haha hey thanks for the big bold!...i actually play ITF tournys..the futures..for that info....go to www.itftennis.com :) anymore Q's just ask!

Wow....... I am very confused by this website....

Do I need to be ranked in order to start doing these tournaments, or do I just sign up for an IPIN and then sign up for a tournament and start building my ranking like that?

Thanks....

Maybe you could make a list of steps I have to take in order to start playing tournaments. Thanks.

Haha yea sorry...heres how it goes....

1) Sign up for an IPIN account, costs $45 and you get email confirmation and stuff....
2) Enroll in the tournaments you will be playing and theres deadlines for each one
3) You pay the tournament fee at the actual site when you go to sign in
4) To get any ranking points at all....you must win all of your qualifying matches, then win at least 1 main draw match just to get 1 point. Its pretty tough! :( lol so much talent out there its amazing. Ive yet to get past the first round bc ive had tough opponents. Good luck!

Haha, good call. Unless you're a junior, the USTA is the biggest rip-off you will ever make.

Well Futures isnt exactly cake either lol...you pay $45 for the IPIN registration...then you pay for the actual tournament...If you lose first round, done deal youre gone and thats all...each tourny cost $30 from what I remember as well. But I guess thats just building up actualy match play confidence if you want to call it that...the talent in futures is very good so its hard to progress...let me remind you that this is just the qualifying stages too lol :(

Mario - I would be interested in hitting with you. I travel to the Naperville, IL area about 2X per month for business. I am a 4.5 player that played number 1singles at the Division 1 level. I am in my mid 40's but still can play pretty competively.

Any others interested in hitting?

I'm in Skokie but I'm old and a newb.

I'd love to hit with someone at an indoor but I'm just feeling out what's out there and nearby.

I've found Tam, Centenniel, AC Nielsen, McFettridge, and Mid-Town.
They sort of all sound like a crap shoot of whether you can court during anytimes that aren't the non-working mom slots so I may just stay on the drill group lessons until Spring.

I live in Elgin and I play at the River Trails Tennis Center in Arlington Heights (can't wait to try the clay courts during good weather) and Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park.

Do you have a membership at RTTC? I try to play there but the courts are usually all full. The lady is usually mean to me on the phone too...:(

I don't have a membership but I do take advantage of the $16/hour without non-member fees on fridays 10pm-12am. That mean lady is just old and ready to retire i think.

How is your experience with Schaumburg Tennis Plus?

Can a non-member just call and reserve court time? Or do I have to go there to reserve some time?

for those who are under 21 and still in school, how do u afford the court fees? parents pay? i just moved here and everything is so different. u pay high fees for court time and if ure scheduled from 6-7pm someone is already waiting for u to get off at 6:55 hahaha. i always feel rushed to get off and think about the one hour limit and dont really get much of a practice. its just a weirder environment from texas haha. no more 4-5 hours sessions a day for me! lol

I am over 21 but I understand what you mean with people waiting for your court right at 7pm or w/e lol...Im lucky to have some connections with courttimes and all..but yeah still a pain for others to pay all the time when you want to play during winters

I know what you mean, I had to wait until I am married to play tennis in the winter time :( But it costs more to play 4 hours of tennis every week then a monthly membership of a really nice health club. Why do you think I am selling most of my tennis racquets.

I was the guy in a yellow/blue shirt and blue hat with a yellow Volkl :) Did you reserve a court for next friday. When we got there friday all the courts were booked for next week :(

Those tennis balls that you were playing with were really flat. I don't know how you can still play with them. I used to play with flat balls all the time, but RTTC has good wilson team tennis balls that are in pretty good condition.

Yeah you guys were pretty good next to us.

Were you playing some kind of ranked doubles match against the two other guys or were they friends?

I was just playing with some intermediate friends so I didn't bust out the new balls.
