ARV needed to guard the line. I don't think we're done yet with the ups and downs. What's the FO fifth set now - 10 point TB?

That was crazy. That's why he's next up only young guy to come up with Big3 level athleticism.

Very impressive athlete, yes. He ain't no fake elite athlete like Dimitrov (lol - this guy was never a top level pure athlete).

Now that is almost peak Nadal level of defense.

I still expect Alcaraz to have handled him in 4 at most
Yeah, most of us expected that. Who knows, maybe such matches, where he had to dig as deep as it gets, help this young man in the future. Would love to see him play either Djokovic or Nadal here.

It's a different match-up, though. Vinolas did choke, but prior to that he was cleaning the lines. Djokovic doesn't really play like that, certainly not on clay. Plus that lefty slice serve.
If he ends up winning this I can’t wait for another week of explaining to idiots why being MP down to a lefty clay court grinder with a filthy slice serve doesn’t actually mean much for a potential SF.

He still had the right combo of shotmaking and athleticism to be a consistent top player. Deserved it more than Nishikori and Raonic.

Don't come spreading your common sense in here, where the hell do you think you are?

This has been a patchy match for Carlos but I do have to admire his grit. I haven’t seen any nextgenner from the last 10 or so years with the kind of never-let-up attitude he has.

Dunno about deserved, that's a strange word to use. But I agree he had the tools to be a consistent top player, though it never quite happened like most imagined it would.

I repeat - Alcaraz is very tough nut to crack. Not just he came back from 0-3 down in decider - he also managed to break again.
