STINKS!!!! Love small headed, flexible, heavy racquets

We should all just go back to wood. It stinks that I can’t use these racquets in today’s game. I would be knocked off the court, but I love playing with them (against the wall). Too bad.

Lets just all decide to go back to wood. The game was originally (court dimensions, net height, rules, etc…) designed for small headed flexible heavy frames anyway

Stinks!!! After the control, buttery goodness, and touch I feel from hitting with a small head flexible heavy frame (even an 85 sq in seems too powerful)

Tennis WAS a more athletic game in the wood racquet era. A lot of times today, it's just shot-making, like golf or pool. Don't have to run and hustle as much.

I agree. We should all go back to wood. If everyone used wood, I believe I would win a lot more than I do now.

Wood rocks. I have a Wilson Advantage I've played matches with recently, and it's much more fun to be able to take as big a swing as one wants and also produce extreme angles. It's much easier to hit with finesse with wood. With the graphite reinforcement later woods had, they also have enough firmness.

People should be careful to only try high-quality wood racquets when making a judgement, though. I used cheaper woods in the past (like a department store Spalding) and they're awful.

I'd much rather go out and play with wood against players with wood. It's just more fun. The challenge of using a really small sweet spot is nice, as is the pleasure of being able to pin point shots.

I gotta disagree I think in the wood era we had good tennis players now we have better all around athletes

And this is a positive?

Now guys have to push themselves so hard that they're busting their limbs left and right.

While I don't think we should go back to wood, I do think it would be interesting to have a few regional USTA tournaments where wood is required. The tournaments would have to count for a LOT of points to attract anyone though.

It's the modern era of sport where $ is king. MOre $ people push themselves harder tougher schedules and scientific proffesionalism is as much to blame as the change from wood to graphite

kinda agree, when I learned tennis or began to in 1965 wood was it and when you started to connect with the sweet spot on strokes and serve it was a big event at least for me. I had arrived as a serious student of tennis. yeah wood was a special experience especially when everyone used it. no short-cuts or poking balls bakc if you did you were left alone to either dry on the vine or learn.

It doesn't necesarrily have to be wood. But small head & very heavy: Yes that would be a nice thing
