Topspin Cyber Flash.. Which gauge?

I like to use a moderate amount of topspin on my groundstrokes, and was wondering which gauge would be better. I've seen.. Raving reviews of this string and wanted to give it a try. I'm going to get each gauge, but was wondering from the people here which gauge is better in terms of durability, playability, spin production, power, etc.

I will most likely string these on a nSix-One 95.

I'm pretty diggin' 18g (1.20) in the k90 I'm messin' around with right now. Have about an hour and a half on the string job, no signs of notching yet.

My apologies, I forgot to add that in. It's the 16x18 frame. I won't be purchasing sets for another few weeks, and want to get some input here beforehand.

i think you just have to try for yourself

I think durability is the main concern here because IMO, spin and playability will increase with the smaller gauges. If you're a frequent string breaker, you might prefer a thicker gauge but if you don't break polys often I would say you should go with the 17L or 18. I use the 17 and it has pretty good playability and decent durability...

Well, in case you care, I just received an e-mail from the Home Depot of strings, and there is a sale going on for CyberFlash reels. $13 off of a 726' reel. A lot of string, but its soooo inexpensive, how could you resist?

get one of each and try them out. i like the 16 for spin cuz its more duarble and i usually get more spin with 16g strings. just my 2c

I'm not a string-breaker and never have broken one yet.. I have an APDC strung at #60 with Babolat PH16.. It's been on for about 5 months and hasn't broken yet.. I'm just asking for people's opinions on which they prefer, that's all.

Umm, how often do you play? You might think about restringing a bit more often then that...

As for your question, I feel a better response from the 17g, as I get more spin and feel. I use an 18x20 pattern though, so I would suggest trying both. As for tensions, the sweet spot for this string is from 52 to 58 lbs, IMO. Any more and it doesn't give you enough feel and power and any less and it feels too springy.

I really like the 1.20. It is plenty durable and has a surprising amount of feel for a crisp poly.

I believe the thicker gauges would reduce the feel and push the crispness into hardness. Also more spin with a 1.20.

I play 2-4 times a week for a couple of hours each session. Don't worry. I'd restring more if I'm not tight on a money crunch at the moment.. Need it for other things.

CF is pretty stiff. The 17 offers more feel and control than the 16. The 16 can be pretty hard on the arm.

Unless you are a frequent sting breaker you will cut the 17 out before it breaks.

I just ordered 2 sets of both gauges, along with other strings in my other thread. Thanks for the opinions!
