how far did he get??!

ROFL ROFL

It doesn't matter how far. But here's how high he went....

report from 7summits.ru

. After breakfast we have gone on an acclimatization climb on the nearest summit (under the name Murat) 4100 м high.

How about you? ROTFL

That would be about 4000 m. higher than I would ever go. BTW he has to spend a week in Moscow getting his body back to normal from the high altitude.

Poor Marat...it seems he can't concentrate on finishing anything:(
At least he won't hurt himself Maneater...your man is safe;)

He broke too many oxygen tanks... was given a warning many times but continued... and eventually they ended up defaulting him.

Probably and intelligent move on his part...and thus, we get to see him another year with implosions and racket busting tournaments!!!

If next yr is like this one, its Marat versus the Volcano. If he doesn't win a slam, he throws himself into a volcano. Today we break racquets, eh?

Clearly Marat didn't pack enough Powersauce.

(That's the power of five kinds of apples .. actually I've been informed that it's indeed six kinds)

Only 4000m???? Man, there are over 100 mountains higher than that in Colorado alone. What a wuss!!!

Even I've been higher than 5000m (about 18,000ft) and I'm a fat office worker and at the time was a 40 a day smoker. Even base camp is 5500m and thats not even that difficult to get to. They walk pensioners up there now.
I guess if the climbing is particularly technical or similar then it might be a problem but it shouldn't be other than that. That said the mountain he was going to climb was a lot higher (29,000ish), the "death zone" is about 26,000 and up. Anything about about 20,000 gets hard, 22,000 seriously so.
That said I'm not hugely surprised, its a dumb idea to start on a peak over 20,000 for your first proper climb

Jeeeez thanks a million! I'm not that scary! Personally if he reached the top he would have been quite horny! hehe!

Horny?

After a sub-zero temperature, 8500m climb he'd be exhausted, half frozen to death, and his pr1ck would be shrunk to the size of a peanut.

Post of the thread :)
That and I'm sure you'd be very attractive wearing your goose down bulging clothing and oxygen tank...just steamin hot baby!

Exactly. Either that or Safin would reach the top and find Maneater's frozen corpse wearing a thong bikini holding a sign "Davai Marat!".

High altitude climbing is a serious thing. Most of the very best climbers have died on the mountains.OK, today the sherpas will draw you to the top, if you spend enough money. But it remains dangerous. Safin is way too big for a climber. His long arms and legs are prone to frostbite.

i too was shocked about the 4000m part. i have been over 5000m.
however, there are other factors too. e.g
if you are carrying all your stuff (as opposed to having porters carrying all) it can be alot more difficult
also if you are trekking (less incline), it can be a lot easier than if climbing (steep inclines).

His long arms and legs are prone to frostbite.
urban. could you please expand on this part. i need to know this.

A little past 5,000 meters. Cho Oyu Base camp. Not much taller than Mont Blanc. But I bet less than 1% of all humans ever get that high unless they are on a plane or stoned. Safin may have been both. :)

more like .1%..unless they live in the mountains.
