Leave the Vostro/Inspiron/Latitude and always go with XPS [13; 15; 17] but Alienware for gaming [DELL owned].

What is the intended use of this laptop? Light office, internet surfing, video or text messaging or heavy duty desktop replacement where you need more of everything? For light use, 8-16 GB of fast memory, fast hard drive, lots of connection options will suffice. For the latter case, 32 GB of memory and as big an attachable array of drives will be needed. Cooling may also be an issue on the 2nd option.

Never ever ever get an Alienware.
Never had an Alienware before or after it was acquired. However, If I were to choose between the G [is no Alienware] and XPS 17, I'd stick with XPS, save the incredibly expensive Precision mobile station.

Oops. Just kidding. Every time I hear of "Dell" computers I think of these commercials 20 years ago that Dell ran almost nonstop. The catchphrase, "Dude, you're getting a Dell" was quite memorable and amusing.

I've been hearing about this Framework laptop.
Anyone else familiar with it.

I saw a headline about never putting your XPS in a bag in sleep or hibernate mode.

One of my tennis club friends wanted to buy a new laptop because his old laptop is going very slow.

I installed a fresh new Fedora operating system on it and now the laptop is going mighty fast.

Hello All, anyone know which model is better, Dell Inspiron or XPS? Thank ye.
Really depends on what you'll be using the laptop for. Dell XPS is really nice.

Also, the new Apple M1 Macbook Pro were just announced on Monday. If that falls within your needs and within your budget, I would recommend checking them out.

Intel 12th generation CPU are to be released on November 4th and announced October 27th. Desktop first and January mobile CPU will be out! At least 2X faster if not more then current 10th and 11th gen. for desktop. Mobile CPUs will have much better battery life too. PCIe gen 5 and DDR 5.

Now you left Apple and work for Intel?

The OP mention Windows laptops. The new MacBook Pro M1 Max is completely insane, years ahead of anything out there. I thinking about buying the M1 Max even if I don't have a need or use for it it is so fabulous computer. Performance is so remarkable with only 40 watts. Just so unbelievable. Intel, AMD and Samsung CEOs mouth must of dropped opened at the MacBook Pro announcement.

I gonna buy a Cray supercomputer. Had enough of these laptops.
I have serious work to do, not browse and play silly games.
