With the way Federer's game is slipping backwards, the door looks wide open for Djokovic and Nadal to have a shot at the non-French Open slams next year, assuming one or the other wins the French. So how many non-French Open slams do you think either will win next year, if any?

Is that a sarcastic comment?

Firstly, I think it's a bit early to start writing off Federer.

Secondly, even IF Federer declines next year, I still wonder if Nadal or Djokovic will win USO, AO, or Wimby. I like Djokovic's game, but he still hasn't shown us anything in terms of GS play. I'd take a declining Fed over Djoker still. Nadal would have a better chance, but every GS (minus FO) with him is still an adventure...there's always those matches where he's on the ropes and nearly pushed out. I don't think he'll always be able to make it out on top in those situations.

Not at all. The decline of Federer does open the door for Djokovic and Nadal imparticular to have more chance at a non-French Open slam. I am assuming one of Nadal or Djokovic will win the French Open next year regardless, more likely Nadal I think.

However the decline of Federer opens the door at the other 3 slams too. Granted Federer still might win 1, 2, or even all 3 of the non-French Open slams, but certainly there is more chance he does not it appears. Even if Federer does not win certain one(s) there are others that might do it aside from Nadal and Djokovic at all. So all in all nothing it set in stone, which is why I made the poll. However with Federer more vurnerable now, it certainly makes raises the intrigue to what will happen with regards to Djokovic and Nadal at those non-French Open slams.

Another troll post. Fed getting downhill? Ha ha ha...Again, let's take the Sampras example...compared to the current Fed, Sampras' AT HIS BEST was always going downhill.

Christ people get ahead of themselves, how does making 5 consecutive finals mean you are going downhill?

i dont get it. djokovi beats fed and nadal and all of a sudden the only way he can not win the US Open is if he meets fed in the semis. yet no one is mentioning that he is by no means unbeatable by other members on tour. He has played youzhny twice this year on hardcourts and lost both times. also he has yet to beat nadal in a best of five set match.

I also believe that you are being a bit ridiculous to write off fed in a grandslam period. Is it so easy to forget what he has accomplished so far for the year? Wait until fed loses a grandslam other than the french open to post these types of threads because they just look foolish after the fact.

Are you for real? He's made 9 straight Grand Slam Finals, and won 7 of those 9. He's done better in the hard court season this year then last year. If he makes it to the finals of the US Open he'll have made 10 consecutive grand slam finals. Care to tell us anyone else in history who is even close to this? 1He's been the number 1 player since February 2nd, 2004. He's held the number 1 position for 189 consecutive weeks, well above anyone else, and the earliest he could lose it, is somewhere in 2008.

Yeah, he's really been slipping backwards. I can think of about 1000 other men who wouldn't mind having his so called slipping backwards year (that be anyone ranked in the ATP). Yet another example of a stupid post.

Over a thousand posts and you say the Fed is going downhill? Ridiculous. Odd that a troll type thread would come from someone with so many posts...

I have figured out that just because someone has a lot of posts it doesn't mean that they actually have a brain. ;)

this is the dumbest poll i have ever seen

i'm ashamed that i dignified it with a vote (but at least I voted without hesitation for zero for both)

I didn't vote. I know Rafa and Roger will challenge one another. But the mere fact that someone called Roger washed up and on a decline is just ridiculous and not worthy of a vote.

More worthy of an admission to a mental institute....

Its time for the semi-annual 'Fed should retire' thread :) !!

Yeah, and I think about thirty of those popped up after the finals last week. Just ridiculous. Dominate tennis and lose once and you are on a decline...

...if I were only that good to dominate and lose only five times a year while retaining #1 in the world....

......lol......... He should be taking his meds. :)

Roger will probably win all 3 slams that are not the French Open again. I am surprised only half think Nadal or Djokovic wont win a non-French next year.

As a Djoker's fun I can only say, you are to early with this thread about 2years. At least let's wait after AO.

The guy is currently number one in the world for more weeks than Nadal has been even number 2 and you are writing him off as downhill. There are definately people here with severe ADD.

I just wanted to add a comment about todays match:

Fed was not exactly playing well, and he still won. Today I finally realized that Fed can play like shiza for the length of a tournament, and depending on the draw, he could still win.

There are only a few guys that will beat Fed if he is off, The joker included, otherwise Fed is going to hang around the top 10 for a very long time.

And if he is playing well, he will be able to take out anybody.

there is absolutely no chance of nadal or djoker to win a non-FO slam..... in fact I'd say the Nadal's chances of wining to FO or going down and pretty sharply

Furthermore as I have said before, if Nadal reaches number 1, he will be there for a very short period of time.

Djokovic will be able to beat him almost anywhere except clay...I am not trying to say the Nadal is not a threat on hardcourts, I am just saying that Djokovic is a little bit better.

For some of the ****s on this forums that shoot their mouth off about Federer I think a visit to Wikipedia could be of some help.

Yea, 185 consecutive weeks at number 1, Whew that guys game is way off slipping and going downhill fast. At some point here Federer needs to start stepping up and accomplishing something. I'm not even a big fan of his but some people here are just way off base.

Nadal isn't good enough to make the finals of USO or AO, so how Federer is doing is pretty irrelevent. Too many people can beat Nadal on hard courts. But to say Fed's on a major decline is just ********.

Djokovic has a shot on hardcourts, but I still take Federer to win in a grand slam.

Nadal survived a couple scares last Wimbledon. Will he be able to do it again? Regardless if he does, I still pick this "declining" Fed over Nadal.

Federer will likely win them all again.
