the same problem as mine? Does it breaks right on the crosses knot?

Unfortunately no, on multiple occasions the PP Claycourt plus snapped on the center string, I even had a freshly strung hybrid that broke after just a volley near the upper part of the hoop but still on center. This is strung at 56/54 hybrid with Red Devil cross. I will experiment in lowering the tension when I can.

when you use shaped poly at crosses i dont see any benefit of that. why dont you use smooth poly?+
lol - don't know, thought the green PP SG and the green Eruption goes well with the green side of the Gravity Pro.... as that is the only green co-poly i have
in any case, the RD cross also works well with the pink BAB SG mains for another Gravity Pro, to match the red side..
you know, image is everything... :cautious:

Tried today Pros pro syn gut 130 main and red devil 1.24 crosses. 52/47 lbs ( next time will be 55/51 ), and … really good feel, super arm friendly, spin was great too, and at the net it’s just better !
I can understand Federer , Djokovic etc, who play with a nat gut main ( even if pros pro is not a nat gut lol !), i play 5 times a week always in fb poly, and that feel is great. It reminds me when I was a kid in the 80/90s using nylon string , but with a copoly string in cross, feel even better.
Good for 3 hours max !

What are people's opinions on Red Devil? It is soft or stiff? Does anybody have any numbers on it?
I had it strung full-bed. It stretched a lot during stringing -- I thought "A soft string...". But when I went to play with it -- there was nothing soft about it. It was not stretchy at all. In fact, it felt on the stiff side. So, I am confused -- if I should treat it as a stiff or a soft string.
If it is stiff, it would not be so great as a cross ( which were my hopes for it ). It also showed a surprising amount of spin in full bed ( also a typical property of stiff strings ). I had it strung at 49 lbs ( which is my typical tension; I string most racquets at 49 ).

I consider Red Devil to be rather soft! Not having a number for it but playing with it in 1.14, 1,19 and 1,24. Not sure what string you use "normally" to compare the feel...

In my point of view, the Stiffness number of the Red Devil would be close to the 190
Concept around 200-205 and Blackout 210.
Could you attach the gauges to the stiffnes ratings according to you because clearly the 1.14 rd would be softer than the 1.29 version.
I myself have playes with black force 1.19 mainly as a cross for other polys. I think somehow it give exra power to those hybrids and just a little softening.
I too consider Red Devil a "soft" string. It's a little underpowered though.
What would be a more powerfull poly from Pros pro with very good durability/playability?

I'm currently playing with Black Force and it has more power than Red Devil. I like Black Force more than Red Devil.

Red devil 1.24
Blackout 1.24
Concept 1.22

RD is soft if you compare to Hyper G for example, but stiff in comparison of Head Velocity.
Not recommended in full bed if you have tennis/golfer elbow.

You know ahead Velocity is multi and RD is co-poly right? So if all things equal, the Velocity should be “softer” than RD.
depends on the tension (and maybe gauge), the RD should be soft enough as a fullbed setup.
I use 1.19 RD fullbed at high 30’s without any issues.

I didn't found Red Devil, Blackout and Concept powerfull...
Plus Power 1.28 has the most power of all those and has very good durability and playability too.
Many friends of mine love it too. The following days I'm going to try it at 1.23 gauge...

OK, would you think that 1.28 Plus power is also more durable than 1.28 concept? How much tension do you string it?

No, durability is similar to Concept 1.28. But playability is better. You get more feel and more spin from Plus Power imho.

How much tension do you string it?
On a 16x19 100 sqi racket 24 kg / 53 lbs mains and 23 kg / 51 lbs crosses is a nice option to start with.
I've also strung it little higher (and I get less power and less feel) and little lower (and I get more power and more feel).

If someone could be helped by that info, those below are the weights of a full Pro's Pro's strings reels.
Just the net weight of the strings, without the plastic reel. The strings are not measured. We suppose that they are 200m, usually few meters longer...

S.GUT 1.35 WHITE = 382 g
INTENSE HEAT 1.30 SILVER = 382 g
PLUS POWER 1.28 = 364 g
BLACK FORCE 1.24 = 339 g
PLUS POWER 1.23 = 337 g
BLACK OUT 1.24 = 334 g
RED DEVIL 1.19 = 325 g
ERUPTION 1.18 = 322 g

The two types of Pro's Pro's plastic reels are:
- One light with "many tight dots" in a small circle. That's net weight (with two stickers) is 72 g.
- One heavier with not so many "cloud style dots" in a large circle. That's net weight (with one sticker) is 126 g.
String type stickers weight around 1-1,5 g each.

You can use that measurements above if you want to split some string reels easily by the weigh, or to count the weight which each string model is going to add on your racket!

How do you find the Intense Heat string? My experience was that is was stiffer than other polys from Pros pro and I had to string it at a lower tension. I usually string poly around 55lbs but found I had to string the intense heat at around 48lbs to feel similar otherwise it felt very board like. I like the intense heat overall though.

I have not try the IH 1.30 yet. I'd try the Intense Heat 1.25 long time ago.
It was an ok string as I can remember which doesn't feel stiff at the time. It was the first PP string I'd try.
When I put on the 1.30 I will be back with an opinion. Now I have test many PP string and I can compare them better.

