Nadal about to miss his 28th masters event on HC since 2008

The last one he missed was Hamburg 2006, when both he and Federer killed each other in Rome.

Interesting...

The Miami final would have been fire in BO5.

Not so much at IW where Nadal dropped his level after the first set.

His ground game was fine, it was his serving that dropped. Maybe best of five could have given him more time to fix the issue

How many clay masters has he missed in the same timeframe?
The last one he missed was Hamburg 2006, when both he and Federer killed each other in Rome.
Wimbledon 2009
Wimbledon 2012
USO 2012
AO 2013
USO 2014
Wimbledon 2016
USO 2020
Wimbledon 2021
USO 2021
So since 2008 (thread title year) Nadal missed 28 hard court masters, and fat 0 clay masters?
And he missed 8 slams but never clay slam?

I mean even in desert it's raining occasionally, but not on Nadal's precious clay... Lol...

Will his injuries heal till MC 2022, I wonder? Will someone miracle break this wonderful streak? Good sense and practice say he will be back.... No matter what hell be back... Lol...

He'd have probably skipped Madrid more often if it hadn't been played in Spain.
Why you think so? MC and Rome are not in Spain and he never misses those... If you think of conditions in Madrid, have in mind that there are no many high altitude big cities so he would play anyway...

The ultimate question has got to be how many of those missed would he have won if remotely healthy. And then of course if it is just health then that's too bad because that's life. It's the whole Bobby Orr and Mario Lemieux or in football Sterling Sharpe situations. You can only go on what actually happened and that doesn't take away the fandom, it is what it is. Joe Montana probably has 5-6 Super Bowls if not for Leonard Marshall, etc, etc, etc.

How about withdrawing from RG16 before 3R? Does it count as rain in your desert?
Well, he was cleaned of the court year before... He avoided same destiny by pulling out... Those thinking Nadal would leave the tournament if he hadn't to play Novak soon are nuts... ;)

Anyway, even if he was badly injured he tried to play FO, which he wouldn't do for sure anywhere else... Clay centered seasons and career overall, only blind can't see...

He was cleaned off the court back in 2015. But just mere 2 years later (at the age when more years become clear disadvantage), WHEN HEALTHY, he cleaned everybody else off (without dropping a set, no less; incl. Thiem who sent Novak home with a bagel in the third)

I seriously doubt a healthy Rafa fears Djokovic on clay.

Would have won at least 10 of those if injury didn't prevent him from playing. The guy is better on the surface than Sampras after all.

You know that in 2017 Novak was injured and everyone beat him right and left?
Even if it wasn't the case Nadal would be cleaned by Novak, same year before... But we will never know because Nadal just quite...
