Which of the above string breakers is better at hitting the same spot on the racquet?

;)

Haven't tried BA, nor do I plan to.

ALU or bust.

(or more appropriately ALU and Bust)

P.S. shearing due to mishits doesn't count there Sir Shanksalot ;)

I know, I know, but hey, it don't matter because they broke. So no problems! :D

You know Karma is gonna get me for bustin on you, and I will probably shear a set tomorrow.

Let me tempt fate a little more and say that I have never in my life sheared a string using the N or K 90.

Well, Jolly, what would you say about a HS player on my team who breaks Big Ace in under 10 hours? I am looking to get something more durable for him. What do you suggest?

Then you could try going to a stiffer string, but there is no guarantee that he would like it.

I mean, once you get to a certain level of ballstriking, and consistency, nothing is really going to last.

I mean no string on the planet would last me 10 hours, so I just use what I like, and pay the price.

I would have him try something like big banger orig, and see how long that lasts him, and how he likes it.

I really don't know much about the cheapo polys so you maybe better off asking someone like NickB, if that is the direction you are looking to go.

Page before this maybe?

I hope to get some dartfish analysis the end of next week.

If that works out I will share it.

Nah, I was just showing him up a bit since I know where the middle of the racquet was, comparing my pic to his brothers.

Last time I strung up a set of VS I broke it in 25mins of casual deep consistient baseline rallying, no hard hitting or heavy topspin.
I've heard hitting off center can really take its toll on natural gut. ;)

Question: Not bashing anybody here...How come pros can use the same racket for the entire match and not break string? Federer uses natural gut too, don't he?

Pros don't use one single racquet the entire match. They usually have several in their bags and will generally switch out with every ball change. So they actually only play with a racquet for about 7-8 games.

Not all of them... I have been to several ATP / WTA matches (no grand slams:cry:) Not everybody changed rackets. Some switched on gesture that he/she doesn't like the feel of the racket.

First time I ever broke 2 at once.

Busted it on a forehand return crosscourt. Unfortunately I still lost the point.

I just had my sole nBlade in the shop getting strung (RIP Control, waiting to see how it plays) so I had to take my old O3 to my Tuesday lesson. String broke within the first 10 minutes :p

I think it was Stamina 16. I have no idea how long it had been in there, but it hadn't been used for a long long time. The one main sort of snapped in two places - a clean break, then a small piece sticking out like ___/ ____ that. I guess it just had some nasty notches that I hadn't noticed.

No prob...hows the progression I working for you? I remember your thread back in the day when you were comtemplating it. I have the same machine.I love it, but my only complaint is that my clamps are getting old and the bases are a pain at times.

its running good now. i took most of the rust away with steel wool... cleaned the clamps with a metal toothbrush and put alcohol on it every so often. the only problem i have with it is its calibration. the plastic screw is dull and i cant take it off to loosen or tighten it. so now, whenever i want to string @ 60 lbs i have to set it to 63... other than that its fine. once i hit a steady pace of 10-15 rackets a week id like to upgrade to a constant pull machine.. but as of now.. it does its job.

Did this a few days ago. Was hitting a forehand return of serve.

Prince Syn Gut 16G. This never lasts me long and the string job was pretty old and went pop after about 10mins.

P.S. The shoes are my girlfriends ;-)
