Has Shapovalov EVER had anyone ranked ahead of him that was younger than him? The reason I'm asking is because a win here, then a win over Alcaraz, FAA moves ahead of Shapovalov in the rankings for the first time. Might be the first time anyone younger than him is ranked ahead of him in his career.

Hmm, very interesting. FAA had that streak broken earlier this year when Sinner passed him, but I never realized that Shapo had his own streak going as well. Pretty sure nobody younger has passed him in the rankings before.

FAA vs Alcaraz in QF. When was the last time we had a quarterfinals this young?
This is what I have been saying all tournament long: even if one of the 3 guys wins (ND, DM or AZ) next Sunday this is still a transition tournament - the big 3 era is winding down and the new generation is taking over. They will start winning grand slams and making deeper runs in the meantime. This is an exciting time for men's tennis!

3 of the 4 matches went the way I had hoped they would today. I would have preferred Diego but Botic played great today. I give him pretty much no chance to get past Medvedev in the next round though.

Tomorrow I am rooting for Zverev, Berrettini, Harris, and Brooksby. I feel confident that the first two will win, not so confident about the other two. Opelka is playing better than usual. I really do believe that Zverev will make it to the final.

Hoping Carlos wins against Felix on Tuesday. It's just so incredibly exciting!!!!

Another day in the books, looks like Sinner-Zverev starts at high noon eastern tomorrow. Looking forward to it!!
Perfect conditions for Zverev. Want Zverev and Djoker to win their matches in as little time as possible to set up a big clash for the semis.

If it's close or Med is ahead: Med

If Nole is ahead: *crickets*

A Zedovic semi would be more intriguing though, that would probably have a crowd as neutral as NY can be, I think Djokovic would be a slight crowd favorite.

I just don't see how Medvedev can possibly beat Djokovic in the final, he was beaten so easily in Australia and its not as if he has improved since then and Djokovic certainly hasn't got any worse. At least with Zverev v Djokovic you kind of think Zverev might have some sort of chance after beating him in the Olympics and being on such a good winning run at the minute, its a lot more of an unknown result than Djokovic Medvedev that's for sure.

Medvedev is ready to win a Grand Slam. I still say that Djokovic will not be his opponent, Zverev will be. But who knows? Maybe it will be Opelka instead of Djokovic! This USO has had so many surprises! If Carlos makes it to the final I will be in heaven!

I agree this is a transition tournament. Particularly as Djokovic is focused on the slams and not winning events much of at all outside of them. There has been a gradual shift outside of the slams for a while and now it’s getting stronger in the slams.

I was thinking about the 8 quarter-finalists, who do I love the most to who do I not love the most? Not who I am predicting to win but who I would want to win! So here is my top 8 of who I personally love:

1. Carlos Alcaraz Garfia!!! I just love this kid! Can't wait to see his career unfold and I think it's going to be a great one! He will have his ups and downs but as long as there are more ups than downs... I haven't been this excited about a player since Rafa in 2004!

2. Matteo Berrettini - he needs to improve his serve but I always smile when I watch him play!

3. Felix Auger-Aliassime - while he looks like a 13 year old teenaged boy who has just reached puberty, he is exciting to watch! Nice to see him have a deep run here at the USO this year.

4. Lloyd Harris - he is likeable and plays really well. I have only seen him play four matches but I have enjoyed his style of play immensely.

5. Daniil Medvedev - He is so incredibly solid, he hasn't dropped a set, and while his personality isn't my personal cup of tea, he sure is a joy to watch!

6. Alexander Zverev - I do wish he would get rid of the chains! (; When he plays well he's great to watch but he often implodes. He is playing the best tennis of his career right now and it's great to see!

7. Botic van de Zandschulp - I have only seen him once, two days ago playing Schwartzman. So he rates low for that reason. I was very impressed with his level of play.

8. Novak Djokovic - I have never liked him and I never will. I dislike his personality and do not trust him in regards to the accusations against him going all the way back to the beginning of his career. I don't enjoy watching him play at all. Just not my cup of tea, sort of speak.

So, in a theoretical Novak - Medvedev final, who does the NY crowd go for?

It will be 80% Novak. I really don't think at that stage there's going to be so many blithering idiots cheering against seeing something happen first time in 52 years when most were not alive or in potty training.

Especially against Medvedev. If it was Shap maybe.

I'm lost. What's the schedule for SF and F?
I am fairly certain that the semis are at 3 p.m. EST and 7 p.m. EST tomorrow, and the final is on Sunday at 4 p.m. EST. If anybody has different information let us all know but that is what I saw when I looked up the t.v. schedule for the matches online.

So Friday 21:00/01:00 SF and Sunday 22:00 F in central Europe (Berlin, Bern etc.)?

Does the late match favor Djokovic?

Djokovic fans say it does, but I don't think so. Zverev is ready. Djokovic fans say whatever they need to in order for their player to be the one who will likely win. Zverev has been the better player the last several months, he is ready for this match.

Anyone is interested in Boys' singles?
There will be a huge battle here between Juncheng, Rincon and Kym. 3 names we may see on the ATP Tour very soon.

It would be great if they would show these matches on Tennis Channel while ESPN is showing the other matches. Which country is Rincon from?

I saw that Rincon is from Spain. I would like to see more of these types of matches just to check them out see if they have the potential to be future stars.

Just realized this, although I am sure someone mentioned it: the first round match between Nava and Musetti was the AO boys final not that long ago.
