R.I.P., Farrah

Sorry to hear.
Despite the glamour, she had a hard time not only fighting cancer, but putting up with Ryan O'Neal and having to cope with their drug addicted son.

No one spiked up a poster like good old Farrah, if you catch my drift. Dazzling smile, too.

Ah, well, time to re-run some old Charlie's Angels episodes, so we learn from the past not to recreate something like the seventies again.

Rectal cancer. colonoscopy, after 40 is always good idea.

Actually it was anal cancer and you don't need a colonoscopy to diagnose that -lol. If she had a colonoscopy at age 40 it would have zero impact on her being diagnosed at age 59 with anal cancer.

The official guidelines from all the major medical societies recommend screening colonoscopy starting at age 50. But please carry on with dispensing your medical advice.

But, I thought FEDACE was a doctor?

Oh no!!!!:( there was a tv special on not too long ago where she had cameras follow her around. They showed her getting some kind of alternative therapy in Germany along with regular treatments. Some people thought it was exploitation but I found it rather informative. I have a new respect for cancer patients now.:-|

Indeed it was a tragic day for the entertainment world and yes, Michael's passing did upstage Farrah's.

Quite a tragically unnecessary death. My oncologist colleague was telling me that morning that anal cancer, unlike colon, is usually curable. Combination of earlier diagnosability and its being more responsive to radiation and chemo than other GI tumors. Farrah unfortunately opted out of conventional therapy and pursued a "holistic" treatment.

Sorry to hear that. Reminds me of other stars who died while receiving dubious 'treatments' in Mexico, like Pat Paulson and Steve McQueen. A movie star's place is in front of a camera, not making medical decsions (or advocating political policies).

^ Not amused, heycal.

Too bad. I'm almost positive it amused someone, because I'm certainly laughing over the image of a crazed Ryan O'Neal barreling into the morgue to beat the crap out of a dead Michael's Jackson. Maybe you need to understand show-biz better and the particular personalities involved.

No, I think that you need to understand what is in good taste & what is not.

Really? Why not?

Meaning you used to have contempt for them?

She must be so pissed Michael Jackson died five hours later and completely upstaged her. I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan O'Neal breaks into the morgue and beats Michael senseless.

No. Before my aunt's late husband was diagnosed with cancer (non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, I think), I thought that hair loss was the only unpleasant thing about chemotherapy. I remember her telling us how tired and weak he would be after treatments. I was surprised, and after watching Farrah's video I see what my aunt was talking about. It seems like the treatments are worse than the cancer itself.:)

My point was that while you were a young man in the 70s, you must have had quite a few Farrah fantasies.

^ Yeah, I've looked around but couldn't find one either. However, I did find a couple of other interesting photos that are related to the iconic Farrah red swimsuit poster. One of these is a Heidi Klum "re-creation" of the famous poster. The following photo appears to be an alternate version of the best selling poster:

This one might actually be better... but maybe Farrah or others killed it because her face looks "fat".

Looking at these posters, it reminds me that celebrities in the 1970's had not yet gotten on the breast enlargement program yet.

(this post moved from another thread)

I believe that Farrah Fawcett was still playing tennis as of a few years ago, about the time that she was diagnosed with cancer.

Looks like a fairly decent service grip in the 3rd photo. Racquet looks familiar, perhaps a cheap knockoff of a Wilson frame. I think that I may have owned a few of these prior to my Head Master period. Anyone have any idea what racquet this was?...

Just saw an 1969 episode of I Dream of Jeannie. I recognized the lower photo as being a still from that episode. I had thought the metal racquets showed up on the tennis scene in the early 1970s (I started playing around '73). However, it seems that the Wilson T-2000 and other steel racquets were around in the late 1960s. (Aluminum made it appearance in the mid-70s and graphite in the early 80s).

The racquet that Farrah is holding could very well be the T-2000 altho' I thought that it looked a little bit different. Perhaps I'm remembering the later T-3000.

I must say Farrah's hair always looked perfect, even when she was in the hospital getting her treatments it looked nice.
