Alcarez-Musetti

Two big talents with big futures-
Musetti looking bright in early part of the year whilst tailing off backend of the year but still impressive wins over Wawrinka, Nishikori and co last year at rome then pushing Novak too 5 at RG this year (first two sets unreal).

Alcarez quieter start to year but looked superb at the us open, quarter final run and a first atp title to go with it in umag.

so is it just hype or are these two boys going far?

Musetti looks a solid shout for RG at some point and maybe slams that play a bit slower. Will have to learn how to develop on faster surfaces.

Alcarez- opposite- looks to thrive on super quick surfaces as shown at US, but also looks like he can grind. Could be a frightening prospect when he reaches physical peak.

prediction: Both multiple slam winners, and both win more than Jannick Sinner

Musetti will do nothing. Sinner is fsr better. Alcaraz though looks much mentallly tougher than Sinner. Alcaraz will be no.1 by 2024

I think we've seen enough of Alcaraz to see it isn't just hype. That doesn't mean he's going to win multiple majors, but seem enough to be sure he's going to be really good. Musetti looks strong when on, but he still has a long, long way to go. Like, straight up he couldn't even make it through back to back five set matches. Forgivable enough at his age, but Alcaraz is a year younger, and already there.

I'd still probably take Musetti's first two sets against Djokovic over Alcaraz's first one against Tsitsipas, but there's a lot more to it than that.

I think you're right about his mental toughness. I don't see him choking like the rest of the mugs, he doesn't come across as a choker.

Unfortunately, Musetti introduced himself to the tennis lexicon this year.

From now on, whenever a guy quits with fake injury when losing badly, he is ‘pulling a Musetti.’

That said, I hope he learned from that match, and the aftermath. I’m rooting for him to have a strong career.

I could be wrong, but Musetti doesn't come across as a future major titleist to me. Pleasant to watch game, though, so I kind of hope I'm wrong.

He could possibly be the inspired French Open winner in a post Rafa world but I agree he seems like he'll peak in the bottom half of the top 10 imo

Musetti is a joke, overhyped because he won two sets against Djokovic. After winning those two sets he proved that he is not capable of winning big

Would love musetti to put it together long term, but he seems to take games off when things aren’t going his way. Gonna have to fix that if he wants to take the next step

Musetti has a beautiful style but his endurance is very questionable. It will always be his Achilles heel.

Musetti has got artistic playing style - not sure how much effective it gonna prove. Could become new Gasquet or slam winner may be. But definitely i don't see next ATG is him.
