Question for Neos 1000 owners

I strung my first racquet with a Neos yesterday and all went smoothly except the process of securing the racquet within the hold downs. The Neos Manual has the following suggestions for Hold-Down Adjustments and I've followed all of them, however, my racquet will still slide slightly from side to side on the head-end hold down when I push or pull it.

Is this normal? How securely should the racquet be held in place by the hold-downs?
I would attempt to tighten the hold down socket screw more using the Allen wrench but the manual cautioned against over-adjustment here.

Nevermind, I did one more Allen wrench adjustment and the problem went away. Sorry for the false alarm.

^^^yeah, it should hold the frame securely. One quick tip. When you put the holding clamp on the frame, make sure you are pushing it down firmly before locking it.

Good luck!

How are you liking it? I love how easy and fast it is to mount a racquet.

So far I really, really like it.

I did encounter one odd thing. After I measured the tension on the Neos with my Berekely digital fish scale I found that the tension was almost right on the mark (measured 49.9 when set to 50).

However, after I strung my racquet with some synthetic gut I've used many times the stringbed felt much stiffer than after I've strung it at the same tension using my Klippermate. I guess if anything I thought it would feel less stiff.

^^ahhhhh. the neos is simply put>>>>>AWESOME!! Quick, painless, and a breeze to use.

I learned to string on a similar machine back in the early 90's. I believe it was the H model. (can't remember), but the neos blows it away.

I'm purchasing a babolat star 4 soon, and was planning to sell my neos. However, after careful consideration, I will most likely keep it for back up. :)

It should feel stiffer, due to the fact that you are now using fixed clamps. Fixed clamps have a lot less drawback than floating clamps, and will give you closer results to the reference tension.
If you had a constant pull with fixed clamps that would give you an even more tighter result than what you are even getting now. That is why different machines will give a different result, as well as using a different clamping system.

That's interesting information Jim, thanks. I guess I'll have to play around with it a while to figure out the conversion from what I'm used to now as produced by the Klippermate and the tension the Neos produces.

I like the Neos. I "borrow" time on one when I need to string my Rossi F150 (no room between the #1 grommets for any other mounting system). If stringing all day long, the mounting system is a big plus.

I actually landed a Neos 1000 today as well. About 500 $ shipped for a 5 year old unit.

I used a Neos 1000 when i worked in one pro-shop and have strung more then 1K racket on it and it´s the fastest unit out there. I simply love the result every time and I actually prefer it over the electronic constant pull linear machines...

I will still keep my electronic machine though because some "customers" prefer strung on electronic, but the Neos will from now on be my nr 1 unit :)

yes, make sure the stocks are down before you clamp them, the neos isnt too bad but my 3000 has me tightening the screws often so just check them and have a wrench handy

One additional tip you might try. I replaced the leather and rubber pads on the racquet mounting mechanism with ones I cut from synthetic grip material. The synthetic material generates a bit more friction and holds the racquet more securely. I never have racquet slippage.
