What age will the Williams each win their last slam titles at?

When you look at the history of womens tennis these are the ages some of the games greats have won their final slam titles at:

Navratilova- 33
Evert- 31
Graf- 29
Court- 31
King- 31

So what age will Venus and Serena win their final slams each at. My guesses would be:

Venus- 28. Already IMO happened at Wimbledon last year.
Serena- 29. Will happen sometime in 2011.

I sincerely hope Serena is done winning Slams. venus can win until she's fifty.

Venus is more likely done winning slams than Serena. Venus is already 29 I believe and she isnt a real contender anywhere except Wimbledon and maybe the U.S Open.

With today's field it's anyone's guess really.I wouldn't put it past them to win slams even at the age of 30-32,they're both mentally tough and have reliable serves.Name me one other WTA player today with the same attributes.

If Graf was done winning slams at 30 than Venus is already done. Venus isnt the champion or player Graf was. I would be willing to bet money other than maybe this years Wimbledon (which I still think Venus wont win) Venus has already won her last ever slam.

Serena is another story. However she has 2 and a half years tops of chances. The womens field wont stay this terrible forever and that is what it would take for Serena to keep winning slams at 30+ years old.

You can't really compare Venus' age with Graf's because when she last won a major because Graf was still capable of winning majors when she retired.

Maybe you're right,we'll see.Time will tell.I'm personally hoping Kuznetsova comes into her own now and wins a few more slams, she's probably the only player left in WTA whose game I like.

She wasnt capable. Her 99 French Open was a miracle. It was her first slam title in almost 3 years, and it required:

1. Hingis mental collapse in the final
2. Venus being upset (hard to believe but Venus was a really strong clay courter in 1999 who was a favorite to win the French that year)

Her last slam was probably destined to be at 27 and she got a gift from the gods. After that she was ruined by injuries and never close to her 1986-1996 level of tennis ever again. She retired for a reason. Losing a Wimbledon final to slow footed Davenport and barely beating Lucic in the semis was a reminder that she was cleary past her prime and it was time to leave.

I would agree you cant compare to some but I would agree you cant compare to Evert, Court and even Navratilova. Evert and Court played when the game was far less physical than today. Navratilova was the ultimate late player, and her 2nd less slam title was even at 30. Like I said Venus has won her last ever slam unless she wins Wimledon this year. Serena has a bit more opportunity but wont last much loner.

Azarenka will be a great player. She will win multiple slams. Kuznetsova might have turned the corner now but we will see. Safina will eventually get it together and win some slams. Wozniacki I think has the potential to be a multiple slam winner, but I am less sure of her panning out than Azarenka. Radwanska and Wozniak have potential to but they are longer shots than Azarenka and Wozniacki. There are players surely down the road to come though. The womens field can only go up from here since it cant be any worse than it is now, and Serena can only get older (Venus is already old in tennis terms, Serena is on the verge of becoming old in tennis terms).

Pete Sampras has more chance to come out of retirement and win a slam than Jankovic has to ever win one at this point. 2008 was her final window, it is slammed shut now. Ana could recover to win another slam in the future.

Saying that both Williams are done winning slams is laughable. I dont care for the Williams much but who is going to stop them at Wimbledon. Oh yeah Jankovic or Ivanovic will, ROTFL!!!

No this is about Williams sisters. Ivanovic and Jankovic are much younger, still plenty of chances to win a slam for them.
They have chances I agree will they take them?? who knows 2008 proved to be there year ivanovic AO runner up winner at RG and jankovic SF AO RG and finalist at US Open.

On top they shared the number 1 ranking but the problem now is confidence there is no drive to win big matches as there was before when you see ivanovic back in 2008 she seemed so determined for her RG title this year she looked desperate in the first rounds and when a real challenge came she got sweeped off the court she didn't believe that she could win so she accepted it she needs to change that mentality otherwise these early loses will become routine

Jankovic's biggest problem is her game. Sorry to say while she is a sweet girl and very likeable, her tennis skills are limited at best when it comes to the highest levels. She has way overachieved already to even do what she has in her career, and it seems the best is already behind her- these last two years, which were beyond what someone of her limited skill set could have probably ever dreamed for anyway. I mean look at her game: a weak forehand, a weak serve, no net game, no huge weapons, a shaky mental game. Amazing she was able to overachieve to do that well for 2 years or so, even amongst the current worst ever womens field.

When you need to rely on other top players to hit 20+ unforced errors in each set to have a shot then you really need alot to happen to be a big winner. It is a shame she didnt win a slam sometime in 2007 and 2008. It will never happen now, in fact it is hugely unlikely she will ever again even get close.

I wouldn't say that she will never have another opportunity to win another slam in the future. At best she could win a slam but those chances are really slim when you look over her 2009 resume (4th round AO and RG). If you watched those matches were she lost it wasn't because she didn't have the game to beat her opponent it was because her opponent was giving her a challenge and she couldn't respond to it.

She lacks that champion mentality that makes you raise your game to another level which is something ivanovic has but can't seem to find it at the moment

You need to remember at the moment age is on her side she is young and has time to develop her game but I agree she is very inconsistent ever since her late boom in 2007/8

JJ is 24 so she is more a middle aged player for todays tennis standards, not that young. 24 is a good age when you are already a champion, but not so much when you havent yet won anything that matters.

I felt in both of JJ's slam losses this year she was outplayed. Bartoli just overpowered her in their AO encounter, hit her off the court. In her FO loss it was an incredibly close match but JJ was always on her heels, her younger opponent basically controlled the outcome of the match as she was clearly dictating. The stats bear my observations out too, a ton more winners and errors both for her opponent that day. JJ has the kind of game that is vurnerable to being outplayed even by alot of lower ranked players on a given day, there isnt anything that scary or imposing about her game IMO.

Is her inability to raise her game at a big moment mental or her limited weaponary and conservative defensive based game itself? Either one doesnt bode well for her. Especialy when you consider she failed to win a slam last year in possibly the worst year ever for womens tennis. With Azarenka and Wozniacki on the rise, and Kuznetsova and Safina taking strides to fulfill their potential, the obviously superior Williams still around, and the potential comeback of another much superior player like Clijsters, it will only get much harder from here. Not to mention the fact she overachieved already and is on the way down at the moment.
