Novak has been an excellent defender today, so it's not that simple.

agreed, Novak has defended quite intensively today, I actually think he's had more success when he's been offensive though because Stan often still tries for a big shot from a difficult position. It's an interesting match up.

maybe it will work in a GS over 5 sets?

In a 5 set match I still think Novak doesn't have the stamina. However, Novak will do everything in his power to end his matches quickly (If I remember correctly he barely losts any sets in the AO he won).

World number one Roger Federer reached the Monte Carlo Masters final when Serbian Novak Djokovic pulled out of their semi-final on Saturday.
""I didn't feel good for the last three days. I've been waking up with a sore throat," said Djokovic.

Đoković is a coward, hmmmmmm???
The cute comment in the same trashy article was that courageous Federer was playing with a touch of mono about which he did not know Now that is real courage. Not to be afraid of things you don't know about. Wow.

Yep, Stan often went for shots he shouldn't have gone for, thus making way too many unforced errors and allowing Novak to get to at least 30 in nearly every service game by Wawrinka.

We'll see what Stan's made of right now.

two backhand errors and Djokovic (deservedly) breaks, I think Stan is probably done now.

two disagreements between ref. looking at mark and hawkeye in the last 1.5 sets.
The announcer said something about the way they sweep courts. They leave a blank space, a hole, or something next to the line. So more balls are called by the ref than out. Don't fully understand. I guess the point is that there is some clay missing next to the line so a ball hitting it will not reach a mark. Maybe someone who has played a lot more on clay will understand that.

Stan has just lost it, 2-0 game point, 2-2 game point and now he's just throwing it. But I think you can also attribute this to Novak's ability to stay in the points when it mattered most :)

that's one of the things I like about novak. He hits those lunging flat block returns of serves and they end up deep and inside the court. Most guys have lunge/slice for tough returns of serves, but novak's a bit different imo.

nice points by stan.

Great way to do it!

rounds out a very solid performance from novak i think, really good defensively, didn't do a lot wrong and I think he's well worth the final spot.

Stan started well but tailed off, by no means a bad performance though and something to build on for the other CC events
