Gonna stick with predicting Novak. He’s come this far so why not

Djokovic, but in 3 this time because he gets less rest. Organizers are desperately trying to screw him over with the scheduling.

Tsitsipas in 2. Djoko's first real test and I wasn't really that impressed with what I saw against Auger and Ruud. If Djokovic has a really good day then he could possibly win it in 3 but most likely Tsitsipas in 2.

Djokovic in better form but conditions are pro Tsitsipas so it's going to be a tight one hopefully Tsitsipas can win it in the end

Judging by their last two meetings on clay this should be a good one.

Haven't seen much of Tsitsipas this week. Just glad that Novak finally got all matches including a night semifinal done in straights. If he can move up one more gear he'll definitely be ready for tomorrow and for the French as well.

Anyone arguing Novak had the tougher draw? Cause it was weaker by a good margin!

This should be a good one, looks like Tsitsipas's game to lose with the poor scheduling but knowing the Greek philosopher, he probably still gets beaten.

Was that a match Joe Kovic played Saturday or a practice session with sparring partner Ruud? Meanwhile, Tsitsipas played nearly 3 hours more in his four matches on consecutive days while the old man was given the easier first match Tuesday, next match Thursday schedule.

Platopas in 3. He looks to be settling in with Enqvist’s adaptations.

Let’s talk tactics. How should they respectively approach their matches. Novak needs to do nothing special. He needs to be Novak. What about Stef though? I think he needs to pick his moments and up his aggression on that BH wing by going DTL. Hardly seen him do that this year. He also needs to not give Novak too many angles to work with. Keep it deep and hard and mix it up. And of course, hope he has a great serving day. He’s gonna need that against the greatest returner of all time.

I don’t think Djokovic will win due to ridiculous scheduling (same thing every year with Rome, night match SFist just does not have much chance) unless Tsitsipas puts out a stinker. His form looks good again to be a contender at RG and be the favorite for Wimbledon after the turmoil he has been in though, which is the important thing.

Luckily, he didn’t play that much against Ruud. He should be fine.

Greek God in 3?

The match is at 4pm so advantage Steve. He had more rest and played all of his matches in the day sessions unlike Djokovic.

Wait. Djoko played a little less than an hour and 45 mins vs Ruud and some Djoko fans are complaining about scheduling/possible tiredness.
Wut?

Lol it was a breeze against Ruud. If you wanna talk about how scheduling screwed over somebody, you should probably look at Madrid where Z and Tsitsipas slogged for almost 3 hours and finished post midnight and had to play Alcaraz next day evening. Z would have not won that final anyway, but he couldn’t even put up a dignified fight due to the scheduling. If Novak loses today, it’s for reasons other than scheduling.

It doesnt matter if it was an easy match. Night match player has always been at disadvantage in Rome as the final starts too early next day. No player who played second SF won Rome since 2011 and that was Djokovic at his peak fitness.

Madrid was bad this year but that was unique due to exceptionally long matches that day. Rome has always been the worst of two historically.

You’re quoting statistics that are not relevant to today’s final. Tsitsipas has gone deep in every single clay tournament this year . He’s literally been playing all year, week in week out. This week, he’s had 3 very tough 3 setters which he came through as opposed to Novak whose had fairly straightforward matches where he’s yet to drop a set. Tiredness and scheduling is really not an excuse for Djokovic.

It is ridiculous that people like you can deny simple objective facts ( which I stated to criticize the tournament scheduling in good faith, not to excuse Djokovic) just because they hate one player.

Yes short term recovery for athletes is completely unimportant and Djokovic will be at its absolute best today and if he loses it will prove how an awful and overrated player he is and all the beatdowns he gave to your favorite player will be meaningless. Lol, whatever makes you sleep you at night...

You can raise the issue of scheduling without making the fatigue excuse. Night sessions are different from day sessions.

Last year after playing for nearly 8 hours in two days Djokovic said that he could have played for few hours more and now some fans are saying he's screwed by playing an easy peasy straight setter in evening session. This place is hilarious.

Both Djokovic and Tsitsipas have had lapses in their matches this week, but overall, Djokovic has been playing slightly better. He hasn't lost a set. Tsitsipas has lost three including to Khachanov and Dimitrov. Novak can definitely still raise his level, and if he does, it's on his racquet. He's unbeaten against Tsitsipas on clay. If Novak doesn't raise his level, it'll be close.

But conditions will be much different to what Djokovic played in last 2 matches and they seem to favour Tsitsipas more and I doubt Djokovic has it in him yo find that extra level in this condition
