i don't think the local gov't would put roots over the tennis court. They have private club with you pay to get those. But it a good idea though. Anyhow, what up with all the snow, i got at least 3 inchs in Everett, WA and frikking cold. Ahhhhh!!!

if you are voting for taxes to be used for school imporvements/maintenance then yes you have a right to tell them where you want that money to go.

it would make sense considering our weather in the northwest. if they can see the damage it does to the courts vs the ones that are covered.
it doesn't have to be completely covered at all. it can be something similar to what they do with some basketball courts next to the gym.

Lets get a meet soon, I will need about a week's notice so I can get the court(s), but lets start planning about 1 week or 2 weeks from now. What are your guys' schedules like? Sorry for being so absent lately :)

Lets also get a roll call!

I've got league matches the next few weekends, but since I'm still battling an injury, I might not be playing. If not, I'd love to join you.

Let's do it. So, we've already had a couple of wood tennis sets. What should we do this time? Other non-wood vintage only? Super-OS only? (I might win that one!) I'm trying to buy a Weed from a guy who has one sitting in his closet so I can contribute at least three racquets to a super-OS fest.

Yeah, lets get some other ideas out there for "fun" stuff to do. Maybe limit the courts to 2 so we can all just "hang out" more

i'm so disappointed to have not been able to drive down for one of these events. doesn't look good for this one either... one of these day!

looking forward to the report and photos!

Hey there, I'm not sure what this thread is all about, but I'm in the Mill Creek/Bothell area and was wondering if there was anyone around here that wanted to hit around. I'm not much of a league player, just want a hitting partner to hit with when the weather's nice.

Super-OS tennis sets, haha. We should switch directly to wood right after. I'm guessing every other shot will be a shank.

More ideas:

1) Play left handed, assuming you aren't left handed.

2) Play blindfolded.

3) Play with Junior Rackets.

In all seriousness, I think playing with all OS is the most plausible.

Come join us for a TW meet sometime, we're still in planning for our next...

Lets do the OS. Minimum 107 si? I think that will include POG OSes and the Radical OSes.

I'm thinking next week will be bad, I've got some thing(s) going on. How about the week after? I might be able to do the 3rd or something at the earliest? I'm in Vancouver, WA right now.

My last four league matches are the evenings of the 3rd, 11th, 18th, and 24th. After that, the tennis racquets are history, so just pick a day and I'll try and make it, even if it is before or after my league match.

Are you planning to quit for good? Or is something actually happening to your racquets? ;)

Training for another bike ride? I've been busy, so I haven't been keeping up much...

I'm thinking 2 weeks out might be the date, I have to make sure no tennis club functions are going on, etc.

Two weeks out would be great. I have a league match late Sunday night so a Saturday get-together would be good if that works. Maybe I'll bring my son along if that's okay - he's never played there before and this might be his only chance in the next few years.

Not getting rid of the racquets, but am giving it up for a few years. I've made a promise to come back and play seniors, which unfortunately is only a little more than three years away.

I'm confused with all this 2 weeks out thing. So is it 2 saturdays from today, making it 5/10?

I'm still befuddled with the fact how anybody can just drop tennis from their life for good. Probably can stop playing in tournaments and stuff, but if the weather is blazing good, why not go hit the courts at your leisure. I can understand how someone can set an deadline to quit smoking... but to quit tennis?

I'll be back the year after I turn 50, assuming I'm still able to play then. It's three years of no tennis, and I've had more fun and satisfaction winning matches and tournaments than ever (the two that I won this last year were my second and third ever, and the final that I played was my fifth ever) but I've got other things I want to try and not nearly enough time to do them, so I tell everyone I get a chance to what my plans are so I can't back out and go back on my word.

But that's later. Let's go and have some fun now. I can supply three OS racquets, maybe four if you consider an early 1980's vintage Prince Precision Graphite (the one with the big plastic/composite throat piece) as an OS (I think it is).

DD, 2 weeks from now sound good (sat night). The Twist OS game are cool. I have an Prince POG OS old school to bring.

Currently, my training is solely riding home from work, a 32 mile route with six good hills and a middle section that I can ride at 23-25 MPH for a few miles. I haven't been able to find time to ride on the weekends, but if I do ever get there, I'll give you a yell. Let's talk at the get-together - maybe I'll bring my bike so you can check it out.

That a good training ride. I mostly on flat road with a few roller now and then. I probably good as a roller more than a hill climber, 20 more less lbs would be helpful for hill climb. :) Yeah, get me a yell when you want to ride on the weekend. Do you work the big company in Redmond. I may joined there soon, so figurely we could so some thing at lunch time sometime :)

Nope, I work downtown, so I usually take my bike in on a Metro bus bike rack and then ride home. Good luck if you're job hunting!

Which day works best for everyone? I can do saturday the 10th (but i need to know SOON, like within a day or two), or I can do Friday the 16th, or Sat the 17th. I'll just have to double check my schedule. I'm done with exams, but projects might kick in and take over my life. I think one of these two weeks is when we should try this!

I'll also have to check in with Kim, he'll need to be around so we can get an extra court free :)

I think we'll try for two courts, one for sets (OS doubles or something) and the other court for everything else (king of the court, or something similar, depending on how many show up).

wayne, do you still have other peoples' e-mail addresses? I need a roll call either tonight or tomorrow to have a chance at reserving courts..

oh yea, i saw this flyer posted somewhere, where they got this night food market at the UW HUB lawn at from 6pm to 10pm. Maybe yall should check it out, can burn it off on the courts after. It's like the Bite of Seattle, except its only taiwanese food.

Richmond, are you in for 5/10? If wayne is in I'll book the courts, If not we'll wait 'til the week after.

Can anyone NOT make it on either the 16th or 17th?

Guys, I hate to say it but I'm done. I tweaked my right ankle in a match last weekend. It's a minor form of the same injury that required surgery on my left ankle, and I'm shut down, at a minimum, until the swelling goes down and I get an MRI, which will probably confirm that I've got a partial separation of my tendon sheath. I'm not sure if surgery is in my near future, but judging from how it feels, I'd say the chances are 50/50.

Anyhow, my schedule just got moved forward, and the only tennis I'll be playing until the summer of 2011 will be recreational hitting with my son and wife. It's been great getting together with you guys, and I hate to miss this one. I'll leave it up to one of the rest of you to organize it, and crunch a few forehands for me when you get together.

The very best of luck to all of you, and I'll see you guys around here again in a couple of years!

Dang, sorry to hear that. All those medical terms make the injury seem serious. Reminds me of how charles barkley ended his career, blowing out his knee in his last year of play, then retired. On the bright side, now there are even less reasons for you to not hang up your rackets...

ah, that suck Midlife. Best of luck on recovery and other endeavor. Maybe just come and hang with us on the tennis night.

Guys, I've got something on Saturday that might take all day, so I have to cancel at the last minute. I WILL DEFINITELY get two courts (maybe three if possible) next saturday. Anyone have conflicts? I can do friday or sunday as well, but I figure saturday is best for everyone.

SORRY BIG TIME!

Friday evening, about 5-8 PM start? I have to go home (Vancouver, WA) on Saturday early in the A.M.

Who can and can't make it? I am reserving a court tomorrow, should be OK. I'll update soon.
