Is this andy(s) chance?

Wimby 2009 may possible be one of the the more exciting slams this year. Andy roddick is looking great these season and grass has always been pretty friendly to him. On the other hand Andy Murry is on fire and hungry for his first slam...this may be a good one.

I highly doubt it. I think Federer will win Wimbledon with ease. But, if he doesn't I would like either Andy to win it. Preferably Roddick.

If you're talking about Andy Murray - maybe. One day someone from the Isles has to get there! I just filled in my racquet bracket and I had him getting to the semis. Roddick? Nah - he's too happy being married to his new model wife. The edge is gone. Ultimately - I think FedEx will deliver again this year....

How does this answer his question?

Anyway, no. Andy does not have a chance because Rafa withdrew. He needs about ten players to withdraw.

.... ur crazy name 10 players that for sure will beat roddick or murray on grass at wimbledon. if ur taking about murray... ur very crazy if ur taking about roddick ur just moderately crazy lol. Besides the top 4 i dont see anyone else that he has to match up against and be the big underdog.

It is Andy (Murray)'s chance but not Andy (Roddick)'s chance.

Why not. Roddick pretty much had Roger beat until the rain delay. Won't be any rain delays in the final this year. And Murray is reaching his prime both physically and mentally. So there well could be an Andy kissing the cup this year.

I think its a great chance for Murray, honestly, I don't know about Roddick, I would have said he would be one of the favorites to take the title if the top 4 don't make it, but now with his ankle injury, I'm not so sure.

Andy is always a threat, but his game hits the wall against top-shelf players that can handle his pace and exploit his movement, which is admittedly better than it has been maybe ever. Still, I see a quarterfinal exit in his future... :(

I'm not going to say Roddick has no chance, but unless he can find a weapon outside of his serve it doesn't seem likely that he'll win since there are now (at least) two guys who can get his serve back pretty routinely in Fed and Murray. At Queens even Blake as actually getting some good looks in his service games before he Roddick hurt his ankle. Don't forget also that Djokovic beat him at the USO last year; I know Djoko has had an uneven year but if he makes it to the final one would have to assume he has righted the ship since he will have had to beat Federer (most likely) among others to get there.

I think Andy Murray's got a big chance of winning it this year - too much variety for the rest of the players in his half, don't quite see Roddick or Delpo toppling him. And no matter how optimistic I try to be (I'm a Fed fan), I think his mental advantage will tide him through if he meets Fed in the final. So yep, Murray's biggest chance yet.

With RAfa injured, and Federer emotionally drained, this is Murrays chance to reach a WO final and get his butt thwacked by Tsonga.

C'mon Murray, lets bring the WO back to Britain.

RULE Brittanica !!

i want murray to not win a single slam in his entire career.

Thanks for that. You've added a tremendous amount to this thread with that comment. The tennis insight and colossal intellect that you are able to bring to the forum are quite remarkable.

I hope you are unsuccessful in your life too. Let's hope you never achieve any of your dreams or ambitions.

I realise that I know nothing about you and that I might just appear gratuitously hateful, but hey - what goes around comes around.

I think murray's time is yet to come, the pressure of winning his home grand slam might get to him, especially because his side of the draw is now a lot more open without nadal in it. People are already saying that he's a lock for the finals, and it really is tough to deal with such pressure at that age

You know what Mal - you're right.

That's the last time I respond to someone like that. If you catch me doing it again, gimme a cyber-slap in the chops will you. Cheers.

How many more times does Federer have to beat Roddick, before it becomes a non event? Murray has a real good shot at Wimbledon, and could definately give Roger trouble.

You never know,Roddick might get hot that day and play like he did in 2004 Wimbledon final when he was pushed Fed pretty hard but yes Murray has a much better chance of beating Fed obviously.

Even if some people don't want murray to win, if he's in the final we might get a half decent match to watch at least.

When have you ever seen a good match with Murray involved? He is so darn dull to watch. I hope he does well and this is by far his best chance as he has the easiest draw so it will be interesting..

Ok i dont remember all those matches but USO 2008 was a close match but not very fun to watch. I was at the Toronto 2008 match and it was a decent match but not that exciting. Perhaps its just me...

+1

I'd add Murray Gasquet at Wimby last year too.

Oh yeah, forgot that one.Was a good comeback from Murray, the atmosphere must have been great as well as the crowd was really involved and cheering Murray.

block the serve back
bring him in
and pass him
drop shot him

Well,we all have different tastes. What is a good match for me doesn't necessarily means a good match for you and vice versa. For example I thought that Toronto match was pretty good and closer than the score suggested(straights set win for Nadal).

I see an Andy-Andy semi lurking. And I think that could be great. Murray's the favourite though and he also has a lot more chances against Federer. Either way, Murray's still relatively unexperienced and has shown that he can lose to big hitters like Verdasco and Gonzales at Slams. I think HC suits all these players a lot more than grass, but Gonzales is still a dangerous player, and so can Gulbis be, or Roddick.. Murray's far from a given to reach the final. He'll have a lot more chances in the future for him. For Roddick this might be THE chance to reach another Wimbledon final though.

I thought the other Andy (Roddick) was injured, or suspect with his ankle walkover.

Any details or update on him ?? Did he retire just to be safe... was it just a minor twist ??

It was relatively minor - I think he should be OK.

It's mostly because it was exciting, not because Murray has a nice game imo. Murray-Nadal at USO is an exception as he played awesome attacking tennis that day, which he should always do imo. Federer-Murray at TMC and Madrid is just nice because it's tense and close and Federer is a great allcourt player who takes away the dullness of Murray's game and makes him hit passing shots allday long. If Murray plays a normal standard baseline gamer it's almost always a boring match.

"I'm going to do everything I can to play at Wimbledon," Roddick said. "We're scheduled to get it looked at again tomorrow and do some scans on it and see where we're at, but initial tests showed the stability was OK. ... I'm not walking in here saying I'm going to be out six weeks or anything like that. We're looking at days, not weeks."
That's the last time I've heard any news about it, but it seems to me he'll be ok. I got this from http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/news/story?id=4256249
