Closest recent retail racquet to Novak’s actual Racquet

So if I wanted to make a fun experiment on trying to get as close a possible to Novak’s real racquet what could I buy? Say we limit it to 2019-2021 racquets.

I was thinking

Wilson blade pro 2020 h22
Head radical pro/mp 2021

What would be a good platform that would get close to the same feel with mods? I’m not really expecting to be good enough to use it I just like building stuff like this.

Blade Pro is probably the closest available at retail. He actually used the H22 when he was with Wilson, and it's a copy of I believe the retail frame his racquet is based off of. Maybe the Microgel Radical MP that was available as a price point frame for years after it was a flagship racquet...though, many including myself will say the feel is way different than the older radicals and likely from Djokovic's frame.

@dr325i would be able to give you the best answer, though.

Djokovic's frame is heavily modified for his specs anyways! Just buy the $4.5K used Pro Stock if you want his actual racquet he uses. If you want new, you have shell out the $18K for the Black version. The yellow is not for sale yet! Anyways, are you an advanced player NTRP 5.0+ in order to be able to hit with it?

I heard that the wilson paint job he played with was a pt117 painted over as a wilson. Is that not true?

Why is the microgel feel different from djokovics? I thought djokovic grew up playing with the Agassi frame

It is hard to say how PT346 or PT113 plays like beacuse almost nobody played with it. If you want to get similar feel to LM Radical, Wilson Ultra Tour feels quite similar. I played with LM Radical for a long time and Ultra Tour was the closest what I could find and an easy switch. The feeling on impact is very similar. They swing a bit different though. Ultra Tour feels quite balanced in weight distribution all around the racquet. LM Radical feels a bit like a sledgehammer, there is some weight in the hoop. With the same specs Radical is more powerful than Ultra Tour. I haven’t checked if adding a bit of lead at 5, 7, 2 and 10 to Ultra Tour will have similar sledgehammer effect (LM Radical has these ridges there). Also the launch angle is slightly different. Still Ultra Tour was by far the closest one to LM Radical from new frames.

New Radicals are different, they don’t feel similar to me. I haven’t played with Blade Pro.

What is the PT117?

It's a typo, I meant 113
The PT113Bx (there is also an “A” and “C”) and the PT346.1 layups are very similar. They are different from those you mentioned above.

Feel-wise, id say they are closest to FXP Radical layup but higher SW and more mass in the head.

Flexpoint and Liquidmetal layups are so much different? They don’t feel so much different, especially if you match SW, balance and weight

Are you using ultra now or switch to something else?

Head Liquidmetal Radical Tour is the closest frame to Novak’s ever released to the public

How close do you want to get?

Just lead up a 95/98 head 18x19 18x20 pattern to 360SW 353g 32.3cm balance and string it with VS 1.25/ALU at 64/62 lbs and you'll be pretty close.
Isn’t Joker’s racket speculated to be something insane like 53 RA though?

... based on something else that he asked for.
Hello Doc =)
Do you have any idea of what he asked for? Do you think he liked the FXP layup but not the holes, and prefered the LM weight distribution?
Could it be?
Thanks ;)

Reading this thread, and I tried, is a dizzying experience. I like the idea of what the closest frame we mortals can buy being to our favorite pros. I hate that there are so many codes and not enough it's very close to this or that.
What I learned reading this.. the Microgel Radical MP (which they have for sale on TW) is probably your best option.

Different mold and very different layup

Old radicals are similar in mold but very brittle or dead. Hard to get any stability and feel out of those. Today. The Wilson blade pro H22 is the closest Djokovic stick you can buy. He won his first AO with a H22

but seriously which speed does djokovic actually use ?

Where can I get a H22 retail?

i really liked the commemorative paint on his us open racquets. cringed when he smashed that one this afternoon, with the djokovic vibration damper skidding across the ground

Just buy an lm radical or ti radical and customize it to noles specs. That’s likely the closest you can get. Or try to get a pt113 or 346 from a pro not as famous as nole. Than you only have to pay 800 instead of couple of thousands ;)

What about the dunlop cx200 tour? that frame has some similarities to the old radicals/ prestiges
I have the past gen cx200 tour. It is more solid and predictable than those old radicals. It feels more comfortable than my old prestige. Djokovic’s radical is made with a different material and mold.

Serious question: Would his smashed racquets have collector value? Imagine if he'd turned the match around after the smashed racquet. Surely that one would have some sort of commemorative value.

His used wristbands probably have collector value, so I'm sure his smashed sticks would too.

Sounds like you were handling a racquet above your level… I recommend you try a PWR racquet for that type of a feel

Lol. this is what a keyboard 5.0 usually say about others he never played with. record yourself and watch it. Now you have your answer.
And this is why I will never choose my racquet based on your advise.

The value of his smashed sticks may go way up after djokovic s us open final straight sets exit or his ref incident last year at the same venue.

When have I ever pretend to be the “authority” like you and the dr325 did ever so often? you have no expertise on the said racquets yet you are here to manipulate my view on my own racquets. Tell me, where can people buy Djokovic’s racquet today? Is it a speed ? Can you even answer the simplest questions ?
I have hit with Djokovic’s racquet. I’m not here to manipulate anyone. You just can’t can’t makeup stories about racquets you have never experienced. Tell me where can one buy Nadal’s racquet today, where can one buy Raducanu’s racquet today, where can on buy Wawrinka’s racquet today, where can one buy Jack Sock’s racquet, where can one buy Felix Auger-Aliassime’s racquet, where can one buy Cam Norrie’s racquet, and I can go on and on and on.

One can buy 2004 APDs and Yonex95D as well if you look for them but cannott afford DJokers racquet
and would not want to as my weighed up Vcore 95 s1 matches it in its lack of spin and outdoes it everywhere else.
The Prince textreme 95 V1 is one of the best 95sq in racquets released in the last 5 years if not the best when weighed up
all this talk about Noles original $$$$ racquet is blasphemy when you are not a top 200 player or ever aspire to be.

You can by Nadal's racquet from Rafa himself, Raducanu's racquet from Emma herself, Wawrinka's racquet from Stanislas himself, Sock's racquet from Jack himself, FAA's from Felix himself, Norrie's from Cam himself. The hard part will be contacting them and convincing them to sell them to YOU!

Here's an idea from left field for those who obsess about elite players equipment ... forget about buying anyone else's racquet. Better to understand your game and your requirements for a racquet. learn about customisation, and come up with your own ideal stick.

(Just as an aside ... there are plenty of very wealthy people who have purchased elite players' actual racquets in the hope they or their child would instantly become an uber player. Sadly they were all disappointed with the result. Funny that.)

What about a Head Microgel Radical MP with his weight, balance, strings, and stringing it about 15 times with a tension of 28 Kg. before put the strings you want to play with?

In the case of Nadal, I’d think so. But with Djokovic there are too many smashed ones around for them to be worth anything.

Supply, demand and whatnot

There are posters here with connections to the industry or in possession of these actual rackets. They are being nice by posting information and things for the benefit of everybody who is interested to learn and isn't an insider to the industry.

Then you are questioning them and annoying them by arguing against their facts rather than being thankful for what they are sharing which they really don't have to do at all. That's going to annoy them into not sharing information so try to consider that and not argue with facts or insiders.

keyboard 3.5 can post just as hard as a keyboard 5.0, but with less accuracy.
Yep, it's not so much how good your good posts are, it's how many bad posts there are in between - it's whether you can maintain a consistent level of post quality, rather than, as is the case with my efforts, the alternative where I force those who haven't already hit ignore to sift through a mountain of dross in order to glean the occasional worthwhile nugget.
