got kPro Wilson 6 bag...not what I was expecting :(

Hmmm.....

Well, my kPro 6 bag just arrived from my Canadian tennis retailer, and it's not quite what I was expecting :(

I didn't realize it was basically going to be just two large long pockets, one slightly smaller long pocket, and a plastic ziplock bag inside. I thought there would be all sorts of internal pockets, nooks and crannies, dividers inside pockets, etc. I've never bought a dedicated tennis bag before, so I guess I was just naive.

I needed a bag that would hold my two racquets in their own compartment, plus have a larger space that is DIVIDED so I could separate out things like my water jug, tennis ball cans, bug spray, suntan lotion, etc...without them all getting jumbled together in one huge pocket. Particularly the water jug. If I tried to put my water jug into the kPro's "Moistureguard" pocket on its own, it'd just flop around all over the place during transport--particularly since the kPro has no shoulder straps and I'd need to carry it around like a backpack :(

On closer inspection, I'm wondering if the kTour Tournament bag would be closer to what I need. Has anyone got this bag, and would be willing to either post a photo or two of the interior, or at least describe in detail its internal design? From the pictures here on TW, it looks like just a regular bag with a side pocket for racquets...but at least it talks about an "internal expanding wet/shoe compartment" that sounds like it might fit my water job snugly.

Anyone?

Thanks :)
Dave

Yep...I'm going to try returning it, which shouldn't be a problem...and if it winds up being too expensive to ship it back to them, I'll just sell it here.

i have the TW 9 pack. 3 large pockets, one medium sized pocket on either side, one wet pocket on the bottom, a couple smaller ones on top for other stuff. check out one of the recent vlogs for good views on it.

I have one, and its exactly as you described. I actually like it though, but I understand how the lack of compartments is frustating when you carry arround gear that gets jumbled

Yep....and it's actually not so much of a big deal for me in regard to most of my stuff...I don't mind my suntan lotion, tennis balls, bug spray and so on getting jumbled together. It's the fact that there's no dedicated pocket, or even a separated pocket, where I can put my water jug that really kills his bag for me. Do bag manufacturers not realize that many tennis players don't just bring a small plastic bottle of water to tennis?

Yea I know what you mean. I just end up carrrying my water jug as it is, since its quite big, so I never had that problem. I thought the ziploc bag for wet/dry clothes was also kinda poor. Babolats bags have seperate compartments for wet/dry clothes built into the bag.

Yeah, I thought about carrying the jug separately, but I figured the whole point of me getting a bag was to get everything into one place so I wasn't doing a juggling act entering and exiting the courts :)

The ziploc bag idea is REALLY lame. Just terrible. I could get a ziploc bag at a grocery store. For their "pro" bag, they couldn't come up with another pocket or two (like the Babolat bags you mention)??

Well, I'm really checking out that kTour Tournament duffle bag, or maybe even the less-expensive "Court" duffle bag. I just have the two racquets, and I just need a bag where I can stick those in a side pocket and have a separate compartment for my water jug. The "internal wet/shoe compartment" sounds like it might fit the bill on that score.

ack, sorry buddy, I already got the bag back in the box and taped it up for mailing back :(

However, there are some pics of the bag and its "kTour" cousin in this subforum, under the thread "post pics of your bag". Here's a link to it (hopefully):

Note that there are NO shoulder straps for this bag; just the backpack straps underneath the bottom of it. This is in contrast to the lesser "kTour" bags, which do have shoulder straps. The kPro version also has the thick vinyl on the top.

TW and Babolat bags have plenty of compartments, zippers, pockets, etc. They are an organizer's dream.

I had a Wilson bag for a while and stopped using it for the same reasons you've noted.

I agree with a. Had a TW 6 bag- man that thing was loaded. Side compartments, small pockets here, there, evertwhere. Man, that thing wasa loaded. Too bad it developed rips within 5 months of use...

So I ordered a Dunlop M-fil6 bag. What the heck? Sure, it's got thermal protection, but all it's got are two large racket compartments, and a joke of a pocket inside one of the compartments. Couldn't they have done a bit more?

i have tennis warehouse 10 pack, babolat 12 pack, and some wilsons. no bag sold today (that i've seen) is made better than the babolat! the straps, the stitching, etc. tennis warehouse straps have broken on me. babolat straps have never let me down (and i walk 4 miles a day in heat to play). tw bags have more internal compartments, and external ones for that matter.

The Wilson bags aren't brilliant. It would be nice if that side pocket had compartments for phones, wallets etc.

Agreed...Babolat aero makes(Nadal) is a great bag. Heard the Fisher is well constructed. Have the Fed old one and its fine. I use the old babolat storage bag for my dry gear and a couple of mid-size plastic bags(zip-lock for misc items)

Well, I may be posting my bag in the For Sale section here shortly...I called the Canadian retailer where I bought it, to set up a return, and they said they don't take refunds (!!) Unbelievable....I've never heard of an online tennis retailer not accepting something like a bag, unused, two days after it was received in the mail, with all the tags on it, for a refund.

My stupidity. Next time I'll order from TW or a comparable store.

The lack of compartments is a big issue I have with the Wilson bags.

I got a Yonex Pro 6 pack. It has a shoes pocket/bag built in, three side pockets for small stuff (hat, socks, grips, wallet ets) then the two main racket compartments.

No dedicated water bottle spot but you could use the shoe compartment for that.

If you are after pockets, I haven't found a better bag.

orcygoodness: I was looking at that bag, actually...it seemed good. Can you tell me how big a water bottle one might fit in that "shoe pocket/bag"? (also, is it a pocket, or a bag?) :) Will it just fit a basic water bottle, or might it fit a larger water cooler-type of jug?

I got the old model, I think it was the 2006 model with the lime green inside lining. I think it is called the Pro model.

The shoe pocket is quite big. It is a pocket, and you access it from the end. I would guess it is about 40cm long. I am not a sure what you mean by a water cooler jug, but I am pretty sure it would fit a 1 litre bottle. I can fit my shoes as well as socks and other bits of clothing. It is handily larger than the separate bag that you get in other bags (Wilson, Head). In other words, it seems almost half as long as the bag, maybe 40%. With shoes in, the bag takes up the space "under" the racquets at the handle end.

Hope that helps

Thanks very much for clarifying that. I actually just today received a Wilson Tournament kTour duffel bag, which seems to suit my needs just fine. It's got the same type of front interior shoe pocket, which fits my water jug just fine. And it's got a shoulder strap.

Another interesting difference I just noticed between the kTour and kPro: the "k-Factor" logo is an actual sewn-on rubber piece in the kPro line, but just sort of "painted on" in the kTours. Strangely, I think the kTour "paint-on" technique is preferable....when I first looked at my original kPro bag, the sewn-on rubber piece was coming unsewn slightly at a corner...and since it's raised slightly from the surface of the rest of the bag, I could just see things catching on it and pulling it off even more over time.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the kTour duffel bag.

i have one. mostly i just dont like scrounging around for accessories in the large side pocket. the two compartments are fine as the items i put in there are big enough and easy to find.
