Prince Official - Racquets

If I want something with more pop on a given day I'll hit with my TT100 310. But because my arm/shoulder/neck get pretty sore after a couple hours of using that racquet I most times hit with the 100X305. I've added two grams at 12, and it's strung with Volkl V-fuse. And it does not feel like noodle. I think if you string too firm a string bed with the 100x you'll feel like it's a little too noodle like. There's not enough give in the strings so frame gets stressed and gives a little too much. I really love both sticks though. If you string both racquets with the same string and tension it's clear the TT100310 is stiffer and has more power.

Any idea when the next Phantom update might be? Love the Phantom X 305 but it's a bit too noodle-like. Would love for the next update to stiffen up a bit.

Soft flex is the raison d'être for the Phantom line. Stiffening them up makes them Tours.

That being said I like the idea of adding more cross bars to the line as the G's resist twisting and have a bit more power but still with that lovely feel at impact.

Does anyone have any idea about the Tours update in 2022? It was supposed to be spring 2022 but ni other info than that.

Phantom line was created to be a noodle. ;)
If you want something stiffer, go with the Tour 100 or O3 Tour 100. (y)
But Phantom frames will always stay around 60 RA or lower.
I'm not asking it to turn into a Pure Drive. I just want it bumped up a couple of RA points as to make it more stable, a bit more power, and reduce twisting in the throat. I can feel the racquet flex when I hit and I don't like that feeling. I want my racquet to be comfortable but I don't want to feel like I'm hitting with a noodle. It's super comfortable as it is, a few RA point increase won't change that property.

I don't know if it would be different enough for you but the 100P is supposed to have a bit more power than the 100X, and it's supposed to be less susceptible to twist. I've not tried it yet, but I'd like to just to see. If you like the feel of Prince racquets it might be worth a demo

Sounds like you want the G line.

Out of curiosity have any of you played with the 100P?

Very stable and solid, has good pocketing, little cumbersome to swing sometimes compared to what I prefer. It isn't really due to the swing weight but more so the twistweight but it's not a bad thing, just depends on what you are used to. Most frames these days have high twistweight as they are perceived the be easier to use anyway (forgiveness outside of centre). Hits a nice ball, I just prefer the 97P for more feel and manoeuvrability overall. I usually play the 97P at higher swing weight than the stock 100P.

New trifecta for when my wrist heals

Graphite 97
Tour 95
Twistpower 97 (left handed)

VGz9wB6.jpeg

Additions to the collection - left to right - 93P, O3 100, 100P, 97P, Tour O3 100, 97G, Tour 95, Twistpower 97

Pacific leather grip is great, reminds me of oehms but a little less prone to over stretching (slightly thicker firmer?). Oehms is still incredible but Pacific is a fine option.

@stephenclown , please provide us with your review of the elusive "Moby" :notworthy:
Even better if you can compare it to the 2015 TT95 :)

Never hit the 2015 but my mate has, will let him hit with it before me I think, had a serious TFCC injury and have been completely out for 7 months

More excited to hit the 97G seeing as I am a 97P user. I wasn't too impressed with the O3 Tour 100 but the 95 is considerably less stiff so it will probably be completely different

What hit their minds to go from black frame to white in Tours:unsure:
White frames were in vogue (Babolat Pure Strike, Tecnifibre...) when they were released in Japan. The 3rd gen Tour series release for the rest of the world may not necessarily be in white (if they ever release it outside of Japan).

I won't mind the color change if it is an improvement on the previous TT95s

Yeah I have the feeling that in recent years there are so many white racquets… All Tecnifibres, Head Speeds, Pure Strikes, fee Dunlops, Ezones.
About the release I think in one of the threads someone posted an email from Prince saying white Tours were Japan release only and the next international one will be different in 2022z

I was going to post a question regarding this actually.

I currently alternate between the TT310 and Ezone 100/98. I LOVE the TT310, I play so well with it. Unfortunately my body doesn't like it, sore shoulder and a little tennis elbow ensue.
The Ezone is my safety blanket, I know I can play with them injury and pain free, but I'm not so keen on how they feel and gripshape.

The 100X305 has been in my sights for a while. I suppose the question is, is it a sensible transition from the TT310? How comparable are they? Stability and power?
I can't demo any as they are very very scarce from where I'm from (UK). I would have to outright buy one at a steep price. It has the Prince gripshape, which I love, so that's a given pro.

I like to string the TT310 with Hyper G Soft btw.

