Novak again showed his not PR side and stood up with Tsitsipas on his toilet breaks...

In his post match speech Novak stood up with Tsitsipas and said he is not doing nothing wrong, and that media were harsh on him with no reasons... He said that Tsitsipas was inside the rules which are not clear enough...

Novak showed that he is real players leader in a way he really doesn't care about PR s.h.i.t and he sais what ever he thinks...

Any of the big 3 CAN NOT say they are against strategic toilet breaks or MTO. Federer Nadal Novak each have pulled these shenanigans in some of the most important moments of their career.
They will be hypocrites if they do that.
In all fairness, it's not even comparable with Tsitsipas...

Makes sense, since Novak has been Steffi's lavatorial inspiration :)

He can't criticize the person who learned the tactic from him, can he?

Tsitsipas is an easy target. They know he is a quiet introspective character and he won't fight back. So the bullying carried on..
Could he have some sort of tummy disorder? Generally best not to pass comments on such habits in case he does have an issue.

Was ballsy of him to do that with how much negativity crashed upon Stefanos but then Novak is not a stranger to taking toilet breaks himself, against Tsitsipas most recently, so he probably would feel like a hypocrite not standing up for the guy.

I believe that part of the reason the toilet breaks are longer with Tsitsipas is not the Tsitsipee or the Tsitsipoop. Any of us who have watched him knows that he sweats so much he literally looks like he has been thrown into a pool. Have any of you ever tried to change clothes when you are that wet? First of all it’s not easy to shed that kit, towel off to get dry enough and then get another kit on that’s sticking to you. I know this because I run and play tennis (at a low level) in summer in oklahoma and sweat a whole lot. Frequently go to get something to eat with friends after tennis and I struggle with this. I have been somewhat down on Tsitsi over this and I do think much of it is gamesmanship but I’m not on the side of those who insist he is cheating. Sascha of all people should know the power of people’s words and unfounded allegations that have not been proven.

Novak's speech surprised me in many ways. Not only did he defend Tsit's psychological tactics (which may be an unethical abuse of the spirit of the rules) but he also seemed to defend Zev and dismiss the abuse allegations made against him.

I’m not defending tsitsipas or anything but he was scrutinised way too much but it was mostly due to the constant whining by Andy.

if fed or Osaka took a 8 min break media wouldn’t have done this.
It was punk Zverev whining!

And too many sheep that brought into it.

The fact that you even compare the two shows your lack of judgment.

You should at least made mention of the vast difference in the 2 'things' you claimed Djokovic defended!

The fact that you didn't is revealing.
Why should I have done that? Is it so people like you, who can't see obvious differences, don't get confused? Bottom line, you lack reading comprehension and responded in a somewhat hysterical manner because you didn't understand what you read. Own it. Accept it. Learn from it. Move on.

The fact that the difference between those things has to be spelled out for you if they are ever mentioned in the same paragraph or on the same thread is very revealing about you. Get lost.

I see you...

And you're still not mentioning any distinction!

Stay mad you got called out.

Huge respect to Novak for standing by Tsitsipas and speaking out against the truly shameful bullying initiated by Murray (lost all respect) and Zverev and gladly lapped up by the mainstream media, press and others. Djokovic can easily choose not to address it, esp considering how close he seems to be with Murray and Zverev. But he stood against the witch hunt and stood by his colleague. Only a great person can do this. Kudos. Go for the CYGS man. Nobody deserves it more.

Agreed with everything except the bolded part. The accusations are not unfounded by any means. There is a lot of corroborating evidence on these accusations. Sascha is doing his best to distract and manipulate the media by turning them towards Tsitsipas, so that the heat is off him. And him spreading nasty gossip about Tsitsipas cheating with his phone is the lowest one can stoop. Zverev has no morals whatsoever, so appealing to his "better" (non-existent) nature is a futile exercise.

This is ****ing ********. Putting Federer in the same category of NADAL in this category is absurd and dishonest. You're wrong, and if you want I could to bring a list showing those occasions.

If he was criticizing Tstitsipas, he would be a hypocrite.
ATP needs to change the rules for toilet breaks. If they don't, I don't see why tennis players should stop, and fans will have to get over it and stop talking about it.

I’ve been critical of Tsitsi’s pushing the envelope on the rules; not just the toilet breaks but the on court coaching too. That being said, the rules are vague and everyone is trying to get an edge. That doesn’t make them a bad person. I’m glad Novak spoke out about this.
This is it!

I mean, he went out of his way to bring up Tsitsipas himself; it was unprompted. He could have said nothing

This is complete bulls**, as usual coming from you. Show me one instance of Djokovic taking a 10 minute toilet break.

Even the now maligned toilet break he took against Tsitsipas in the FO final was only about 3 and a half minutes long

Post match speeches are getting boring and journalists dull. The reporter in case who gave Novak the toilet break question was clearly unprepared for the interview as well as dumb. He appeared to have little idea what to ask and when he came up with that question, the reporter was unaware that Novak did take a bathroom break after one of the sets with Zverev. Novak was quick to correct the incompetent reporter that he did take a toilet break during the match while the man with mic blushed. Trully embarrassing moment for the media outlet for even asking the question. There's so much those people could ask after the match but clueless they are. I'd say that every interviewer should understand tennis if not play it at least so that the questions would make more sense and be on the topic of the match that had just been played. I hate to say that but I am beginning to think that Osaka was onto something with her attacks on the media.

"Do not **** on your own doorstep" is the rather vulgar idiom which springs to mind here.

Although - in this context - the phrase takes on more than just a figurative meaning.

This is blown out of proportion but yeah Tsits should cut down his toilet time, more than 5 minute is wrong, one odd occasion may be, but not in every match.

Wouldn't you say that with the manner and context in which the toilet breaks were brought up, it could only be to mock Tsitsipas? As I said, Novak was gutsy for standing up for Stefanos right then, but it would be somewhat motivated by him using toilet breaks himself.

I don't think the two are comparable though; Tsitsipas has been taking really long toilet breaks and he's been doing way too often. If he kept them to a couple of minutes and only going once in a while (like Novak and every player who takes normal toilet breaks), he wouldn't have caught all this flak

Well he does it himself so does he really have a choice?

What's he gonna say. Yeah I can do it but Tsitsipas cannot? :censored:

Djokovic didn't have to bring up Tsitsipas, but he chose to do so to defend him

Also, terrible false equivalence since Djokovic never took breaks as often or as long as Tsitsipas has

Let’s say that toilet breaks won Novak RG 21. They are an important part of his success. I don’t think Tsitsipas has unlocked the secrets of the toilet break yet. They don’t work for him as well.
