I was worried, would it be too heavy?, nope, not at all, doesn't feel too heavy like some vintage racks, wheh! it cuts through the air just like a prostaff. Next concern, would the headsize be too small??? NO!!! it looks just smaller than a prostaff,!!!!yay... and not so tiny like the kneissl masters to be impractical for modern use...
293zzgz.jpg

I heard some bs stats about its head-size, don't believe the propaganda and hype, this thing is just under 85,...perfect!!!!
2qtbm11.jpg

would love to find another superform to match this newb! my silver superform powerspot has as much playability as the ps 85, and can produce some insane precision winners that open throats cannot! this feels more manuverable though with the smaller headsize...
23w1dfp.jpg

and their not fugly like some racquets, in fact next to winning with a kneissl masters or gtx, you can't look more badass on the court....darned Austrians, why do they make everything so good?

Fischer made quite a number of racqets in the Superform range - I think Stan Smith played with one, didn't he? I think the frame shape is very interesting and the one pictured looks amazing. Once again, I'm envious. :)

Which model(s) do you have?

I have a whole bunch, many in my mono-shaft thread. I am envious of other racquet sports, where players can swing full force freely. Monoshafts provide this feeling, hitting a ball with a stick, whack!!! A new mono 04, 2 futura Lites, the original superform and the Powerspot. The powerspot is the silver one Anders Jarryd played, it's a real players racquet. I can't say enough about the superform original though. Just swinging it through the air I can tell it's going to be heavenly, the headsize is just the right proportion to take immense cuts at the ball efforlessly, swinging full force without hitting the fence.
219sy9u.jpg

Be warned though, although this racquet looks similar to kneissls, which are soft/stiff/crisp and have amazing feel, the powerspot is a stiff performance racquet. Would love to find another in that same mold, but first I am on the trail for another original superform!!!

What??? Is this the end of the world??
I thought you would prefer busting balls with an air rifle even over a passionful of night w/ Kournikova!
And now you think Kneissl is too tiny for ya?? Shame on ya, Dan! You were my hero!

Btw- with all due respect to that kool-lookin fischer you got there...the white prince kneissl would level the ass of that fischer any day n nite! :)

I'll definetely choose the night with Kournikova, um, but just out of curiosity what is the gripsize and condition on the kneissl???....
as far as playability, the silver fischer is another perfect frame for freaks like you who blast ten quarters on a bench with no warm up, wonder if you've got and wind to back it up though???lol....passing shots with the prostaff might have an error margin of up to a foot, the accuracy of the silver fischer is within a half an inch at fourty feet, Mel: austria vs. china, we're talking craftsmanship and engineering and not martial arts mind you)....

Is that your arrow plus in the back ground? If it is post it up some where else.

Lets get back to the subject.

Is that guy above wearing make up or something?

no, that's a normal sweede. Had the most mechanical and least fluid, game ever. Muscled every ball...very Thomas Musterish...

I've since sold the Superform XL and the Powerspot, but i just found 2 more Superform XL at my local "supplier" for the enormous price of 65 cents for the 2 (they ask for 1 euro per kilo of whatever):

I am so jealous!!!! you must have good karma!!! what is the headsize on the adidas big boron?, I want one, not only is it one of a kind, in terms of playability and nostalgia: it looks point and shoot...can't say enough about Austrian playability, especially monoshafts, think bmw, wilson is ford!!!
you're fischer monoshafts are some of the best racquets ever, made for precise accurate playability, nice score!!!
more photo angles of big boron please, maybe you could put it atop an 85 wilson for comparrison???, best racquet posted all month, I love it!

Virginia, the best part of these guys/gals is their names: a graphite fischer called the president, and a wood monoshaft called the senator! not only beautiful and highly playable but also silly retro names make them loveable! Early 70's composite monoshafts are inspiring!

Do you know, I actually have a rather nice wooden racquet made by Kennedy and guess what its model name is? Yep, it's "President"!

I've just bought a very old Slazenger (issued in 1927 but they were made until 1937) and it's called "Queens".

I'm sure we could all think of some other frames with interesting names. Maybe we should start a thread about it.

many people don't realize that the same innovations that exist in racquets today existed in the 20's and 30's...I enjoy retro names and graphics, escpecially 70's retro graphics, women's racquets (a lost concept), and 70's and 80's racquet names...the cornier and cheesier the better!!!

I have a few women's racquets - two Kawasaki Lady's, a Puma Lady (which is new and absolutely gorgeous - it came out in 1988 ) and an equally delightful Davis Lady Elite, which a very dear friend gave me.

those names aren't too bad, some Ladies racquets names remind me of the film anchorman, with over the top names remeniscent of a bygone era...your's seem quit tame though...can we see the Puma Lady? I think maybe you should start a ladies racquet thread, dedicated to women's racquets...??????...!!!!!!

