Head Prestige 2021

Releasing December 2021 - model names are getting all mixed around - could be some other tweaks in head sizes/beam/string patterns and the paint job is going to be very nice (gloss). I hit with the Boom Pro and loved the feel, seems like a more solid Clash 98.. hit with the 2022 Speed Mp, also love the feel. So, I have very high hopes for the prestige update coming soon using the same updated tech that is in those frames. Let us all know if you have any info or are able to play test some early demos and give us your thoughts! Long live the prestige!

Regardless of the relative merits of the offerings from different brands, Babolat's range has such a simple colour coded 'storyline'; virtually all the other brands need a user manual. (Prince fan FYI not FTW...).
Head's lines are color-coded...there's just so much overlap and so MANY lines that it's crazy difficult to keep track of haha

Dunlop also has a similar colour coding scheme for its 3 racket lines. It's naming scheme is even simpler : CX - control, SX - spin, FX - force/power.

Prestige is releasing November 4.
No mold changes. Layup tweaks. No string pattern changes (maybe additional string patterns...)
Not Gloss, only top portion (hoop), throat is matte.
Excellent feel on the Pro (former MP).

New Speed coming out in Q1 2022 and is great.

Somebody claimed the 95 was becoming a box beam?

can you please share your thoughts about layup change? What do you think was the goal for Head? They basicly took the 360+ and wanted to push it towards something (improve? or maybe just offer slightly bigger SW - weight distribution). 360+ is a great frame. Hard to point out any flaws. I would say it's down to preference rather than improvements.

Coincidentally I just bought a Graphene Touch Prestige Mid off eeebay. Weight and balance feels perfect. Head size is exactly between my PS90 and VCoreHD. Very interested to see how it plays. If it’s good I might try to buy up a whole load of new old stock. Paint job is really nice too.

The throat flexes different and what I noticed when testing it back in March was the launch angle was higher (only complaint I had with the 360+ was the low launch angle)

90% gloss - the off color on throat has been extended up a bit this year and decals have changed. This will hold true for most of the line up. It will certainly look better than the fire truck red and orange

I don’t find HEAD’s range particularly difficult to understand or navigate. However, I am a gear head (and by definition, so is anyone who hang outs on TTW) and can see how the average recreational player looking at the CPI chart for the first time would think, “WTH is this? I’m headed back to the Babolat section”!

Agree fully that HEAD needs to come up with clear, easily identifiable branding for each silo. They aren’t that far off, to be fair.
Maybe something like:
Prestige - classic.
Gravity - plush, 100 sq in.
Radical - firm, 98 sq in.
Speed - play like Djoker (firm, 100 sq in)
Extreme - crisp, maximum spin.
Instinct - DOA
Boom - You got this! (power)

I’m sure their marketing department can come up with a whole lot better than my lame 5 minute attempt. Please do HEAD!

Excellent feel on the Pro (former MP).

I think that in the current 360+ Prestige line, the Pro, MP and Tour all have great feel for their weight and head size class. In fact, I’d go so far as to say the current Tour (soon to be MP) is a much better racquet than it’s sales figures might indicate. It’s just criminally ignored and/or forgotten. I would pick it over the much better marketed Radical MP any day of the week.

The throat flexes different and what I noticed when testing it back in March was the launch angle was higher (only complaint I had with the 360+ was the low launch angle)

I’m part of the cohort who found the existing MP to have a lower than ideal launch angle, especially since I play a OHBH, which became too much hard work if I was being pressed. If the 2022 Pro has a higher launch angle, that’s something to look forward to! (y)

The pictures are already “public”.
The throat is matte.
I’ve held both, the retail and the TGT/PT all gloss versions.
I definitely agree - looks great!

can you expand on how the throat flexes differently? Is it firmer?

Wait, so the 95 is not going back to a box beam? Seeing conflicting data points.

Those red Prestige don’t sell well, it is time to mixup and blend the names and try To confuse consumers once again.
Seriously head should put the Murray 16x19 pt57 in the lineup. And stop Playing with product names and treating us like fools.

How does that compare to previous versions of the prestige? I’ve only played the flexpoint MP and they’re holding on for dear life. Compared to other racquets I’ve used, they seem to have a pretty low launch angle, which I prefer

Played the Graphene Touch Mid I just bought today. Love it. Does everything well. Paintjob is great, so new paint job should be good. Shame there's no longer a Mid in the line.

I'm curious...I love my current MP, maybe this means I'll be able to grab a couple more of them for a little cheaper after the updated models come out. But I'm particularly curious, if the mold isn't changing, why the change in launch angle? Have they changed the composite formula?

Sorry... after I posted this I found the post that indicated they changed the layup. Given how flat I tend to hit both FH and OHBH, I might just have to try the new MP...er...Pro. Kind of a side note, I was kinda disappointed they didn't do a Laver Cup Prestige... but I assumed that it might be because no one at Laver Cup is actually playing with a Prestige right now. Anyone know if that assumption is accurate. If so, it seems a bit of a shame and makes me a bit nervous about what that may suggest about the future of the Prestige line... especially now that the Gravity seems to be fairly popular right now...and they're introducing yet another (Boom?) line?

Maybe it's the change in throat flex that has been mentioned by @dr325i

We'll see when it comes out, as this may be an individual thing as well. For instance, I have not had any trouble with the launch angle with the 360+, but others have. It's just personal and comes down to swing style, technique, type of grip one uses when executing his/her shots, etc.

@dr325i do you know something about beam thickness of the prestige mp (16x19 version) or the specs of it ?
I would like to have prestige mp 16x19 with the specs of the Pro. Just string pattern change.

I'm interested in the 95, whatever that's called now.
After hearing that it's a box beam I am very interested. I love the 360+ MP but on defense and kick serves I want a little more. This frame could solve those issues.

When are they planning to release the new frames? Jan 2022?

Same mold as the current prestige Pro
All molds remain the same, not sure how many times I need to repeat, as current 360+ MP, Pro and Tour.
Not sure where stuff about box beam 95 is coming from…

Very interested to hear how they feel. I would buy these over new ones if they're good enough, save a bunch of money that way.

Or maybe Head decided to align all lines to follow some logic like “Pro” is the high end, precision oriented with (available) 18x20 pattern (Gravity, Speed, next Prestige), and so on. Just like car manufacturers went through the same exercise a few years ago.

But that may be too much for you to understand as you don’t understand the basics anyway…

Looking at the current Pro (95, 16x19), it seems quite similar to older generations of the Radical? Particularly the Youtek Radical Pro 16x19.
Thicker (but not super thick) beam, 16x19, 95 head.
