This coming Wednesday, the Sant Llorenc City Council will declare Rafa as an adopted son of the city for help with flood clean-up and his financial support after heavy rainfall led to severe flooding that killed 13 people and caused material damages in the city three years ago, on 9th October 2018. Rafa made the largest contribution of one million euros to help the victims. The council also took into account that Rafa's foundation has helped children from socially vulnerable families for over 10 years.
Rafa is expected to attend the event taking place on October 13.

So return at Aus open seems on the cards now unless for another injury blow. I think a good 2 months of practice will be great for Rafa considering it wasn't major injury and his normal life was going smoothly so if pain is gone then level should be back soon
What people have forgotten is Nadal was destroying tsitsipas in australia before his back gave out. He was destroying Djokovic before the foot went. Innwashigton he beat Sock when he was limping who was thrashing Zverev before his own injuries and took Harris all the way who has been scorid some good results since.
The doommongers have not actually been studying things. Game wise Nadal is way ahead of anyone on tour outdoors. On any surface. He has evolved his game. Injuries stopped him winnin at least 2 Majors this year but the massive bonus is he has hardly played for 2 years so mentally will be fresh and hungry.
As long as he can be fit do not be surprised to see him win Australia and French open and then the talk of a CYGs will start. He will not win a CyGs but i think he will win fO snd one of Uso or ao next season. If anyone is in doubt rewatch the matches i referred to. You can see the game is there.
i am more optimistic about 2022 than ibwas about 2021 this time last year as i knew he was due a slamless year.

Pain in his left foot is related to a bone anomaly he was born with.

Let’s not jump the gun :) Hopefully you are right though :) I suppose we have to wait and see how he responds to practice, etc.

Hopefully AO will run a bit smoother this year also in January!

I'll be a bit honest but him winning off clay now won't be easy but if he is fit and some luck with draw can maybe sneak a major off clay but at Rg it will be a different ball game if he is fit as I expect him to really be hungry to win it again and don't see anyone beating a fit And firing rafa at Rg barring a Peaking Djokovic or a rejuvenated thiem even then I don't see them beating him especially at traditional rg conditions whuch are there in finals day

Well watchimg Indian wells honestly there is nothin to fear. These players are heavily reliant on fast conditions. Rafa must be watching and lickig his lips.

Nadal-Tsitsipas was the highest level of tennis played at 2021 AO.
Of course Tsitsipas couldn't keep that level up in the following rounds, but Nadal would have.
Always a waste when Tsitsipas wins a big match at the slams, because you know he'll waste the chance after that.
Nadal can win the 2022 AO and 2022 USO based on what he showed in 2021.
And of course he'll also be going for his 6th Canada Masters crown.

Oh god if only he could be there now. High bounce slow court heavy condition which together he would like more than the other players ;)
Rafa would have walked IW the way conditions are. Unless they make AO and Uso next season Cpi 40 plus id heavily favour Nadal to win at least one of them plus FO. He is head and shoulders above the field when fit now.
Im not worried about the foot as this happened in 2004. It is his back that worries me more but the long lay off should have helped big time

Interview

Rafa was interviewed today after he was named an "Adopted Son of Sant Llorenc". He doesn't know when he'll be ready to compete again.

Excerpts from the article published in Marca, a Spanish national daily sport newspaper, translated from Spanish via Google:

¤¤ "I do not know, when I'll play again. I work a lot every day, I follow a specific plan with very clear objectives," replied the Balearic tennis player to a question about his recovery process.
"I won't say what those objectives are," he added, "because there are things that I cannot control one hundred percent, but inside my head, I am clear about what my objectives are and I trust that things will follow a positive course to be able to try to compete", he indicated.

"I work a lot every day to try, firstly, to recover, and, secondly, when I am recovered, to be ready to play again," said the winner of twenty Grand Slams titles.
Nadal recalled that "relatively recently", he underwent treatment on his foot, "a little aggressive," he said. "I am in a process of recovery, with a progressive increase in loads... You have to be a little cautious...", he added.

The Mallorcan tennis player insisted that he follows "to the letter" everything that is being recommended to him to return to competition and that he does so "with the best of attitudes and with the maximum intensity and enthusiasm possible".
"There are things that do not depend on me, but I trust that what I am doing will give the result that I hope," he remarked. ¤¤

Rafa's former coach - Toni Nadal

Toni Nadal partcipated in the forum dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Mallorca Magazin on Wednesday night. Toni talked about Rafa, himself and Rafa's academy. He spoke in German and English. 180 participants attended the forum.

The Mallorca Magazin is a German-language weekly newspaper in Mallorca. It was founded in 1971 at the beginning of the tourism boom on Mallorca. The publication is aimed at both German-speaking vacationers and residents living on the island. As a purely local newspaper, made by German editors, Mallorca Magazin deals almost exclusively with island topics. The Mallorca Magazin is frequently quoted in German media and thus also has a function as a multiplier for Mallorca subjects. (Source: Wikipedia).
Mallorca is one of the most popular holiday destinations for Germans. A lot of Germans have bought properties in Mallorca.

His injury timing is terrible. Could've been a great opportunity for him to bag a win at IW or Miami.

I think it's wrong to call his foot problem an injury, when in reality it is a chronic, congenital condition for which the method of treatment was no longer effective.

Rafa has trained at his academy's gym. He was seen training today, too.
The man next to Rafa is Bleiquel Colina, a Venezuelan bodybuilder, who won a gold medal at the 2020 Arnold Sports Festival Europe:
