I am currently using a RS300 grip size 4 3/8 w/ an overgrip and it definitely feels a little too small/twisting in hand on occasional mishits. Have you guys noticed that tf grips run small compared to other brands? For anyone using 4 1/2 in a tfight would that be more similar to a babolat 4 3/8, im worried it will be too big for me, thanks.
Because of the rectangular shape, it may feel smaller. All grips are a measure of the total length around... no difference there. Our hands are ALL different. Experiment with it, is worth it.

Don't. I still have my 300RS (buyer pulled out on me) and have been using it for fun since then, and have found that it's really good...as long as it's stock. Takes weight worse than any racket I've had; doesn't matter whether it's at 3/9, 10/2, 12, in the handle, throat, or elsewhere. It has an unprecedented combo of maneuverability & stability/plow but its wt. distribution feels awkward as soon as you add wt.
Really? I might have to demo the 315 again, but I remember it having too much power but that was with demo strings.

I wonder how the 'new' 2022 (?) TF40 will compare to the offerings from Diadem Elevate 98 (16x20) and new Solinco Whiteout 98 (16/19). Both rackets are foam filled, similar RA ~64 thinner flat beams ~21.5mm.
Perhaps DJTaurus.. Don't remember if he had tested the Diadems...or Galapagos can give us some clues.

First I would have to try the new TF as they come out but only If i like the specs of it.. I havent tried TF40 (305) only 315 version. I was slightly afraid that 32.5 cm would be too demanding. I like the trend that many frames switched from 32.5 to 32 balance and i hope to see it in TF as well

Diadem not in Europe. I am a newcomer on tecni sticks. I ve been testing them since XTC line. So my conclusion is the same and has not changed.

XTC overall better than RS line. Better feel/feedback but more harsh. RS line more plush. TF40 is by far the best feeling racquet and one of the best i ve ever hit with. Loved the paint job and the natural way it swings through the air. It’s Uber plush without being flexy. On the other hand XTC/RS and new TF40 2022 have similar feel….. you know from the first hit that you have to do with sth foam filled….. that’s why i prefer older TF40…. it was more classic and prestigious and the sweet spot was bigger. Too bad that i dont like 18x20 patterns and felt low powered for my style. I also tried sviayek racquet. It has the HH balance (at least the one i tested) i enjoy on a very light package…. so you can play easy and be effective. Very stable for its weight with zero vibrations. But I felt it muted in terms of feel and i would like it to be thinner on the head. Still lacks the plow to produce a really heavy ball. At the end of the day if i had to choose one racquet from tecnifibre that would be XTC 315…..XTC 305 was unpredictable…. 315 fitted me like a glove and never felt it’s weight.

If you haven't tried the 305, you haven't really tried a TF40 (in my opinion). The 315 is a totally different layup and doesn't have the special qualities that the 305 has.

Ye. Probably :) i was holding both in my hands but tested 315. They felt very similar shadow swinging.

Please explain the layup differences (composite flex layup?). I also have not tried the TF40 305 for the higher SW... and pattern is the same.
Thanks.

As you can see in the post above, TF never went into much detail but they really do feel and play very differently. The special thing about the 305 is the phenomenal linear accuracy and consistency (and I don't use the word "phenomenal" lightly). You can really hit through the ball onto a dime and the balance of plushness plus crispness is just right (for me anyway). The 315 lacks that same put away power and is less stable ...and by the time you add enough mass in the hoop to overcome those problems, it becomes too cumbersome.
Your results may vary, every individual frame is practically a unique experience these days, and it's all so subjective and dependent on string setups... it's almost impossible to compare apples with apples. Someone else may be able to get the 315 to sing for them, but for me it felt anaemic and vague by comparison.

Sorry if you already compared it somewhere but could you name your 2,3 other favourite frames so i can kinda learn more about your preference and if that suits my game and preference :)
One thing i can say about 315g version is that the slices were one of the best (if not the best) on the market.

It’s mostly white with black grommets. The French flag is incorporated into the TF40 naming. In terms of looks i prefer the older one. The racquet i choose to playtest is 16x19 / 305gr/ 32,5BL and strung with ice code 1.25 / 22kg. The new tech is called RSSharpsecrion. I don’t have any other info and i can show you only the small pic below. It’s very Blade like feel swinging through the air which i like as a Blader myself. We shall see in the afternoon how it plays.

Any more info you can share about the forthcoming Tf40? Is the mold the same? Ball pocketing/stiffness?

The 315 is no slouch... I like it a lot, yes slices near perfect... I do not have knowledge of what perfection is. My only game limitation is that my strokes need a little more help to shape de ball (don't like instability of textured/spin strings), hence I was asking for a more open pattern. Very interesting, we will see what this new sword is like.
Can't wait...

Re. my other favourite frames... It's funny that you should ask that because my recent return to the TF40 has been a big departure from my usual type. I've typically been playing with 16x19 player's frames, like Pro Staff 97 v13, Six One 100 v13. Blades, I've played around with too. And "the Doppio" (search the holic thread if you don't know this name already), the Pro Kennex Ki Q+5 Pro (2019) which is 16x20. I'd always relied on the whip and bite of 16M frames to give me reliable depth control, until recently when I dug out my TF40 strung with Gosen AK Pro CX, which is a very gut-like, touch kind of string... and this time it totally clicked like some kind of epiphany. Gone are the doubts about whether I can get enough spin with 18 mains. Gone are the doubts about depth control (as this combo gives me enough feel to judge the depth of flat shots). And suddenly I'm wondering if 18M frames are the key to unlock my tennis!

...But likely just another honeymoon! :p

315 or 305?

What do you mean by "perhaps the new TF40 305"... it says it at the top of the frame. Or were you being sarcastic?

Looks are subjective... but more importantly... How does it play? and How does it compare to the previous TF40 305, if you tried that one?

Thanks

I was hesitant to post anything about me or anyone else hitting with it, as there are too many variables missing.
The racket was used stock, strung with (I am guessing) tour bite 16, in the low 50s.
It was dropped off to be demoed by a top 10 college team. Immediate feedback from the few players that have hit with it for 5-10 min (all UTR 13+) was that it was way too underpowered, launch angle too low, ball doesn't go anywhere, anemic. Even the French guy didn't like it (he is currently using the BP 18x20). But none of those guys play with anything stock, so take it fwiw.

I had a similar experience (too low powered) - comfort is fine but not as plush as my racket..and I don't have any perspective as far as the previous TF40... I am a 5.0 using PK KiQ+ 325 - so also coming from a much beefier racket.
It could obviously benefit from lead and maybe different string, but then wouldn't the 315 or a 16x19 be a more logical choice?
Idk, this is kinda crappy review...

I understand. Personally, I look for the right feel first... then I worry about how much I need to modify the thing to make it right for me.

The BPs (I only have 16x19 as Australia didn't get a choice) are absolute beasts when it comes to power, etc, so not many racquets would measure up.

The 16x19 and 315g options (which will be available), are all possible... but in the previous TF40 (still the current one I suppose until these become available), the 305 had a different layup to the 315... so they were different in more than just balance and SW. If that is still the case, then that adds further complications to the assessment.

Time will tell. I wouldn't mind if they sucked as then I wouldn't be tempted to buy them. Don't think Tecnifibre would like people to feel that way about them, but it is what it is. I have too many racquets already. OR I could just learn to control myself.:-D

Interesting for me as I've also played a lot with the PK Q Tour 325 (I have 4) and the current TF40 305 (I have 3).

I don't find the TF40 under-powered at all, in fact I'd say it has a fair bit more free power than the PK, though less plow through so assuming adequate RHS I'd agree the PK has potential to hit a bigger ball, although I do prefer the TF40 on defence. Anemic and the ball not going anywhere are definitely not issues I've had. Wonder whether this a change to the frame itself, or more of a string issue/tester preference. Hopefully the latter.

Agree the launch angle is pretty low, even as far as 18x20s go.

Thanks for posting. Loving the new cosmetic!

Regarding the new TF40; are you able to compare to other similar sticks, in stock form, like the Pure Strike 16x19, VCore Pro 97, Blade 98? I.e. is it anemic compared to other similar stock frames? Would love to hear your opinion :)

Would be nice to have better pics (not just blurry ones)... with some showing the frame shapes... next to other known frames.
The word 'anemic' for a Poly 16g makes sense in the context of 'control' pattern 18x20.
But well, is what we got.

Is the TF40 (new) foam filled? I really liked the feel of the TFight 305 RS
Btw could somebody provide me with a comparison between 305 and 300 RS? 300 RS in not available at my usual shop.

From what can be seen this IS a player's frame, much more even than the first version of the TF40.
It is for sure more powerful than the LTD but equally versatil, great for an ALL COURT player.
The cross sections in the head seem to be a conceptual derivative of the XTC RS, which brought controlled power without harshness. The thinner rounder cross section will allow less aero drag.
Foam filled frame of course, kinda trademark of the modern Tecnifibre engineering.
Butt cup door seems to be too much to ask.
Trying set ups for both patterns is going to be interesting and critical.
This can become a serious weapon, precision and ball shaping will be at the player's hand.
I will not be surprised if this is a clone of Medvedev's frame.

What is everyone's experience with TF QC? I got a new TF40 315, it was 322 grams - 7 grams over spec and 7.5HL instead of 10 HL unstrung. Pretty disappointing.
I've had 3 TF frames and they were all within 2 grams of spec. Sounds like you got unlucky, especially as the 315 is already a high stock weight.

As someone already suggested, the shape looks pretty Volklish (throat at least). Is it just the picture?
Just the pic, I put my TF40 in the same perspective and NO difference to sight... so I think is geometrically same in the outer head tangent plane. The stem am not so sure. Beam cross sections are different.
The design intent is Control and Stability. So be prepared to hear 'testers' saying "is dead, no power,...etc". Go figure.

I will continue my playtest of new TF40s 16x19. This time around i ll also try 315 side by side with 305 version again. A friend of mine told me how easier to manoeuvre 315 version was to 305. He also confirmed my initial impressions on 305 that new TF40s 16x19 are very close to RS line in terms of feel but in a little bit more lively way. I will choose red code at 22kg this time around. Black code was low powered on the RS I tried and ice code under cold weather it played like a brick…..
