He was the bad guy in my childhood, but as i grew wiser, i started to accept that he is a better player than roger, and has more admirable personal qualities. So, appreciaton for djokovic is a symbol of my personal growth.

And, as i became a better player, i started to see how difficult djokovic's game, and how effortless he makes it look.

He's an excellent example of how not to behave when competing. Show him to young kids who are training and say simply, "don't be like this guy."

Oh dear. Is Petchey on the payroll to be so....pompous?

These journalists are such dalaals/pimps of ATP, they post ridiculous stuffs.
The common narrative now is that this era is the toughest era ever in Men's Tennis, even Andy Murray is saying that because it pumps up his own resume.

People like Ivan Lendl must be wondering, if this era is toughest then what was my era? sandwiched with ATGs before and after in the gen that preceded and succeeded.

Right, because Novak is the only winner in sports? Even Novak would tell you he acts like a little crybaby on the court.
He’s the only slam winner this year, so “don’t be like this guy” doesn’t help your kids much, does it?

Why would I want my kids to be miserable, nasty and ill tempered when competing lol? Djokovic is a great tennis player but as I said, even he would tell you he acts like a little crybaby on the court.

He never stops and made the necessary changes to his lifestyle and game to prolong his career despite most of the tennis world (at least crowds) always being against him. He took care of himself physically whereas Nadal never changed his game up despite old lady feet and flabberer never got into tip top shape which is why Djoker carries on and the other two are done

Honestly, you sound like you're pretty miserable. You know there's a problem when you're complimenting Federer and Serena, two players you notoriously dislike, to have a go at Djokovic. RG really messed you up didn't it?

Nadal shot his entire payload on the Federer in the 2000s, he was an injured man playing tennis 2010s with a lot of wear and tear, on a constant decline from 2011, his way of playing cause this.
Most teenage prodigies burnout and became trash by their mid 20s but Nadal played till 35, that in itself is a big thing for him. He should thank his doctors who supply him the healthy medicines for a long career ;)

I've never been happier. Djokovic fans have been receiving spankings from me because Djokovic fans replaced Federer fans as the most arrogant group on the forum. I enjoy brining them back to reality.

Wow, Sunny014, I like this gracious side of you. (sincerely)
@Sunny014 very disappointed in you.

Nah, jk, there are some positive things about Djoker. The fact that he usually deals with crowd disrespect and very rarely says negative things about them is pretty tough to mentally do. I know I wouldnt be able to hold back and not go off on them.

Djokovic is a good example to follow for overall well being, fitness and health. If everybody followed Djokovic's example, the world, including you, would be full of healthy and positive people...the way the nature intended human beings to be.
Maybe off court. But on the court he is not very positive at all.

Novak himself wants to earn money and continue playing as a part of the mainstream, so even if he wants he cannot talk -ve of the crowd.
Maybe after his retirement when he settles in Serbia and opens an academy, we might see him speak his actual mind about the American and British crowd.
Till then he will maintain silence.

Sounds the opposite. Your constant whining makes you extra sad.

He's been on Djoker's payroll for a long time. When calling ANY match he spends the whole time singing Djoker's praises imploring people to like him because he is super human, the best at everything bla bla bla. He calls Djoker nothing bu the World #1.

Sad that such bias and propaganda exists in pro commentating.

He's the world number 1, and calling him world number 1 is called telling the truth. How's telling the truth bias and propoganda?

You, on the other hand, call his fan base a cult. That's textbook definition of bias.

Professional athletes don't really inspire me very much unless it's something to do with how I model my game after them (like adopting a pro's stroke technique).

The people who really inspire me are generally people I actually know IRL.

Novak is the world number 1 and has been for the longest time ever. Go being sour grapes somewhere else.

Why is it pompous? He's not saying that you have to root for him ("whatever your view of (him)"), but yes, for those who can't respect his work, sacrifice and success, I think it does reflect on them.

How Rafael Nadal has won 20 Slams despite constantly dealing with acute foot pain

20-time Major winner Rafael Nadal announced his withdrawal from the US Open last week, citing a foot injury. In the same post Nadal also declared that he would be calling it a season, before expressing hope of returning to competitive tennis in 2022.

Nadal's career, although covered in glory for the most part, has also been plagued by multiple injuries. During the prime of his career, the King of Clay had to fight long bouts of chronic knee ailments which made him miss multiple important tournaments. Nadal has also suffered major injuries to his back, shoulder and left wrist that have deprived him of playing time.

There's a widespread belief that Rafael Nadal's numerous injuries throughout his career are a result of his physical playing style. But that is a very simplistic take on the Spaniard's injuries, and is often voiced by people who have taken no interest in following his career closely.

While Nadal's brutal game style is a contributing factor, it isn't the primary cause of his problems. Nadal is not a self-loathing masochist who would persist with something that was actively harming his body while an alternative existed.

The primary cause instead is something else, something that cannot be fixed: Nadal's left foot.

For a while now, Rafael Nadal had been complaining about pain in his left foot. News of the foot bothering him first emerged after his defeat to Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros back in June. But in his recent statement posted on Twitter, Nadal revealed that the foot has been bothering him for over a year now.

He is doing something worse than saying you should root for him. He is saying there is something wrong with you if you do not. He's a tennis commentator and it sounds pompous.

From the tweet that was posted, that was not my read. By saying, "Whatever your view of him", that implies something like (italicized, in my wording) "You don't have to like him, but he deserves respect." In fact, that would not be a bad ground rule for all discussions.