Have you had a chance to try the S.Gut 1.35 ? where do you use it mains or cross. Thanks

What you propose won't work. It will depend on how much string is installed on the frame to determine how much the weight of the string is. Most people just weigh the racquet with and without strings. The difference is obviously the mass of the string. For splitting reels, I suggest/propose that measuring 40' sections is easier than by weight. Using mass/weight as a divider means you could give packets of less than 40' or more than 40' to a person.

Not yet... I'm thinking to stung it fullbed at first. In a hybrid I prefer the S.Gut on the mains (as you can read few posts above) because snapping back easily than the opposite.
Maybe Red Devil 1.19 it's a nice option for the crosses. I will see... At the moment under 40+ Celsius degrees I'm not thinking to strung a racket or even play tennis at all...

Ohh my friend you misunderstand this... I didn't split the reel to 40' sets. I agree that you can't be even close when you have to weight each set separately.
I split the whole reel in two halves, 100m each. In that case missing a meter or two it's not a big deal.
It was very easy that way. I have to split 7-8 whole reels. Even with that weight-thing, it took me hours...

OK. If you only plan to roughly split a reel in half, I would use a large cylinder at least 6" in diameter. 2*pi*r is the circumference or ~1.57'. Mark cylinder and start rolling. Go around 191 times + 1 foot. You can also buy a string length measurement device like for fishing line.

Why all that? An empty reel and a kitchen weight scale (simple things which everybody has) did the job fine...

i dont understand that splitting of reels in the first place. Considering you might end wtith a few meters at each reel when you are finishing stringing. so if it was one reel you could use the meters together for a half string job, if you know what i mean.. Furthermore to rewind all those strings again on a a seperate rol would take a lot of effort for what purpose?

It's ok as a cross string. Seems to lose tension very quickly in an open string pattern. Probably be fine in a small hoop or high density 18x19/20 pattern.
interesting. this gauge not for sale in my country. 1.30 intense heat does lose tension rather quickly so no doubt 1.20 does too. However how is spinpotential compared to thicker gauges?

Is it normal that Pro's Pro multifilament strings last one or two hitting sessions?

I put hexaforce on a frame, but after one hour of tennis, the string is already dead. I am not a great player, i generate a low amount of top spin and i never break strings because i am weak as a Karen, but still i am surprised by the low durability. Is it normal it only lasts max 2 hours?

that depends ofcourse on the racquet you string it with and the weather and if you are playing on a claycourt maybe. I never play multi anymore since i tried HDX which feels like chewing gum in a racquet. so no spin potential what so ever Furthermore i understand that Wilson sensation has low durability too. If you need more durability use a sgut from Pros Pro. It will be even cheaper too.

What is HDX?

My main frames are old pro staff 95 blx.

But i also tried the multi on pro staff 90s and on a prince POG, similar results. I don't expect multi to last like poly, but i also didn't expect 2h and that's it

HDX is a known from another brand tan RPro Pros. There are lot reasons why a string breaks. in old racquets this could be because of damagaed grommets or you damaged the strings during stringing by clamping to tight?

No sorry, maybe i didn't explain it well.
They do not break after two hours. They just go dead. They lose all the good properties that they start with, like being soft on the arm.
They just become stiff and the sound even changes

Yup, that's Pro's Pro. Most of the Poly I've tried goes dead within 2-4 hours, but the reels are super cheap. I personally don't think any of their polyesters have amazing feel (or sound at impact), but I can get some really good results for a couple hours out of a few of them, namely Blackout strung <50lb. Their Multi's seem to have closer feel to their Name Brand counterparts, like HexMulti, which plays just like the Dunlop HexyFibre...The biggest difference I've noticed in PP strings is that they lack the special coatings that the bigger brands use, therefore reducing snapback, durability, and perhaps feel. I also went through several sets of the Orange Hexaspin, which played and felt a lot like signum Pro Poly Plasma Hextreme, for about 2 hours, then turned into a rocket launcher and started feeling stiff, like it lost all its pocketing properties! Again, I noticed that the ProPro Hex Poly looked and strung up just like a copy of Signum Hextreme.....however it was lacking the slickness, which I am assuming is a coating or proprietary additive, which also caused the string to lockup and get stuck out of place probably around an hour. Pro's Pro reels are so cheap though, that if you string yourself, it's fun to save some money and test out a couple reels, or have it on hand for anyone that just wants a cheap polyester string. I miss access to Pro Supex here in the States, because IMHO they make great budget strings, but they weren't Pro's Pro level cheap, and now the market if oversaturated with strings in the mid-range price point from bugger brands that overshadowed the Pro Supex Strings. Pro Supex Maxim Touch was a fantastic multifilament string that I switched many of my Wilson NXT customers over to and it was less than $10/set. Pro Supex Blue Gear was a lot like the Diadem strings, many years before Diadem "invented" the Star Core technology. Pro Supex was ahead of their time, if you are overseas, I recommend to test Pro Supex along with Pro's Pro.

For a durable poly in a normal stringpatterned racquet i recommend Pros pro concept 1.28 or 1.32.

I once broke hitec in 40min although usually it lasts me between 1-2h. This with a round poly cross (often PP concept), otherwise it notches and frays too quickly ending up breaking faster.

I quite like the string nonetheless because it’s soft and muted but not overly powerful.