Anders Jarryd never used the Powerspot. He actually used (and is pictured above with) a Stan Smith Superform XL.
The two models were available concurrently, and had similar paint schemes, but the Powerspot had a rounded hoop whilst the Superform had the squared-off head - more pentagonal in face shape than teardrop (Powerspot). The Powerspot was Fischer's entry-level monoshaft composite frame circa 1985-1986; the Superform their elite monoshaft composite; much stiffer and crisper overall.

Jan Gunnarson, Jo Durie, and Jonas B. Svensson (among others) also used the Superform during this time frame.

thanks for the info, I don't know beans about fischer monoshafts but I think they're awesome, knowing that my powerspot is "low end" and still blows away my prostaff on several levels, makes me want to try the other top fischers...I saw an Eliptic on the bay 2 months ago, I forgot that it was you who was after them...never seen one before but didn't look like anything impressive, what's so special about them???

Nothing special about them...

...until I get one in my hand and am on the other side of the net from you... ;-)

Is there any difference between a Superform XL and a Superform XL Stan Smith, or is it just cosmetics? The shape is exactly the same.

Not right now. The mold looks like the earlier Pro #1 98 sq-in with the angular "gussets" at the three corners of the open throat, but the beam is rather different.

I have one of these Elliptical Fischers from 93. It is indeed a superb racquet!!!

Again at the end of the month, when I get my camera, will post pics:)

I forgot one of my Fischer Superforms. It isn't a mono, but a Superform Tuning:

Hi, I actually have one of these Superform Tuning, but I've lost the Key attachment, so I can't "tune" it:(

If you or anyone has one, please let me know, as I obviously can't find another. I may have to buy another one of these racquets just to get the Key attachment!!!

that's what I love about my puma super, puma top pro, and puma winner, just stick a quarter in the buttcap and tune away. I have a collapsable snauwaert that I'm dying to take apart, but I don't have keys or instructions...how could the manufacturers not have known this would happen???

You're supposed to follow your nose, plasma. :)

Which one do you have, the green one or the red one? I think they brought out two versions of the Ellipse Touch-F (mine is green on one side and black on the other - European model).

I haven't "decomposed" (as my Japanese pen pal describes it) mine yet, but from what I can gather, you just need to find a tool of some description (like an alum key or screw driver) that will fit into that shaped depression in the butt cap and unscrew!

Seriously, does anyone have any ideas if I can get the "key attachment" for my Fischer Superform Tuning anywhere?

There must be one out there somewhere!!!

The tuning and the fischer superform mid are two open throats which I consider a part of this historic line. They share the same headshape and appear to be from the same era. As far as finding a key to my Elipse, the mechanism seems fragile unlike my rugged almost industrial PCS's on my pumas. I'm still curious to collapse it just so I can stealthfully jump on a practice court after initially appearing not to have a racquet!!! Would love to see pics of the open throat superform mid or tuning next to a monoshaft fischer.

Well you will see photos of exactly that in only 10 days when I get my digital camera!!

In fact I'm going to post many photos of my favourite racquets for all to enjoy:)

about to string up my brand new fischer superform! does anyone know the reccomended tension or stringtype on this racquet? The silver powerspot is able to hit targets within fractions of an inch. Monoshafts let you level balls more accurately than open throats.
2kkopg.jpg

The powerspot is a true sure shot weapon. austrian craftsmanship and engineering at its finest. Too much pop for me though as the headsize (90?) is just a skoche too big for me...can't wait to open up some fresh cans of you know what with the original superform...feels more manuverable than a ps 6.1 classic from shadow stroking I've done.

d*mn, they don't make em like this any more...

Ooh la la. I still have a Superform Mid, the chocolate brown one with the orange pinstripes - the first racquet I ever saw with a damper included. Sweet stuff.

a friend has an SFmid and says it plays incredibly. not surprising, Fischers are crafted like BMW's. I've been trying to get that and a txp off of him for ages and that superform mid, could we see some pics pls???, guess no one has a silver stan smith xl, would love to get that one as it looks to have the original superform headshape 77(?) wheras the mids and some monoshafts such as the president and Powerspot look to be 90(?)ish

yeah i'm not sure why the plastic throat, really wish it was all graphite construction, but then again that is what makes it different and unique

It's a frame that was designed a few years prior, and Puma is/was a small tennis company, so it could not afford to make big changes annually. However, in the mid-1980's there were plastic-bridged composites from Voelkl (including their best, pro-level frames), Prince (Precision Graphite), Dunlop, Snauwaert, and others... usually second- or third-rate frames (cheaper), but good for beginners or those wanting to move from aluminum to composites without breaking the bank.
