Nah I dont think so honestly. He got destroyed last year and didnt cry. If he plays his heart out and loses in 5 sets, than maybe...

You cant really say its his last chance. People said that 2 years ago...they said that last year as well...and are now saying it again this year. Of course by each passing year the chances get slimmer but that doesnt mean he cant win it. He is 28...stop acting as if he is 38. He has kept his body in great shape...free of injuries for the most part and hardly ever breaking a sweat in his career. If there is anyone who can have a prolonged tennis career its Federer.

^He's actually not 28 until August.

Oh ya true...thanks!

lol ya but still you know what I mean. Anyways I really hope he just gives a great effort if he makes it to the final. Would just love to see a 5 set match. I think Federer would take that...if he had the chance to play one set to achieve a career Slam.

No.

I think Federer learned his lesson the last time at the AO. If he does cry, it wont be for the public to see. IMO

He will cry when he loses in the SF or even earlier.

He wont be in the final.

Yup, it's not like he's made 14 of the last 15 grand slam finals and the last 3 finals at the French Open or anything.

It seems entirely possible that he'll lose before the semis...

I don't think Roger will ever cry again in public after losing a match.

If it's a REALLY close match, such as at the Australian Open, then maybe.

The Fed bashing never stops. Everyone keeps screaming that Fed's done yet he reaches the finals over and over and over and over playing terribly.

RG's oldest winner since the early seventies was Andres Gomez who won the title at 30 years old and 3 months in 1990, the second oldest was Agassi at 29 years old and 1 month in 1999. The third oldest was Thomas Muster at 27 years old and 8 months (isn't that Fed's age by the way?) in 1995. Lendl also won RG at 27 in 1987.

Sure, every streak has to end; but people who keep predicting it will end when it doesn't start to lose their credibility.

Federer has simply been an inredibly consistent force since he rose in his career, even during last year's and this year's slump years.

People have also been predicting the end of Nadal's career due to injuries for years now...

He'll cry only if the vociferous crowd displays their unconditional love and adoration for him, despite his public failure, emotionally overwhelms him again, like what happened at the awards ceremony at the Australian Open.

I think he would be more pissed than sad.

Maybe start breaking more racquets...disappearing from the scene for a while (pulling a Borg)

I hope that doesn't happen :(

It doesn`t matter if it`s Federer,Nadal or any other top player it would be hard to control the emotion if he would loose ala Coria having match points. If he looses in straight sets then he can get easily over that

it's amazing how people around the world love him so much more than nadal,

even though he loses...

This may well be his last chance at winning the FO. Do you think he will cry IF he loses again to Nadal in the final?

I don't think he will. He knows his chances are slim to none.

If they play a Rome 06-like final and Federer losses 2 match points then yes, he will cry.

Nice informative post. Thanks :)

It just stands out to see a nice post from a Nadal fan who isn't bashing.

Nope I think the AO was just an emotional build up because he expected to win on hardcourts and tie Sampras.

At the FO Roger goes in with no expectations of winning so no huge letdown if he looses.

I agree...the way that match ended with him not serving good and shanking all over in the fifth, plus the emotions running to equal the Sampras record!

All that combined was a bit too much to handle for him in the end I guess...

He won't cry and it won't be his last chance. He's becoming the kind of player that on a great day can still beat anyone, and he can still reach that highs he used to reach. His lows are just becoming much lower and so is his average. I think he could make semis for at least 2 or 3 more years, and in a great last weekend any thing can happen.

Never knew you were only allowed to like people who won all the time . . .
Its amazing how many people bash federer because he has lots of fans. Its not like nadal has any shortcoming of fans. He too has tons of support.

He won't cry. He will be expecting to lose.

If it were a very tight match that'd change the situation, off course.

If he doesnt cry he'll throw his toys and scream like this.