I think before you purchase a 100X you should try stringing your TT100 with a gut/hybrid. Way easier on arm. That's what I'd do anyway. 100X as I said previously is a lot easier on my arm shoulder neck than the TT100, but it less powerful. Not tons less but noticeable. You might find the TT100 playable for you with gut hybrid, or even multi strings. I'm probably more susceptible to pain from tennis than most because I'm older than most folks playing the game.

Ah, I have tried this. It didn't make much difference.
Although I'm not exactly old, I do have ongoing tendonitis. My body simply isn't conditioned at the moment.
It could be to do with weight/swingweight. As it is the serve motion that causes me the most issues.

(Subscapularis tendon to be precise).

If going away from poly to a soft multi didn't help, and it hurts mostly on your serves I would suggest working with a good coach on your service motion. An incorrect service motion can certainly inflame that tendon. And if that doesn't help perhaps a longer rest for the tendon would calm it down. Have you had an orthopedic surgeon have a look? An MRI perhaps? Having said all that....the 100x would be easier on your body!

Thank you for your insight.
I have had a coach look at my service motion, and he couldn't identify anything that was detrimental to my fitness. Though I must admit he is quite young.
I do have a couple of theories of what's going on. Perhaps after contact my arm deceleration is too quick and sudden. And I have tried a lot of resting and rehab btw.

Listen, I'd love to get into my serve, but I really don't want to derail this thread! Haha. I should probably record it and post online.

I had both the TT310 and the 305X. The 305X to me was not similar or even an update to the original Phantom Pro 100. The 305X just didn't take weight well in my opinion at 10 and 2 (which i've weighted up my Graphite 100s for for last 7 years). The feel also was bizarre with the wrong string set up. Traditionally I play with a poly main around 50lbs and a multi cross usually a lb or two higher. The TT310 really can be a true all court racquet however the launch angle if not careful can get out of control very quickly on you. Plus, the beam is thicker than I've played with last 10 years which can take getting used to.

The 100G and 107G ive tested and enjoyed alot, the 100P is also a great great frame if you can handle SW near 330.

I had to pick up another Prince Hydrogen Chrome from TW Europe. Luckily, they were 25% off which made the final price about $210 USD with overseas shipping. These racquets aren't available anywhere in the states these days.

How much does shipping to the US from TWE cost?

There is one already available in Japan (I believe). It's called the Phantom Graphite 97. Hopefully, it will be released everywhere, but in Feb 2021 TW said it won't be getting the racquet any time soon.

It's a beauty of a frame as well, great glossy coat and thicker beam than the 100/107G so I wouldn't be surprised if/when it is released that it is entirely different. There are some differences between the Japan and US frames, namely the phantom 100 which is 20-22-20 beam

Fair enough. I'm not into weight customisation anyway if I'm honest.
Is the 100X ok in stock?

It's a great racquet. Pick one up. :) I had it at 60lbs and made a drastic move down to 48 and it is just a ton of fun to play with in that configuration. Wicked spin and great control for a 16x19 with a Prince Power level of 1000. 300g is perfect for me because I can take full swings and enjoy the stability against the heavy hitters I play against. We don't have pro shops in my area so my only way to get a good racquet is online.

How have you dealt with the low power?
The low power makes me feel comfortable when I'm attacking because I can swing out. I don't like powerful racquets. I'm also 6'3 and ~90kg, so I can generate my own power.

It's not the ideal racquet for going for big first serves, but that's not the end of the world for me right now. Important thing is that I feel comfortable on the court with it.

I think so, and it's easier on your body. I love the feel of this racquet. I've added 2 grams at 12 o'clock though. Very easy to do, but the racquet still works great in stock form. You'll have to swing out a bit more than with your TT100 310, but you'll feel less pain using the 100x 305.

Played with my Phantom 97P for the first time the other night. It came strung from the retailer with what looks like Syn Gut (moves around quite a bit). I liked how it played... I've modified it with weight in the head and handle (plus one overgrip). Got grip size 3 and was going to put my usual two overgrips, but the handle feels larger and only one was possible.

The racquet was very maneuverable, had good stability, and had enough power. It was very good out of the corners, great at slicing, but the Syn Gut was making it a bit erratic, so poly in the mains will be a must in order to add some control and reduce the string movement. Great feel, comfort, and a nice flex profile. I felt very comfortable with it. It is not as precise as the 93P 18x20 (of course), but the larger head size makes it less demanding overall. With the mods, the sweet spot size wasn't really an issue.

I didn't serve with it or play a match (used a different racquet for that) but was very happy with how the 97P performed. Once the new strings go in, it will be a real gem.
